Maybe the birds and black cat was already friends for a long time, hence the support on ganging up on the other cat.
For me this portrayed how the current situation of otaku gatherings in Ore no Imouto Ep2.
It was like, the white and black stripe is kirino since she actually had black hair and bleached her hair to blond, so this cat is her. The black cat is kuroneko because she is Kuro_Neko, nuff said.
The bird that always pecking white cat's tail is Kyousuke, he wanted to help the white cat get friends but instead get yelled with her mechanical hand or ...tail. The bird also the one that always cheered her by petting her head, or ...pecking her tail but the white cat doesn't liked it too.
Obviously, the other bird is Saori, the bird that always look to both of them at distance, she noticed the other bird(Kyousuke) looking a lot at the white cat and assumed he is her girlfriend. She also wanted to help the white cat to communicate with her and her other friend. So she introduced her to Kuroneko. The cat that also alone in their meeting.
Noticed they were also in the same situation, or ...the same species. The white cat tried to talk about her favorite anime, Meruru. But the black cat doesn't seem amused by this and attacking her that it is childish and low quality anime. Of course, the white cat doesn't agree and defensing her opinion. While the two birds cheering tried to calm them down, especially Kyousuke.
And so on, the conflict grew stronger as we can see in episode 7. The white cat and black cat stopped their fighting for a while as they tried to prove their opinion by watching Meruru, of course by raping their opponent in their novel or ...mind before started to lowering down the moral of enemy. The two birds, Saori and Kyousuke were also present.
However, instead putting out the fire, it became even bigger as we know. The God knows, or...the creator of Ore no Imouto knows when the epic battle of cats will be ended.
And so... a fan-fiction with a very unrelated incident has born.

The black cat attacked the white cat because he noticed him wagging his tail from one side to the other. The black cat thought the white cat was provoking him or just letting him know that he didn't like him (The tail wagging was directed at the birds but the black cat didn't know that).
At first I thought maybe the black cat was gonna help the other cat then I saw it attack the other cat and thought: So it was working with the birds the whole time >_<

Alley cats can fight dogs and win. In my neighborhood, my cat beat up the territorial dog and claimed the street. All the other cats stayed at the streets ends from then on.

What happened here, from the view of someone who had 2 cats as pets. This was a territorial battle.
The birds were native to the area.
The black cat was the territory's owner. Notice how the cats don't care about the birds at all, the black cat thinks he owns them because they reside in his territory.
Now the black cat is actually the "KIND" cat here. Kuroneko is defending his territory and the things in it, such as the birds. The white cat is just an intruder. The result of the fight will 90% have no deaths, but with a bleeding loser who has to go elsewhere for territory. I know this because I've seen my cat fight invader cats and the losers would go elsewhere and you can hear the sad injured Nyaa! calls of the loser cat. It's quite depressing to hear actually.
