The helpful graphic above demonstrates the expected devastating effect of the anime industry’s boycott of the 2011 Tokyo International Anime Fair in protest against the Tokyo government’s campaign against manga.
The event itself looks to be in danger of cancellation, but far more damaging is the effect on the reputation of both Ishihara and the Tokyo government – some companies, such as Pixiv below, already seem to be hedging their bets:

Suddenly got a LOT more respect for Bleach/One Piece...
The big 4 are out. Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, and Fairy Tail. The popularity they carry hits this pretty hard by joining the boycott.
? There's no such thing as the "Big 4"
Big 4?
What about no Kiss X Sis?!
Serious wincest is serious win...
When serious incest is serious wincest it's in a serious league of it's own.
new slogan "WINCEST" IT'S SERIOUS.
and doraemon has no influence at all...
Im just saying its been going on for like 20 years now
Not to mention he is the most popular character.
A huge impact indeed, now they are rising ther voice. Japan economy basis also includes anime and manga....without them, you know what will happend.
So the politics should know this, because they are buring themselves.
"without them, you know what will happend."
Another war over oil? *gasp*
No not oil. We will take this war into space and cyberspace. We will create a satellite where anime and digital manga will be free from the tyranny of abusive-morality.
and thus the 2D nation shall rise.
Aain with the privatization of a conceptual otaku nation.... wishful thinker!
No Kobato?! NOOOOOOO!! (In darth vader's style)
What ?
Doraemon is against a loli-ban ? If this won't help, nothing will.
This isn't a loli ban anymore. It's an all ero ban.
Plus isn't this what he wants? To destroy all hentai/anime/manga?
So Doraemon has needs? Hmm...
A lot of tourists go to Tokyo just for the event, so they're gonna have a lot of explaining to do.
I feel bad for everyone who shelled out $2000 for Pop Japan Travel's Tokyo Anime Fair tour package.
Wow! Pixiv going as far as not admitting that their base is Tokyo?
Being a senile old man, Ishihara might still be laughing his ass off at all the butthurt his trolling generated. I doubt petty shit like this would faze him; a seasoned politician who must have used all kinds of dirty shit to keep himself in power until now.
Too many idiots saying "I don't like the animu who got off, so who cares?". Well fucktards, if those animes drop out, the event will also collapse.
Doesn't matter if you think this or that anime is crap or not, this will affect the industry AS A WHOLE.
So you can shove your favorite anime up your ass if you can't understand how important this is.
Unfortunately, Ishihara is so fucking dense that it'll probably require a manga, anime and subsequent japanese economy meltdown for him to understand how much of a moron he is.
By then, I hope he gets raped by tentacles, family members, lolies with huge dildoes or whatever.
i propose him for a saw movie recreation.
wow, more posts shows up in the morning, different timeline I guess...my time here now is 2.40AM
It's 1:05p.m. where I live. Lol. I guess people on Sankaku come from all over.
7:41 pm
guess so -.-
4:25 AM here (Philippines) And I woke up at 12:30 AM. lol
I can't even remember the last time I was awake at 6am.
I'm guessing anon 03:45 must be in Europe somewhere? It's 7:28 pm for me.
9:08 PM here(Warsaw, Poland)
6:10am over here.
Finally the industry as a whole decided to do something to show their displeasure.
Where were their balls when Equality Now ran rampant back then?!
This is probably in reaction to that, I would imagine that since they were ignored last time they won't let it slide any more. I expect to see more of this.
@Tremere
probably tucked between their legs while they clucked like chickens?
Almost as bad as Ishihara from RAINBOW: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin
Ben 10 in an anime expo?
either deacadence, or a conspiracy.
Bleach
Naruto
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Inuyasha
Dragon Ball
Doraemon
Yu Gi Oh 5D`s
Detective Conan (?)
Kimi no Todoke (?)
Yumeriero Patissiere (?)
KissXSis (why... oh well ok)
and some more i dont recognise
the hell are they doing *facepalm*
oh i forgot Major 6th season or something
Major is the best anime in the TAF IMO. Shame that it was pulled off from the upcoming event.
They should have done this years ago! All those shows blow cock. They made this the best Fair ever with their ban!
Unintentional Awesomeness!!!!!!
You know what's wrong with that pic?
They're using that ghost of Kaidan Restaurant pic instead of delicious Anko.
I got the feeling this is what the Governor of Tokyo is thinking:
"Me ->1, Anime/Manga -> 0"
wait to when he sees hi pocket money and the numbers are reversed.
You know what would really be hilarious? If the entire Tokyo-based anime and manga industry got together to stage an anti-Ishihara voting campaign and managed to get someone voted into office who embodies everything he hates. Like Kayo Satoh. :D
how is this hurting the government exactly? isnt this what they wanted?
Nah, it actually tarnishes the reputation that they can't even hold a anime fair without half the companies and studios leaving. And since the Governors the CEO, it shows that he incompetent. If he can't even hold a fair, what makes people think he's still able to run the city. PLus, a reasonable income or attraction is lost so it does hurt the government.
Hurts the economy.
Plus puts the focus on the government when so many big name publishers boycott them.
It is, but it's not what the fans wanted so this will come back to bite them in the ass later on.
actually it could be seen as both. If the event gets cancel then the people that reversed rooms for hotels and whatnot have to cancel there reverstions, something like this could book hotels in a 3 mile raideos, thus cutting the budget cause the hotels would have been getting ready for this and stocking up for the needs of the customer (e.g. food). Same for restaurants and all other types of stores that where getting ready for this event. That is just an amateur look on the encomy.
^ My thoughts exacly.
Now the rest need to man up and boycott.
Another politician that forget where his power is comming from.
well only way i can see this hurting anyone (aside from the fans) is that they will get lower turists comming to the city, hence making tokyo lose the money they would have gotten from those same turists that would have come but are staying away now
Ishihara is an enemy to the anime and manga industry. He must be stopped, no matter the cost
