The 7 episode of Ore no Imouto may have lacked the moe meganekko of the last episode, but in return provided plenty of the show’s resident goth-loli Ruri, as well as some more of the none-too platonic brother and sisterly relationship between Kyosuke and his moesome imouto.
It should be remembered that this series is only a 1-cour run, in this particular case meaning a 13-episode run, so there will be merely five more episodes in total following this one.
The six light novels (and two manga tankoubon) released thus far do provide quite a lot of possible material for TV adaptation, but given the TV series’ method up until now of adapting the source material, it is still unclear what sort of conclusion the anime will end on – the author is also hinting at a romantic twist in the upcoming novel, further complicating predictions.
This episode, along with the next couple, is still too far away from the finale to base a reasonable assumption as to the production’s plans for the ending, but keeping an eye out for clues in the coming episodes will be a good idea for fans familiar with the novels.
On to the episode proper:
Kuroneko makes a surprise visit.
The color of her cheeks looks more delicious than usual above…
The show’s OP always has a few changes; this episode’s even includes includes the cute Meruru:
Ruri’s tea-drinking looks oh so ladylike.
Ruri does a good Kirino impersonation (this is actually what she is doing here).
The book that Kirino shows to Kyosuke is again drawn by an actual doujin artist 嵐月/ STORMOON of circle CREAYUS (website here).
Creayus’s most noteworthy work is a bevy of gorgeous Code Geass art, especially of C.C., so sampling some of Stormoon’s art on the Channel is definitely recommended.
The party sits down together to watch Kirino’s favorite anime 星くず☆うぃっちメルル/ Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru.
Kyosuke’s reaction to the amount of service from little Meruru’s henshin (transformation) sequence:
The song (simply titled “Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru”) that plays during the show is sung by seiyuu 田村 ゆかり / Yukari Tamura, voice of none other than that supreme mahou shoujo Nanoha Takamachi herself.
Kirino’s dancing to the song looks great – watching her locks of hair bounce to and fro is delightful.
She even does Ranka’s Kira☆!
Kuroneko is sadly unable to appreciate the positivity of this sort of show, however.
The CM bumper has this fun parody of the Love Plus games.
The title of Kirino’s planned book has a fun pun of sorts that may not be explained in subtitles, so here is a quick explanation:
妹星 / Mai Sutaa is spelled with the kanji for imouto (little sister) and then the kanji for hoshi (star).
The furigana hovering over the kanji explain how the word is to be pronounced, “Mai Sutaa”, which means something like “Little Sister Star”, but since the “mai” reading of the imouto kanji sounds just like the English “My”, so the title could also mean “My Star”.
“Beegle”.
Shibuya’s overcrowded train station area.
The famous Hachiko statue, as seen in countless movies and doramas.
Kirino likes shiny things.
Kyosuke reacts as you’d expect at being asked to buy something like that.
Kirino manages to wrangle these earrings out of her brother, at least.
Kyosuke truly is in an unenviable position here – keeping a little sister like Kirino might be as expensive as keeping a girlfriend, but in his case, he doesn’t get to enjoy of the benefits (at least not this early in the plot).
A lightly moistened Kirino.
Kirino’s nude bathing figure, sadly obscured by the very opaque glass.
Kyosuke is understandable excited…
A call from the lovably moe Manami.
Manami:
“Kyou-chan…you wouldn’t happen to be… with a girl, or anything like that right now, would you?”
Kirino’s line here is great:
“Disgusting…you’re getting turned on by your own little sister?!”
The ED this episode is shortened by having much of the credits play over the couple talking, but the short ED does feature another new image song, “Masquerade!”, sung by Kuroneko.
Kuroneko’s seiyuu, the popular 花澤香菜 / Kana Hanazawa, best known for her incredibly moe-sweet sing-song voice used in roles such as Bakemonogatari’s Nadeko or Angel Beat!’s Tenshi, is a treat to listen to, so the song is a must for fans of her voice.
The gorgeous illustration that lurks behind the ED and that is used as this episode’s ending image is by 宇木敦哉 / Atsuya Uki (personal website here), a mangaka who is probably best known for also directing the Aniplex-produced movie Cencoroll in 2009.

watching it currently, hmm could this actually turn into a bro-sis love?
"could this actually turn into a bro-sis love"
God I hope so.
"God I hope so"
Agreedo.
The novels say yes, but also no. I kinda expect a harem end. Nothing wrong with that. :3
Harem end is always the correct end.
Because everyone is happy :D.
Everyone but the viewers.. :<
Why not? Everyones fav girl scores, everyone is happy.
Inconclusive harem end is most likely, but who knows, maybe there will be wincest. Or they might even troll everyone with the dreaded "father route"...
What's the father route?
Kirino: Kyosuke. I am your daughter.
Kyosuke: No... that's not true! That's impossible!
Kirino: Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
Kyosuke: NOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOO!
Kirino is only delaying the inevitable...
HHHHNNNNGGG!
Come on, it's getting nowhere. They've even been in a love hotel, but nothing at all happened. If Kirino was turning into a loveable girl by now as an orderly tsundere, we'd see something nice, but as of now, it's not happening :S
am I the only one that wants to see a Manami ending??
While i keep my .gif of kirino bobbing back and forth doing kira at the end to myself...
NO WAY MINAMI FTW
Bullshit.
Kyouske x Kirno FTW!
Typos....but still,
Kyousuke x Kirino FTW
I doubt it'll turn into a Koi Kaze
The wincest signs are getting more obvious apparently. Anyone betting on fan-rage when they put up a crappy ending for this show?
the fan-rage is the only upcome if such ending appears, there's no doubt on that.
I'm hoping for the non-too-used pregnant end, just because it'll make such a moralfag stir =P
He could knock them all up. Certainly would be fun. :3
That's the path to the Nice Boat ending...
I'm actually hoping that unless he hooks up with normal girl, there's no actual relationship in the ending. I think that the series should focus on Kirino's path to becoming a social and well-adjusted Otaku, and not really derail itself with too much relationship drama besides Kyosuke ruining his reputation with absolutely everyone for our base amusement.
Although Kirino is the closest to him, she has the biggest disadvantage among all would-be girlfriends of Kyousuke, and you guys know why.
On another note,I'm hoping for them to let the audience see Saori's face even if only a glimpse of it, man she should lose those thick scuba googles and show her goods.
we all hope so.. :D
That incest thing is just trolling, expect the most boring ending in anime history...
And where's Ayase, I want my yandere back T_T
Why no Ika or MM! reviews, those shows are much better.
My little imouto's show cant possibly be worse than those. It's better.
My little sister cant be that worse than those
My little squid can't be this overlooked.
My little MM! Cant be this neglect played .
My little loli gothic cant be this angelic!
My little penis can't be this tiny.
self owned
I don't have time this season for more reviews than Index and Ore no Imouto, and those two shows (Ika and MM!) come out on bad days for me in the week.
Sorry Alex.
"Ika and MM! come out on bad days for me in the week"
- that's a pity, you are really missing something...
MM! is shit, seriously even the fan service in it is bad
$#$@ you. Pervert Goku rox
Don't worry, you are reviewing the best and most important shows this season already.
While I do enjoy both of those shows, albeit being sorta fresh imo for being a show solely about characters each with their own fetish, saying MM! is superior than OreImo needs more than personal opinion and bias combined.
Ika Musume on the other hand has been constantly good so far.. though that might have something to do with Ika-chan's cute voiceactress, which is also Sorami Kanata's in Sora No Woto.
It doesn't matter what ending they choose. What matters is the fun of the ride. And if we have to, we'll wait for a next season.
Yeah, I seriously doubt this is it. There's way too much material left to animate, and the heap is still growing.
Well, whether or not we will see more anime adaptation/continuation, it's all up to whether the publisher would give the go ahead to animation studio/company...I mean just look at Full Metal Panic...the novel ended already, and it's been years since TSR and still no sign of anime continuation...
would love a season two
ONE MORE COUR! ONE MORE COUR! ONE MORE COUR! /or at least until the story gets a satisfying, novel-loyal finish.
I won't be happy until I get a Kyo X Dad ending.
Noooooooooooooo~
Crazy enough, at least that could be a potential game-loyal ending XD
LOL! It continues...
If anything... the dad is a cool character. Why no loving for him? u_u
LMAO!
But why did they fucked up the basic story of Kirino's novel? It was pure rage material.
For that exact reason I guess.
