But... Hideyoshi isn't male. He/she/it's a Hideyoshi.
Joking aside, for popularity lists like these I usually ignore rankings. Just be grateful that your favorite Anime/Anime Character made the list.(^.^)
I was hoping to find Kinoshita Hideyoshi in both lists...
me too,me too
agreed
lol "it's a Hideyoshi" nice!
Hideyoshi and Bakatotest are what matters!
"A wild Hideyoshi O->/+ has appeared!"
I agree yoshii-kun
"It's a Hideyoshi!" Nice new meme, hee hee
So much for the Duesys.
Don't worry, Hideyoshi will have it's own category next time, in which all ten places will have it's name printed with different colors.
Code Geass wasn't a 2010 anime surely?
More like a popularity contest over the years of anime characters. IMO Code Geass made a huge impact in people's mind and still one of the best out there.
nether was gundam seed that was aired quite awhile ago lol
WTF Kira Yamato ? Why can't you just die already ?
SEED Berserker Mode: ACTIVATE!
^That's why....
You need to know he's been in the top 3 for consequtive 4 or 5 years since SEEd debuted in 2003 (correct me if im wrong), and now staying in top 5 is impressive. I liked him actually. He might be a ccry baby but in Seed Destiny he's usually very calm.
i prefer DBZ Kai than Haruhi
u prefer DBZ kai over haruhi yeah... which means there's something wrong with your head
Bad anon!
Kai is just a crappy remake of the original DBZ
and isn't worth the floor Haruhi stands on!!!
I don't know if that was sarcasm or not since kai toke all the crap out of dbz.
"What does sarcasm mean?" ... now that was sarcasm. Sorry but I grew up with the original DBZ, this "new" version just doesn't seem the same, and too much was cut out, not to mention the new voice cast :P. well it doesn't matter now, back on my tantrum that Haruhi isn't first...
*ahem*...................(sob)
This is why you're just an idiot kid.
Sometimes, I think these polls are inflated by fanboys. Like they find ways to voice twice or three times.
It's the only explanation I can come up with for why Bakemonogatari sold more then K-on! and various other anime, yet they always seem to do worst then K-on on these polls.
Or maybe the other fans are just cheap bastards.
Bakemonogatari > K-ON
My Little Sister can't be out from this survey!
BTW: K-ON!! > Bakemonogatari? Man... Those moeblobs...
One must look at such lists in perspective. Anime is very fad oriented and it's already extremely impressive that Bakemonogatari, a 2009 Anime, even made it on to the list.
Unless they're counting those webcasts which finally ended this year.
And yea, Hanekawa Tsubasa <3
Not so much fad as its for 2010. As Yoshii says Bake must be on webcasts and perhaps for extras (DVD).
Either way Setsuna adds "I am Gundam"
俺が!ガンダム!

These moeblobs reign must end!
I was talking about plot and storytelling in terms of the other genres that would be implementing the strengths. But either way, K-on had a plot for example. Anyone who says otherwise has simply forgotten what a plot is.
You say 'plot' as if it only means something to do with murder and epic storylines and some spikey-haired shounen with a blade, gun, or a bladegun. A plot is simply what drives a story. As soon as they made the decision to start a band and work toward something in K-on (ie - episode 1) it officially had a plot as well as something that generated conflict. We saw the conflict. You and many others may have been predisposed to 'conflict' meaning someone getting injured and some kind of chase happening, but it doesn't mean that at all. In fact one key conflict was the fact that they never seemed to want to practice and Azusa had issue with that, and that also lead to character growth and self-discovery.
Everything in K-on went through all the major literary elements in a form that is not particularly traditional to most cultures. It's one of the reasons "Moeblobs" are probably so popular in the short term, much like many other things people determine as 'fads' it has something new that, with time, will find its drawing power becoming less polarizing. But not until we as a culture learn what we were lacking which caused us to be so interested in them in the first place.
Hush now, be quiet and let the moeblob drones fuel more $$$ into the anime industry.
I don't care what name they call them. I honestly don't. Call them Moeblobs, whatever, just keep making the level of character interaction that is making them so enjoyable.
People shouldn't be complaining about moe in the slightest. They're too shortsighted. What they SHOULD be demanding is "Excellent work on those! Now how do we bring the best elements of them into the other genres to strengthen them to this level of audience satisfaction while maintaining/enhancing plot and storytelling quality?"
Too many words.
Too lazy to read.
Hurts my eyes.
Let me just say my opinion.
Moe-blobs are awesome. I don't care if you say there's a plot or not but it isn't just the moe that ropes me in to watch it. I simply love how slice of life anime seriously plays with my innards (i know that ain't the term to use).
Anyway.
It's feel-good, enjoyable, entertaining, and anyone could relate to it. Moe is an uber plus to that. Who wouldn't want that?
Well the answer would be trolls, and those people convinced by them, missing a third of their lives missing the anime.
@Anon 12:37
There is no misconception. In fact the reason I seemingly end up writing term papers on Sankaku's comments is because I comment on many things that bring up unpopular perspectives, and when I don't elaborate, I get comments like yours, so let me try to clarify.
Obviously Moe is an extension of the new cultural revolutions that are coming to fruition. One example is men are beginning to wish to understand women from a new perspective, and even those of us who know women don't act that way do sense the essence of femininity projecting in the character. It's kind of like a new fantasy for the heart rather than a fantasy for the loins. It's a balancing act for our masculine side if that's what we call for. Almost the opposite of the woman wishing for the prince in shining armor if you will.
My issue is these anime are being lumped into a buzz word. And there's no better way to drive mass consciousness of people than with a buzz word and a general overarching emotion attached to that buzz word. Hence why I hate 'moeblob' because you need only say that and hundreds of thousands write it off. It is because of this basic human mindless function that I have little respect for people who are unaware, ie - most people.
The new trends in anime being so unabashedly character driven isn't new, what's new is the presence of so many females in lead roles, meaning that there's an entirely new energy surrounding the idea of people wanting to see femininity in story form, but in a way men can pallet. These don't feel like 'chick flicks' for a reason. Men seek action, and women who are action-oriented strike our male side. But K-on, Hidamari, etc. those are experiments in us being present in that level of feminine and feeling welcome in it without the women having to act like Major Kusanagi or wielding blades.
Now, take THAT feeling, and think about what might happen if you applied it to other genres. Understand what I mean about writing them off as being short-sighted?
Popularity list comes up -> Someone rages
I'll take a piece of what anon 12:37 said.
"Not everyone finds them enjoyable."
But who knows if Majority of Otakus in Japan enjoyed it which by coincidence the list "/sacarsm", comes from a magazine in Japan.
Shocking isn't it.
So if it doesn't cater to you it's just best to brush it off and ignore. Meanwhile I'm good with the list so me and my Horacio gravatar are gonna ride this smooth.
Horacio gravatar so smooth it slipped pass through me.
Moe shows have plot? Since when? I'm a fan of moeshow and even I'll admit that you're doing it wrong if you expect plot out of shows full of moeblobs.
"I don't care what name they call them. I honestly don't. Call them Moeblobs, whatever, just keep making the level of character interaction that is making them so enjoyable."
Not everyone finds them enjoyable. This is coming from someone who loves slice of life and character driven anime. K-ON, for instance, is forced when it comes to character interaction which makes the whole anime feel superficial and shallow.
"People shouldn't be complaining about moe in the slightest. They're too shortsighted. "
That's just straight up ignorant and biased. Moe, as an element to the overall work, isn't a big issue. In fact, when done right, it can add enjoyment to an already well-developed medium. However, moe, at least in the recent years, have become something else entirely. Its genre is based upon the industry trying to milk its fanbase, which, again, results in shallow shows.
""Excellent work on those! Now how do we bring the best elements of them into the other genres to strengthen them to this level of audience satisfaction while maintaining/enhancing plot and storytelling quality?""
You're forgetting that the type of show you're describing have existed prior to the moe-boom. Shows like Martian Successor Nadesico was entertaining because it mixed genres with high level of character interaction and this was made way back when. What moe has done is made Ruri from MSN the made character and put a large amount of focus on her moeness rather than anything else. So by going with your demands, we've basically come back to where the anime industry was prior to the moe-boom.
I'm not a moe-hater by any means and I'm always willing to give any genre or series a try. Just thought I should correct your misconception of the current state of the anime industry.
Moe is the new trollbait.
So did Haruhi. It`s from 2006 and 2009 too. That 3rd position is mainly because of 2006 season.
I can understand that these characters are top 10 but what I CAN'T understand is that none of the characters from "Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai" is not on there! I mean Kyōsuke Kirino, or Kuroneko is not on there!!! This is madness!
you need to understand that the current ongoing season is not included
oops... didn't read those words beneath the chart...
Where's Eden of the East!!?? What moeblob era is this?? It's ok to have that for majority, but feel pity for a masterpiece mass production like this couldn't make it on the list...
I'm more surprised by Angel Beats still being up there.
1. Kyon (Haruhi)
2. Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass) not surprised
3. Otonashi Yuzuru (Angel Beats!)
4. Kira Yamato (Gundam SEED) HOW?!
5. Setsuna F Seiei (Gundam 00) should've beaten Kira
6. Sakata Gintoki (Gintama)
7. Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) i thought he'd be higher ranked
8. Kinoshita Hideyoshi (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu)
9. Ikari Shinji (Evangelion) your not supposed to be in this list come back once you grew a pair!
10. Orihara Izaya (Durarara!!) should be #1 IMO
looks like newtype mag readers have some weird taste in male rankings w/e
..Shouldn't Hideyoshi get his own category..?
They did. Here are the results:
1. Hideyoshi
2. Hideyoshi
3. Hideyoshi
4. Hideyoshi
5. Hideyoshi
6. Hideyoshi
7. Hideyoshi
8. Hideyoshi
9. Hideyoshi
10. Hideyoshi
Kiriki Liszt, Tatsukichi Hayama, Souta Takanashi and Alexander Nikolaevich would fit in that list...
Kira Yamato - HOW?
He's been in top 3 for 4 or 5 consequtive years since around 2003 and ow he's still in top 5 LOL. I liked hi actually, but many others hate him for being the Jesus Yamato in Gundam SEED Destiny. And, i hate Setsuna (for reasons that will make me type an essay here). Seems like I'm the opposite to most people.
Ikari was kinda awesome in the second eva, well I guess it shows that their a lot of Eva fans reading Newtype.
Finally sprouting some balls is awesome in a way.
I totally agree with the Kira Yamato part:HOW?!
I dont know how Kira beat setusnaor how Edward is so low on the list. Other than that the list could be way worse.
yeah kira>setsuna man
in destiny kira grew balls
in the whole of 00 setsuna doing a heero yuy
I guess entries must have finished their runs.
So why the hell do this so early?
And still, where in the FUCK is Highschool?!
they nvr got bored with kira
wtf, Kinoshita Hideyoshi belongs in the "Hideyoshi character" category
im glad they never got bored.
a few misplacements here and there, but I pretty much agree with the lists, i don't know about the male list since i don't care, but for anime and female chars, arrangement actually ain't that bad :/
You don't understand? Then stop eating troll meat and think independently, for you have been convinced and willingly joined in the bandwagon haet wagon.
I don't blame haeters. They just wanna be separated from majotiry's opinions. Since it's "cool" to have the "other" opinion.
You say you don't believe in God, and any divine being, religion is bullshit, and now you really don't. You say titanic is a very bad movie, yet most say it is the best of all time. 911 conspiracy, first man landing on the moon, it's all the same.
Now you've got yourself convinced that K-ON is bad so much, you believe it is, no matter what, for it is now your own personal opinion.
Personally, I hate Code Geass and Gundam. Why? Cuz I hear most people state their "cool opinions". Am I convinced? yes, but I don't troll and give haet comments. I never even watched those two anime series, and I hate it? I bet if I watch them I'd be seriously addicted, just like every single anime series there is out there.
(would I get down-voted for saying I don't like gundam and code geass? :/)
ANYWAY. To summarize all of this=
Don't state you hate. For you will be hated my most. If the reason you troll is to laugh at those hating you, then wtf loser.
So basically what you're saying is that people can't have their own opinions.
Brotip: Writing a textwall doesn't make your argument less retarded.
The arrangement isnt bad but I hate that K-on is number one. I dont understand.
Zombies ate up it.
WTF is kirino......
my little sister can't be f@ck#d up in this count!!
So true, Oreimo should've been there
Jesus Christ Superstar, aka Kira Yamato is STILL beating new characters like Setsuna F Seiei. Holy crap.
thats how you know seed fans never die. or does this mean kira was that awesome? 0.0
