K-ON! fans are still showing more interest in the background (“mob”) characters of K-ON! than they do in entire series of lesser anime, with even the most obscure and speculative minutiae not escaping their
Analysis includes the (inferred) relationships between each character, their seating order, their yearbook entries, and even the colour of their socks:
Omake:
Himeko is probably the most popular of the mob characters, if not the reason they all became so popular:
Mugi-x-Shizuka (Short haired loli who went along Mugi to borrow the Rosetta Stone)
Yui-x-Himeko
Nodoka-x-Fuuko (Megane Mio)
Ritsu-x-Ichigo
Mio-x-Sasaki (Green twinbraids Mio fanclub girl)
Hokago Teatime-x-Akiyo (The Ponytailed glasses girl who asked the band to take a photo w/ her in episode 24)
It really does say a lot for a production when things like this happen. It really isn't so much about fan fanaticism as it is that something really does give off a general energy of something special about it. The people who react negatively to those who feel there's something special about it are merely reacting to that which is special about it as well, otherwise they wouldn't react to it.
Really due to how much I enjoy original twists on things, I would actually be curious and interested in this class getting a Negima style spin-off about them to see what they could do with it. In the right hands it could sincerely create a very fun series. It should be a given that odd-sounding ideas generally lead to the most entertaining of the modern concepts. Hell, look at Panty and Stocking.
This shows what a Truly dedicated stalker would do. I can imagine the fictional stalker in a tall tree with high powered cameras and recorders. Camouflaged with only the few hours at the witching hour to rush down to the convenience stores for food~
If you look closely into the series, there's some pretty deep philosophical themes coming up here and there, revolving around problems of society. Also there's alot of hidden meaning. Also, it's obviously sarcasm.
Thinking about those people who made that analisys, I'm beginning to understand what that fucktard Ishihara meant with DNA malfunctions and all....
You understand that, to Ishihara, you're as retard as all of the ones who made the analisys, right? To Ishihara everyone here is a "DNA retard", so shut up or go do something "non-retard" to Ishihara standarts.
@Riiku and iceburger
while i personally would go to such length... who are u two AND ishihara etc.. to judge whether or not their life is "sad".. why must we chase the carrot the man made society made for us. while i dont agree that people HAVE to be different, that being a sheep is bad... as the way i see it, i'd rather be a sheep, stay with the group and survive, than being a sheep that think of itself as a wolf and wander off by itself and end up dying...(weird analogy...) i think its alright to give into peer pressure (as long as its not stupid)... what these "otakus" did is obsessive, but did they harm anyone? they made their "work" public so that some people may enjoy their little background research... why do you guys have to judge?
I'll tell you why. Because I think that majority of those otakus would rather spent time banging a girl, but they cant do that, so they have to spent their time on something else.
It's not that they dont have other pleasures in life. It's that they CANNOT have those pleasures because of insufficient social skills, uncertainty and weak character. If someon brought those pleasures to them on a silver plate I'm sure they (most of them) would gladly abandon this K-On analizing thing and take that instead. Am I making sense? I hope so.
I agree. What is the difference between pain-stakingly making a chart of your favourite anime and reading a difficult book? If you get joy and fun from either of those things, good for you. Me, I think I'll stick to Dragon Age or World of Warcraft hahaha...
Frankly I don't see how this is any different from anything else people put a godawful amount of time in. Minecraft anyone? Or, hell, anything that involves collecting anything, or mastering some kind of otherwise useless skill like hitting a tiny ball into a hole with a stick.
But when it comes to traditionally perceived "nerd" stuff, people have to get all insulting about it. This feels like when someone builds a huge and awesome lego house, and there's always the one fucktard who has to go "lol you have too much free time".
What the fuck is wrong with you, geek? Not getting a lot of respect in life? What else could make you act like such a complete and total dickface towards people who are just doing something they enjoy?
One reason people focus on details of a given subject so much is so that they have something outside of work to talk about with people, and have a group of people they can be part of.
There are plenty of mainstream hobbies like this:
* Tabletop Strategic Games (WW I, WW II, the American Civil War, Mechwarrior, etc.)
* Model Railroading
* Granny's Huge-Ass Porcelain Doll Collection (fills two rooms)
* Slot-Car Racing
* Coin Collecting
* Rock Collecting
* Stamp Collecting
* Fossil Collecting
* Warhammer 40K
* Birdwatching
* Origami
...etc.
As a reader/watcher, I appreciate the fact that the authors cared enough about their story/manga/anime/movie to create a detailed world.
That many people spend time ferreting out/speculating/arguing over the details of that world -- with the exception of the few seriously-overboard-delusional, character-X-is-my-waifu types -- is a response to and appreciation of the effort the authors spent.
i really dont see the problem with this, how is this is any different then people who memorize inane facts about sports and then make fantasy leagues (what i like to call D&D for jocks) out of them? its like some of you said its just about working with what you enjoy.
In all my English classes I have to spend hours poring over tiny minuscule details of minor characters and personality traits so I can write a 15 page literary criticism of some sort... somehow this feels the exact same to me.
And most people in general, are Otaku of some sort, even if its not Anime. Like the Japanese Motorcycle lover who has the gear, posters, knows everything about a particular bike - but doesn't actually own one.
Or the Jesus freak... (Walk into their home) in which there are crosses, bibles, drawings, quotes, everywhere and almost every word out of their mouth has to do with Jesus. JESUS!! WWJD mentality.
while it is true that enjoyment is all that matters, this is just plain nonsense
i might be wrong, but i find it difficult to believe that the makers of k-on even intended all those relationships and whatnot to be there
the astrology of fandom
"i might be wrong, but i find it difficult to believe that the makers of k-on even intended all those relationships and whatnot to be there"
There's actually an official relationship diagram for all of Haruhi's classmates. So it's not that difficult to believe that they provided that much background K-ON! also.
So, who's having delicious yurigasms with whom?
Everyone with everyone else. Just pick two and there you go. :P
Mugi-x-Shizuka (Short haired loli who went along Mugi to borrow the Rosetta Stone)
Yui-x-Himeko
Nodoka-x-Fuuko (Megane Mio)
Ritsu-x-Ichigo
Mio-x-Sasaki (Green twinbraids Mio fanclub girl)
Hokago Teatime-x-Akiyo (The Ponytailed glasses girl who asked the band to take a photo w/ her in episode 24)
Himeko aka Sex Hair is the hottest.
that hime
do want
Hey, what about Wakaouji Ichigo? She's hot too!
Both Himeko and Ichigo are hot AND sexy!
Ichigo won my heart simply for being the Tsukomi of the class living in her own world :3
http://chan.sankakucomplex.com/post/show/893304
..and also those lovely drill hair.
couldn't agree more
who is Himeko ?
the hot one.
the sexy looking female
The fashionable one that is featured in the last few images.
Ah~ This is the kind of obsessiveness that I love! (^o^)
Also, hats off to Kyoto Animation for their stellar attention to detail.
This is why I love otaku. They put so much thought into little aspects of series that most would ignore. It really shows their love and dedication.
I prefer Shizuka, she is the best for me with Azu-nyan!
Himeko not so kawaii...
Himeko FTW!
HIMEKO BANZAI
HIMEKOwwww!!
Now, if only I can read what the hell's written in all those images.
I was thinking the same thing.
lol agree
someone translate it please.......
No, its called DEEP LOVE!!
Stalker?
This is called love.

I wanna see more Ho-kago Coffee Time and Ho-kago Study Time!
Still waiting on that translation, but no seriously...
I have to admit, this interests me greatly...

The text is really too small for me to read
This's is SOOOOOOOO SCARY!! STALKER!!
TN: Names.
Well then learn Japanese. I can read it but in my opinion it would be wayyyy too nerdy to read all that :D
so I don't...
Fyi people, they already did that with Haruhi. Every student in the class of Haruhi has got their own names and seats.
me 2 which one is inventing all this stuff?
I know all of them. Even their relationships and secrets.
sure you do...*looks at other side*
yeah, that's japan's moonrunes for you
K-on-ology is now a new research area of its own.
If you look closely into the series, there's some pretty deep philosophical themes coming up here and there, revolving around problems of society. Also there's alot of hidden meaning. Also, it's obviously sarcasm.

"so shut up or go do something "non-retard" to Ishihara standarts."
- but following Ishihara standards is there even something non-retarded ?
Reading the novels he wrote probably counts. After all, those are completely innocent and free of any potentially harmful content. :O
> free of any potentially harmful content
Right, they're packed full of SURE-FIRE harmful content.
If a moron like Ishihara considers me a retard, then I don't know why but I feel somehow relieved ^_^
if it makes them happy I have no problem with it
that's still a good think for them
@this anon,"you weren't hugged as a child, were you?"
stop talking to the mirror
you weren't hugged as a child, were you?
It doesn't make them happy, it just makes them feel less sad.
@Riiku and iceburger

Too bad you aint logged in.
I agree. I don't think I've ever felt so much pity for Otaku before. It's just plain sad, honestly.

I don't think I know K-ON!! but I like it!!!
"i might be wrong, but i find it difficult to believe that the makers of k-on even intended all those relationships and whatnot to be there"
Soooo... how, again, is it wrong for people to have fun trying to find out? Am I missing something here, guys?

Come on guys, let's get out of here.
Such powerlevels of faggotry are for futaba-tier otaku only.
and this anon left alone
Anon gonna get spanked if he doesn't get home before curfew.
