Hayate no Gotoku’s anime version is to receive a theatrical movie, underlining the industry’s newfound preference for movie releases over TV continuations.
Few details have been released so far:
It would appear the theatre/BD combo is fast becoming the preferred medium for anime continuations.
Im actually struggling to watch this anime... Theres so many funny elements (tama, Maria, nagi, etc....) that its worth watching. But 52 episodes plus 24 in season 2. Im only on 18 and Im already finding watching this series as "work".
ohhhhhh fuck. well the only thing we can hope for is Kobayashi writing an awesome and hilarious script for this. kind of like den-o but funnier. otherwise, this is fucked
A-tan, yes woot! And Hinagiku! Well at least with those 2 it'll be considerably harder for the movie to be bad. Who knows maybe it'll get a tv season followup....though considering how many eps it's had so far... =(
That announcement art with Santa cosplay confused me for a second... Since the manga started on Christmas Eve and it's now something like the following autumn, so it can't be Christmas again in the movie (unless the movie is filler).
I would think that part of the Golden Week arc might make a suitable movie... And Santa Athena would be appropriate in that case... but that arc is maybe 40 chapters long? With maybe 20 chapters constituting the more epic parts of it? Hmm.
Announcement art is just for the top two in the latest character poll (Hina's a monster). I doubt it has any bearing on the movie. Even if it did the movie plot would most likely be some sort of filler fluff.
A-TAN !! HINAGIKU !! NAGIIIIIIIIiiiiii11111@!!!!! seriously i like manga and anime, i really think they should make another season... or wait until the manga finished then make another season...
Wow, the entire Greece / A-tan arc to be put on the screen.
After the success of Nanoha, Fate UBW, Gundam 00 and Haruhi movies, and with Fullmetal Alchemist and K-ON soon to come, it does seem to be the trend now for studios to continue their more popular series via movie installments - they need not be distracted by "fillers" while satisfying fans with top quality animation for the arc they most want to see, knowing very well the fans will gladly pay for it.
This is rich. It must be a transition, a phase or something.. I wonder how long it'll last. I'm talking about this sudden bombardment of Film adaptations here.
I had a friend who went into a theater, and the movie really sucked according to him. He unzipped his fleece because it was hot in there and he was already knocked out of the movie anyway because he couldn't stand it, but the sound of the zipper was deeper than expected, and sounded like his crotch zipper. Plus he had just sunk down in his seat a little bit.
Stifling a chuckle at the idea that popped into his head, he calmly took hold of his cheek and with a slight puckering of his lips, began pulling them out and in very rapidly against his teeth.
Go ahead and attempt it, I'll wait...
Said noises were continued in increasing volume for a moment, and then completed with a satisfied "Aaah..." at which point he decided that was the climax of the movie for him, so to speak, and zipped up his fleece and proudly exited the theater which was now filled with quite a bit of staring, gaping, and whispering.
Oh well.... I guess we can kinda see it as having 6 episodes if the movie turns out to be about 2 hours long.
Movies are nice and all, but it's kinda alarming when they're thinking of scuttling a whole series in favor of it.
That said, considering how each of the previous anime seasons has followed Hayate pretty loyally and it's one of the more popular anime/manga franchises, I still expect a return of the TV show to end the story when that time comes.
I'm more worried about smaller manga that may never make it to the TV but only on OVA/Movies. A lot of such cases has happened in the past few years. I guess the bad economy and the way the anime industry in Japan can't seem to figure out how to sell anime in a relatively cheap but profitable manner doesn't help.
I'm curious how Negima will be with its ODA's personally. I haven't watched them yet as I'm nearly caught up with the Manga, however those ODAs, much like Akamatsu's internet distribution idea, may be a worthwhile test that propagates a bit and becomes more refined and streamlined over some further experimentation. Apparently sales were quite good, so I guess they're doing more?
The newest Negima eps kinda baffles me since it just goes straight into the newest Manga angles. I'm not sure how helpful that is to people jumping straight in. It's entertaining but it feels disconnected than just doing a proper series.
Wow, another film announcement... Looks like hikikomori otaku might have to start leaving their house for their anime fix for once.
Im actually struggling to watch this anime... Theres so many funny elements (tama, Maria, nagi, etc....) that its worth watching. But 52 episodes plus 24 in season 2. Im only on 18 and Im already finding watching this series as "work".
A-tan arc is now movie. How awesome is that.
You will now get to see Hinagiku lost in HD and big screen. Oh god fuck yes!!
I was waiting for season 3, but I don't mind if the movie is not bad... it's better than nothing after all. They surely do that to make us wait.
Hope there will be a lot of Hina fan service... First pic is delicious.
I recently started watching this series so i guess this is good news for me :3
ohhhhhh fuck. well the only thing we can hope for is Kobayashi writing an awesome and hilarious script for this. kind of like den-o but funnier. otherwise, this is fucked
lol, imagine all the guys in the theater fap to this. It will be a cumfest!
nice ass O_O
Easy money.
Yet, I have to wait another year or twice to watch the whole movie.. -_-
I felt the same way, it just kept repeating itself. I stopped at 20-somethnig.
That is what you get in fanservice anime. tits ass and no real storyline this is why the industry is in dire straits.
Appropriate picture is appropriate and delicious.
* fap fap fap fap fap fap fap *
I want more HinaxHayate moments~ :3
I demand more Hermione :D
This to the fullest power.
Hina's BA-DONKA-DONK pic fooled me... Damn you artefact!
More fan service and I will be pleased.
Athena!!!
A-tan, yes woot! And Hinagiku! Well at least with those 2 it'll be considerably harder for the movie to be bad. Who knows maybe it'll get a tv season followup....though considering how many eps it's had so far... =(
But...A-tan! <3
I wonder how they are going to squeeze 100+ chapters into a movie, considering the manga is like 3-4 seasons ahead of season 2.
As long as it has a lot of hinagiku I'm happy.
Agree 100%, NEED MORE HINAGIKU
Why is Hinagiku so popular? It's all about Nagi and that other girl who likes eating.
That announcement art with Santa cosplay confused me for a second... Since the manga started on Christmas Eve and it's now something like the following autumn, so it can't be Christmas again in the movie (unless the movie is filler).

Do you know what chapter they left off in anime?
147. With 298 chapters out in Japan now.
I want more fan service...
That better not be Nagi with DD.... D:<
It isn't. Another character entirely. Hayate does the smart thing and dumps the broad so he can focus on maintaining his loli harem.
I WANT SEASON 3 more than a MOVIE
and why the heck u superimpose my wife pic?
and when do we, none-japan-living-people, get to see the movie(s)?!?
still waiting for gundam00 movie to be released on dvd when people in japan already saw it 5 months ago

A win-win solution at last perhaps?
Fuck Yes. FUCK YES.
This is rich. It must be a transition, a phase or something.. I wonder how long it'll last. I'm talking about this sudden bombardment of Film adaptations here.
The translation says "Number 1 Request: Hinagiku Blah" and "Number 2 Request: Athena".
I guess nagi and hina-chan will have another shot at 2ch's saimoe in the near future
I heard this film will be made by Manglobe, which produces The World God Only Knows, not JC staff.
Movie to fill in athena arc then 3rd season would be awesomeness in my pants
It's produced by Manglobe guys... Look what they did to TWGOK. I was hoping for SynergySP to do this movie. T_T
Awww Nagi got a movie for her birthday!
why.... just why....
I'd prefer another season of Hinagiku goodness rather than a movie anytime...
Movies just leave you with a limp d*ck...
Especially if you know you can't fap to it in the middle of the theater... Or can you?
People around you can't see but they can smell it. Especially, a mysterious liquid suddenly stick on someone head ...
I've fapped in a brightly lit tuition center room during a class before when I was... around 11 or 12?
A darkened cinema should be no problem.

I love my friends.
PeeWee Herman did it
lol it should be no because it smells like bleach. since they have bleach with them they wont notice it was a different substance.
If the cleaner's cute, I'd help to mop some floors with her.
^This wasn't part of the cleaner's job description, cleaning off....
^^^ I weep for the future... and the sanctity of our world's movie theater floors.
A-Tan's first major animation will be in movie format? think that's a win...
Oh well.... I guess we can kinda see it as having 6 episodes if the movie turns out to be about 2 hours long.

it will most likely cover the Athena Tennos Arc

Why indeed.. Did the second series even get to finish airing?
Forget how western audiences and sub groups wouldn't touch it with a 10 thousand foot pole, it did awful in ratings/sales in Japan..
It's like if they gave To Love Ru a fricking movie also..
