Even You Can Find a Partner! 35% Succeed in Ota-Konkatsu

The organisers of the recent Lucky Star Konkatsu dating event are crowing over the fact that “35%” of the otaku participants successfully formed nascent otaples.
Of 40 people, 20 male and 20 female, 7 couples were successfully formed in the event, which took place amidst the terribly romantic setting of the Lucky Star shrine. Reportedly many other participants also went on to drink together after the event as well.
Whilst considered promising by some, the fact that male applicants (who had to pay $100 to enter whilst women got in free) outnumbered female applicants 3:1 does suggest there might be problems if the practice takes off on a larger scale.
With 500 applicants for 40 places it seems likely future events along these lines will not be long in coming in any case.
2ch is of course the acknowledged authority on matters when it comes to being sad and lonely:

They were probably all just a bunch of normals pretending to be otaku anyway.
There are hot guys who are otaku and cute girls who are fujoshi – that’s the only reason.
If they had no results nobody would go to the next events. The organisers probably did some work behind the scenes to fix things…
I’d like them to tell us what the age breakdown of the participants was. Probably all in their twenties.

I thought this would fail completely but 35% is pretty good – I hope it works out in future too.
Well, the people going to this were probably all of that age. If you miss this you may be single the rest of your life.
Conclusion: you can’t really be satisfied with 2D.

Do you seriously think that these people ever stated that 2D was better than 3D? No! Most otaku clearly states they want a real girlfriend. Some say they don't mind, and some say they don't want one at all.
Don't go around thinking that everyone is the same. Even if these people think 2D girls are better, perhaps they don't mind having both!

3D is illegal, which can be a hassle if you don't make extensive preparations in advance.
Otherwise yeah, it's more or less a matter of taste. If you don't have the money/guts to get a sex doll or another toy, you'll have to get 3D for the 'real feeling'.
And then you actually find someone as haruhi, minus the all mighty deus-ex machina powers, and you realize that going to the approach 2D is best is simply HELL in real life, and you get scarred till you actually found a nice normal girl.

id be classified as an otaku, and i don't want a girl, well, normal girl. i take haruhis approach to people, i want someone interesting, not just some woman that hangs on me like a wallet leach. is the perk of sex realy worth all the work you have to put into it? i mean these women want a man who is devoted to something and will do everything they can to change them to be that devoted to them.
if i found an abnormal girl, as in attractive, shares my interest, and is better than me at games, than hell yea i would want here. it would also help if she was smart too. i know in typing i dont come off as smart, but there are few people who i knew who were capable of having an intelligent conversation with me about the fucked up. and yea i love playing with people in real life who are better than me at games, its fun getting my ass kicked in real life sadly, i am the best person around at games where i live.

LORD JEESAS, it's a dating service not an arranged marriage.
Marrying someone with the same tastes as you probably is more successful than forced marriages and marriages only based on superficiality of looks alone.
