The Shinbo/Ume Aoki team-up is like combining an epic giant robot the size of the fucking universe. Words couldn't describe how many galaxies worth of win.

I just saw this show, it is amazing. Very much a Shaft style show.
I just finished watching episode 1 and can reconmend that its def worth checking it out.
At times it seems like a moe slice of life anime, but there are some dark elements surrounding it - similiar to BRS, but feels more evil/darker.

Well, it's clearly the show SHAFT has always wanted to make.
But it's not really off to a good (nor bad) start if you ask me. It's really plain and then they just made it visually odd and interesting. They just wanted to make a really weird world that would allow them to make all sorts of shit and just do as much possible work in the background they could do whilst still somewhat making the deadline. Then the rest they said "fuck you" to and just made it as standard as possible.
But, I am certainly interested in seeing how this will develope.

It has Aoki Ume's widefacemoe.
But from just from the screens it really looks like Hidamari and Bakemonogatari bastard child with magical-girl slapped on top. I hope there is some interestiong story so i could watch it.

I knew if SHAFT was going to do a Mahou Shoujo Anime it wouldn't be normal. And I'm so happy I was right!
The visuals were STUNNING. Expecially at the end with the Zetsubou Sensei-esque visualls and the spell that summoned a volley of Matchlock Musket fire, as well as the beginning with the dream sequence.
Homura looks to be an interesting character as well because she had a couple of times that she broke her Quiet Girl facade with a grimace or a look of frustration/anger.
All and all, I'm fucking excited. Many times did I come and many times did I shat bricks during this episode.
SHAFT, bring me more of this marvelous thing called Puella Magi Madoka Magica!

After they have hooked you with the first episode, the ones in the middle are likely to have less effort put into them, then toward the end the quality should get back to this level or possibly even improve.
I really enjoyed this episode, let's hope the quality stays the same or improves.

The art is to be put into question but it might actually impress me to a high enough degree that it doesn't matter in the end, though I haven't exactly ever watched a series with the word "Magica" or something similar in it's name yet...
Looks alright loli makes it good for the sight but I'll still have to check it out and see if it really is "the best anime this season".
