Gosick – “Victorica = Cutest Lolita Ever”

Mystery anime Gosick has been well received, principally due to the cuteness of gothic lolita protagonist Victorica (“Victorique” in another rendering) – so far the only criticism she has managed to attract is her voice casting and her cosmetic similarity to a certain other bonnet-dweller…
The anime is based on a light novel series, and amongst fans of the novels and previous adaptations there is plenty of lively debate over Victorica’s voicing (Aoi Yuuki in the anime) – the character is described as having a husky voice like that of an old woman, now something of a bone of contention between purists and those expecting a loli voice…
Even so, her popularity seems more than assured:

This show looks good, but I can guarantee Beelzebub is gonna be the best anime this season, perhaps even the whole year.

anon, Studio Pierrot did Tegami Bachi which IMO was one of the best series in the past few years. And thankfully, they were devoid of almost any fillers. And even the few fillers they put in, they were absolute genius.
The Beelzebub manga at least is pretty good and entertaining, but Naruto and Bleach were entertaing in the beginning as well before the turned to shit so...

Beezlebub sucks. Have you noticed that the main char beats everyone up in 1 punch? I mean seriously, they build up his opponents and make them sound all powerful and stuff, then they get 1hko. And it goes on like that for about 60 episodes, its a decent manga because of the humor, but other than that, the fights are uber cheezy.
Thats because all his opponents were HUMAN and he has DEMON powers... see where I'm getting at?
if you've been reading the manga recently you should know he's currently having problems defeating the said demons.
& also tbh I'm tired of dragged out fight scenes with every opponent a protagonist encounters in every shounen manga. he may defeat the human opponents in one punch but it's done in a very comical way.

So it's all good for a shounen series fight scenes to suck as long as the main character only fights people he vastly out-matches? That's like saying Berserk would have been better if the main antagonist had been a cross-eyed, wheelchair-bound hobbit...

I don't know about you guys, but fights aren't interesting if the main char 1hkos every opponent. I mean ok, its understandable if it's building up a story, but it doesn't take 60+ chapters of 1hko to buildup a story. gets really predictable and boring by the 27th 1hko, dontcha think?
As far as the demons lol "my punch isn't strong enough...? I got it! I'll just make it stronger and try again!" -_- so now it takes like 5 punches instead of 1 to take out a demon.
Oh yeah, by the time the demon saga of beelzebub comes around, it'll already be the 3rd season of the anime, if it ever gets that far.
So we finally get a psychic goth loli detecitve. I get this feeling I've seen this somewere before in a game though. In any case I'm hoping to see some in series trolling moments for this series.
Even if that doesn't happen it's always nice to see a goth loli in action once more.

Yes, and it's so bad that I got so bored to death and annoyed beyond that that I skipped from around middle of the ep to ED and, really, ED and especially the song are the only goood things in this series, unless you're into gothic lolitas, I guess.
Either way, at least Ep 1 had such bad detective story that I was hoping at first that they're deconstructing the genre but apart from loli with pipe I couldn't tell that the series wasn't taking itself seriously.
first episodes I let things slide since it is the first episode and thus begins to "set the setting" and what not so I'll give it a go when I can lol a little change of pace for once lol

It's kinda amusing that back when I watched Dance in The Vampire Bund and Sora No Woto (Noel), I actually thought if there will be an anime adaptation of Gosick, Yuuki Aoi would really fit Victorique's role.
After I realized that it was the same voice as Mena tepes, I knew that this anime was going to be good. And yay Gothic Loli.

Don't see it as losing control, see it as becoming a stronger otaku, being able to see any anime that comes out will prevent the repetition of seeing the same genre. I can pretty much do any anime too, in fact I'm trying to to see every type of genre out there at least once.
Same for me, i give every new show of the year at least 1-3 episodes and most of them get at least six before i start dropping titles I didn't get hooked on. Last year I think all I really dropped was shiki after episode 8 or so, it just didn;t stick with me, but i pretty much stayed with everything else.
