Continuing from the previous article, here are even more mangaka who might never be guessed to be women.
The mangaka:
Kobayashi Ritz (Saki) [Disputed]
Kobayashi Ritsu is resolutely silent on “her” gender, and the information which exists is contradictory – “she” has been drawn as a schoolgirl at least once, been identified as a female when she was an eroge illustrator, and has made various comments which some consider “feminine,” along with displaying a noted refusal to draw panchira.
On the other hand, his Mixi profile identifies him as a male (some speculate so as to avoid unwanted messages) and in another online profile he gave his gender as “I’m a boy, you know!”
There have even been reports that she was an actual schoolgirl at the time of writing, or that he is androgynous.
The truth remains a mystery, but rarely has an author taken such obvious care to ensure confusion reigns.

but Saint Young Men is WIN
Dorohedoro is more of a damn surprise... that manga is so... gruesome.
ya dorohedoro was the biggest surprise for me.so gruesome yet so awesome.
A title like Dorohedoro isn't drawn by a man or a woman. It's drawn by a screwball.
Saint Young Men actually surprised me. Not that I'd have even thought about it, but if I had had to guess, I'd have said a man.
Note to self: Read Dorohedoro...
WHAT!! My favourite author, the one behind Saint Young Men and Arakawa Under the Bridge is a female!!??
Mind Blown.
Indeed, the fact that Saint Onii-san was done by a female truly blew me to heaven.
Peach-Pit are two women, not a singular woman which is how your response read. I wasn't surprised that they were women, but I also had seen them at Anime Expo back in 2006, which was pretty much when I was just getting into DearS, so I didn't have to speculate for long.
Quite a few were no surprise. One of my favorites, Peach-Pit, I always assumes was a woman. It explains the ambiguous targeted audience of Rozen Maiden as well.
Anybody at all surprised about D. Gray Man?
no
saint young man indeed Win !
BTW, she refuses to draw panchira = NOPAN?
confirmed woman logic.

Naw, silly goose. That's the stereotypical role that you get. There is a large amount of division between them but there is no definite limitations to how a man and a woman draws. Just head to your nearest Ero-manga convention and you'll find buttloads of artwork that can also look like it was drawn by women.
True but only one draws at a time, you can usually tell their styles apart.
and she's quite a hottie:

Seriously. If you take a look at most of these you can clearly see that a woman have been drawing them.
There's usually a slight difference in how women and men draw mangas.
Arakawa Under the Bridge = funny as hell :)
The wit and amazing story of SYM, I thought, was undoubtedly just a guy being really terrible, but man, this is really a surprise.
Thought that one was common knowledge.
This isn't a surprise. Everyone knows that the mangaka of Arakawa and Saint Young Men is a woman.
Right... besides, looks like this list is made merely of famous female mangaka who are active in genres different from the standard shoujo/josei fare the public is inclined to associate with...
Redundancy is redundant.
Everyone who has read her manga.
The bonuses clearly indicate that she is female.
Well I'm not really surprised in general
BUT I WANT PICTURES OF THE MANGAKAS GODDAMMIT!
You're probably one of the reasons mangaka like Saki's don't want to be considered female.
Being ambiguous about your gender to your audience is normally a good thing, you get an instant audience for being a woman and less stalkers for possibly being a man.
Showing your picture breaks the image of what people think you look like and can be a career killer.
There's some cute female mangaka at times from what I've seen. For example, the mitsudomoe mangaka is very cute. Mayhaps they're just following their artistic calling. Drawing manga for a living would certainly be fun. Wouldn't always pay the bills, depending on if you have talent and a following, but if you can get paid for doing something you have a passion for, it doesn't really matter if it'll make you rich. Not every person is after only money and not every female wants to showcase their body to the world regardless of its "hotness".
Protip: Some women don't need/want to dowse themselves in makeup everyday to appease people they will never meet... let alone some simply just don't want to deal with a layer of makeup on and off a day.

only the weekly 14-18 page mangakas have it bad with how much time they have.
on that not, not a single one supprised me, though Kamisama no Iutoori! may have if there were any translations of it.
Isn't Kozue Amano a completely female name? I'm asking, not being sarcastic.
I also knew that Sei Oniisan's author is female since a long time ago. That lady's awesome. Arakawa Under The Bridge is also brilliant.
Kozue Amano
i believe that name, kozue was the name of the season two gits:sac 2nd gig kinda bad guy
with an average mangaka schedule, they barely have time to sleep an eat, imagine a girl with no time to do maintenance to herself. Not photo material.
Ummmmm think about it. You don't become a mangaka in Japan if you're a hot looking woman. There's just too much money to be made elsewhere. Now with that in mind, do you REALLY want to see these girls? I'll pass thanks.
Or maybe its because they hate their own stanky hole...and I don't mean the one on the backside...
^_^
WHy? Their looks have no bearing on the quality of their work.
you'd think shota and roji was made by a women too. lulz. shota fits the title more than muhyo :p
i would say...im not surprise with Hidamari Sketch and Aria having girl as the author...
Especially Aria...too obvious...i don't think male author can get that sentimental over silly stuff like shown in Aria world
Well these two authors, Aoki Ume and Kozue Amano, are pretty obvious.
they are... but you can never be sure. at least with aria, the characters are a bit too moe to be be clearly classic girly stuff.
nobuyuki takagi (髙木信孝) is another such example. but he's a guy, according to his website.
Ume-sensei has given the world the infamous widefacemoé, so she should be respected and held in awe.
isnt the technical term 'fatface'?
this would be more interesting:
"Top Loli-manga Mangaka You’d Never Guess Were Women"
I was shocked that Kaworu Watashiya was a woman...
She probably likes her lilies young.
Meh, I don't go around saying "it's a male or female". Seriously, I don't care as long as it's good...
Good for you! Apparently some people DO care >.>;
It's not like something despicable, it's more like a surprise. Like finding marshmallows in your cereal, you enjoy your cereal, but finding marsmallows make it more sweet :)
Mayumi Azuma, Edel Garden YEAH~ <3
And i'm feeling a strong urge to take a look on that one..., obviously.
lol at "Sumomomomomomomomomomomo".
Only because of the title I should read it.
Hehe, he exaggerated the title in the article since it's just so ridiculous ^^ It's actually Sumomo mo momomo in that kind of cadence. Of all of those that one surprised me the most, because it's so utterly crazy in its loli style projections. Nothing compared to Kodomo no Jikan of course, which I haven't even seen but still know of its reputation.
Ehhh, nice ones. I've never thought Ichigo 100% was drawn by a girl XD;; I guess anything is possible haha. It explains some things I guess.
It would explain their well-proportioned bodies.
Not really. I think that what it points to, is that she was properly taught human figure in art school and that she is very precise about what public she aims at.
That and Mushishi were the only ones I knew. The rest of these came as quite a surprise
She is the same creator of Hatsukoi Limited.
I kinda already knew years ago that Kawashita-sensei was a women. I love her style in ecchi comedy and drama.
Aside from Ichigo 100% and Hatsukoi Limited, there's also Koorhime (a one-shot) and Lilith. And yes, I'm a fan of her work. ^_-
