“Japan Should Disarm, Even If China Invades”

A Japanese economist suggests Japan should abolish its military as “history will remember us as a kind-hearted people even if the Chinese invade.”
Takuro Morinaga (pictured), an “economic critic” and TV talent known both for his outspoken views on otaku, and for maintaining various creepy hoards of otaku goods himself, spoke to a Tokyo rag recently about his views on the threat posed by China and the response he advocates to it:
I advocate complete military disarmament for Japan. We should abolish all our military forces, and pursue a policy based solely on non-violence.
Even should Japan be invaded by China and the nation completely destroyed, future textbooks will remember the Japanese as a kind-hearted people – that would be good, I think.
Apparently he is not sufficiently astute as to realise just who it is who will be writing those textbooks.
In previous statements he has also said that “we don’t need a self defence force, if North Korea invades we should just fight them with bamboo spears” and, rather traitorously, “if there’s a war, I’ll flee to America.”
That he can go on making such borderline treasonous statements and still easily find media coverage whilst anything with so much as a hint of patriotic sentiment is “killed with silence” by the same sources is rather telling.

If this were real politics, they would not be written as the people who accepted anything. The people who win the wars are the ones who write the history, and by extension, the textbooks. To the Chinese, they would be the weak little upstarts who are rejoining the fatherland after centuries of rebellion. To the outside world, they would be the retards who willingly gave up to a totalitarian army, in other words, a complete moron.
They should learn a little from Israel. They built nuclear weapons to deter terrorism from the outlying areas in the knowledge that if they invade, then they know where to shoot.

many of the problems in japan are caused by foreigners they brought in for menial labor, those people have no jobs now, or easy to get jobs, so they go to crime. they caused that problem.
china is a fucking prick, and if japan wasn't a first world nation with americas backing (its on paper, but if its real or not is yet to be seen), they would have invaded a long time ago.
north korea is firring missiles over japan, as a "test" (show of force to the rest of the world, and hopefully provoking japan to attack so it can claim they were invaded, something i doubt america could or would support, but its possible they would back them)

They did, admittedly, wage more (severe) wars/battles after being introduced to the west, but Japan has never really been a peaceful nation. If it isn't it's own retarded government and politicians stirring up trouble, it's one of it's neighboring countries. They may try to portray the image of being as kind and amicable as Buddha, but deep down; they love to fight. (It's human nature.)

He actually makes sense. Times like these, countries should stop focusing on military and focus on economical improvement. China is the dumbass country for spending so much on warfare. Same with America and those other warfreak countries. Heck! Even our country is dumb. Small poor third world country that could easily be wiped out by a single artillery strike.
Everyone should disarm. Setting a good example is the first step.
In pure logic that is the case. However, there are two important points we need to clear up. First, if every countries disarm themselves then the economy will fall drastically due to the unemployment. In face one of the reason for WWII to happen is because of the Great Depression and in order to recover they had to makr jobs. Then, human emotion is another factor. The whole reason why Japan wants China was because of China's land, which means greed. Another reason is fear, humans deals with fear very poorly. When we fear something we gather in numbers; then destroy that fear. In the end, I would suggest every countries keep their army but not to attack but to defence against others.
This is just what I would do if I run a contry.
Don't forget that disarmament would slow down the advance of technology, since an astonishing proportion of modern technology was invented for military purposes.

Just thinking if Japan wants to build an army to defend itself against China and get all innocent citizens involved in a war just the way it has happened throughout history whenever there's war between two nations which end up being caused thanks to the bright minds of politicians (bright minds, yeah right) and many end up dead;, I would much rather have one of our best fighter get in the ring with whatever asshole leader of whatever nation is threatening our homeland and have him get his ass kicked while we all have the pleasure of watching the event take place on live television, that way none of us have to shed our blood for someone who gives a rats ass for our sacrifices, would be the best thing to ever happen in human history.
And lastly, don't forget in what times we live in. If you expect people to suddenly experience revelation and change of heart, then you can gave up on the world already.
What do I mean? That theory with "Everyone drop your arms!" would work only in a place where values are same for everyone.
The way it is now, certain countries (Russia/China) are getting more bold with their actions precisely because there is NO decisive and harsh reaction from the outside.
Follow the noble idea hoping for others to do the same, and watch your nation being brutally destroyed from the face of the earth, while others observe with mentality "It's not our problem". And certainly, your future adversary won't give a jack about pacifism, and instead will make use of that good-minded naivety for own benefit.

One gets no bonus points for being generally nice, since it's altogether too easy and requires no intellectual effort whatsoever, just a lack of spine - the crucial thing that matters whom you're being nice to.
Also, it has been said that the worst war crime the allies could have committed in WWII would have been to lose it. In a similar vein, if Japan were to sink under the red waves while they could have prevented it, it wouldn't really matter how nice they were in the process, since they would have done the entire world a disservice.
