Miku Truly “Fantastico”

mikumiku-warfare-by-nyki.jpg

Holographic princess Hatsune Miku’s recent spate of mass media appearances still has not entirely abated – her most recent appearance even sees her seiyuu interviewed by Brazilian TV.

A digest of some of her more notably appearances follows, with thanks to the many kind souls who submitted the news of their nation’s passage into the desmesne of the world’s foremost if not only holographic princess.

On Brazilian TV (again) – but this time with Miku voice model Saki Fujita appearing as well:

On the cover of a Mexican rag:

dia-siete.jpg

On Italian TV (and elsewhere) as “L’ultima pop star giapponese è virtuale”:

Australian free rag – “but Japan’s newest and biggest pop star differs from most of her peers in one crucial aspect – she is a hologram”:

mikumx.jpg

Czech news – “Japonská popová hvězda je 3D hologram školačky!”

Half a dozen Greek news sources covered the advent of Χατσούνε Μίκου as well.

Attack of the Show – now Attack of the Miku.

Sweden takes a break from its customary misandry to cover Miku, as do its Scandinavian brothers Denmark and Finland.

Even the Hong Kong press takes a break from publishing conspiracy theories to acknowledge the might of 初音未來:

miku-hk.jpg

Either the world’s mass media are right and Miku really is a hologram and not something more difficult for an English literature major (or its local equivalent) to understand, such as a “virtual idol,” or 100% of these publications are endlessly recycling the same fluff piece without bothering to check… surely not?

Brazilian TV interviewing her seiyuu = Doing it Right

Australian newspaper categorising Miku with decorated camels and a man being force-fed his beard = Doing it Wrong

Wow I remember reading that MX (Aus newspaper) article a while ago!! MX is a total pile of garbage but everyone who works in city areas and catches public transport home reads it on their trip because it's given out (often by pretty girls) for free.. Never thought I'd see it mentioned here though haha!

Because they're the worst and most annoying playerbase in every online game I've played.
They suck at every aspect of the games and don't give a crap if they ruin it for others or not by being retarded even when they know full-well what they're doing.
They love to insult others in portuguese and be stupid about everything.
Call me racist if you want, but most of you guys don't even try to be any better.

"Call me racist if you want" lie you only say that because you know that you are a racist (as every foreigner) but want to feel better trying to say that you do not care what people think and say so just to type "your racist shit" if someone says this loses a little effect because you've kind of self-proclaimed racist (yes you've indirectly said that) and how is something that you already said it loses all sense but I think it's pathetic and ridiculous to try to do something only for the people do not see you as racist

In defense of the first commenter: brazil somehow houses the most retarded internet users on earth. They are ten times more idiotic than your average btard, and are surprisingly proud of being so dumb. Must be something genetic, merely place a brazilian in front of a pc and he'll regress to a mental age of ten.

But WAT DA FAK ! would these other countries be interested in this in anyone's guess, but very happy they did. The US might be next to fall, not just Attack of the Show and San Fransisco. Afterall the UK Fell. Her plan for world domination has surely begun. ALL HAIL THE VIRTUAL DIVA.

that "*facepalm*" comment in the second video made it for me. I really broke out into laughter, that's too much xD

I know Sega is really great, too bad that those mass media guys don't get it, they're too freakin stupid or either really ignorant (or maybe both???).

And now our fanhearts are crying:
How dare they! Why !? and so on ... but somehow I'm really glad that she's getting "some" western publicity. ^^''

    Comment by Anonymous

It isn't that the mass media don't get it. After all, she's a product of the mass media (in Japan). The problem is hooking the viewer/reader into the story. And outside of Japan, only technophiles and otaku have a clue about the whole deal. It's not part of the popular culture in the rest of the world. So the news coverage has to start from a point that their viewers/readers DO understand (or at least think they do), and the hologram is both a big piece of the technology for the performance and something that viewers are familiar with.

The Brazilian piece leads with the hologram and the concert, but then gets into more detail about the vocaloid technology and a bit with the seiyuu. At least as much detail as a 2-minute newsbite ever does. The only way the general public will ever "get" vocaloids is if one of the technology/science shows does a 10-minute segment or a full 30 minute show on them.

Hitler wasn't praised by his future German supporters right away when he participated in the first world war or had his first speeches.

Some people only started recognizing his charisma, he was getting publicity not as "the man who will save our country" but instead pretty much mocked at by those who didn't actually bother listening to him just once (criticizing before actually knowing what something is about = world-spread human skill), saying he knows nothing, only to later be adored by those same people who didn't actually try to listen to him.

    This will be the same.
Miku will become the world's majesty, and not just our own, this is only one of the first steps of Japan's mastermind plan, k.

Jokes aside (..or not), I don't mind if nothing happens either since I'm content being one of the few who actually know what Vocaloid is in this country.
