I was pleasantly surprised as well. It is a series that can speak directly to the hearts of otaku and hikkikomori. Anyone who managed to watch it the whole way through would rank it as one of the best this year.

But seriously, that show was unexpectedly hilarious, filled with cute moe tropes and it is surprisingly watchable and I do anticipate it each week.
And the comedy is the most messed up, Japanesy insanity people come to love about anime pushing envelopes (aka Nipple jokes and bulge-in-the-pants jokes)
I'm kind of glad one of the lesser appreciated shows in the west is #1 over there. I had a laugh. heh

I wish To Aru Majutsu no Index and To Aru Kagaku no Railgun were on the list. At least K-ON!!, Ika Musume, Ore no Imouto, and Strike Witches 2 are on the list.
As for Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, I may as well watch it and see if it's good.

u people are mad? what you are saying about panty and stocking? why no one is questioning the absence of the most seeled bluray of history, eva 2.22 in the list? (it was realeased in 26 May 2010, so it cont as 2010).

Milky Holmes dominates as it should (Twenty should be a lock in the best supporting nipples category) and PS&G sucks squid thankfully 2ch understands that too.

I also try to watch every new series, but milky holmes? I watched the first 5 episodes can just found it to stupid to continue watching.

Ika Musume's pretty good but seriously,why isn't any of the Toaru series there?
Milky Holmes is definitely a troll, The Tatami Galaxy is actually better than K-On!!.
Majutsu no Index II should have been in, Ika Musume doesn't stand near it and is a character ripoff similar as Angel Beats to Haruhi.
I don't really have a problem with this list although it is disappointing (while not the least bit unexpected) that Panty & Stocking didn't make the cut in my humble opinion. The art is hyper-stylized and unique, unfortunately not always a commercially lauded achievement in our moé-obsessed Japanese counterparts.
Sankaku, I am disappointed. I hope I am not the only one who think this list is a GOOD list. Beside 9 and 10, which could have been better with Arakawa and Kami Nomi, it is a good list. PSG, Quaser, as well as Yosuga, DO NOT deserve to be on this list (I don't believe borderline sex anime is the way to go). Angel beats is just not good enough to be in top 10 imo.

Sankaku has just as many people as anywhere who will mistake "best" for "most popular". Besides, there were only enough anime trying hard enough to fill half a top-ten list this year, so let the haters hate.
I'm just happy there were a couple of decent anime higher on the list, and that Angel Beats and K-On didn't win over Tatami Galaxy via sheer attrition.
Tatami Galaxy deserves #1, for being the only truly memorable anime this year. True, Durarara, Kuragehime and a few others were quite good in their own right, but it's clear that the people making this list also wanted some comedy after 2009's extreme lack of anime comedy.

Isn't it a healthy connoisseur's list which doesn't give excessive prominence to moeblob anime and has reasonable exposure of fresh titles? Compare to Newtype or similar...

"Best of the year" lists are always biased towards the more recent entries though as they're fresh in peoples' minds.
Not a bad list. I haven't touched TOMH so can't really pass judgment on it. But it's nice to see tatami galaxy in it and second at that. It wasn't amazing compared to other Yuasa Masaaki stuff but the animation was =Q Could use panty stocking and, in my opinion, arakawa 2 but I understand why it's not there xD

That's not quite true, aside from it ranking so highly. It's not just Milky Holmes - this list has a bunch of fillery moe shows, though they're probably the best ones of the year nonetheless.
It's placement at #1 just shows that people want more comedy that is trying to be funny and moe that is trying to be a bit different. Neither is surprising.
You couldn't find enough shows that deserve to be on a top-10, because even the better ones weren't all that much "better" than the stuff on this list.. Durarara, Giant Killing, and Kuragehime included.

But I really imagined Index and Railgun to be on that list as they are generally pretty popular with our kind.
Is 2ch aware that Highschool of the Dead was out this year? Surely this list is in error.
Is it me or is there no Type A anime in that list? Can 2ch be that messed up to only vote for Type B anime? I'm not saying those anime were bad, but plot is lacking in 4/5 of those listed.
