The 7 episode of Ore no Imouto may have lacked the moe meganekko of the last episode, but in return provided plenty of the show’s resident goth-loli Ruri, as well as some more of the none-too platonic brother and sisterly relationship between Kyosuke and his moesome imouto.

It should be remembered that this series is only a 1-cour run, in this particular case meaning a 13-episode run, so there will be merely five more episodes in total following this one.

The six light novels (and two manga tankoubon) released thus far do provide quite a lot of possible material for TV adaptation, but given the TV series’ method up until now of adapting the source material, it is still unclear what sort of conclusion the anime will end on – the author is also hinting at a romantic twist in the upcoming novel, further complicating predictions.

This episode, along with the next couple, is still too far away from the finale to base a reasonable assumption as to the production’s plans for the ending, but keeping an eye out for clues in the coming episodes will be a good idea for fans familiar with the novels.

On to the episode proper:

Kuroneko makes a surprise visit.

The color of her cheeks looks more delicious than usual above…

The show’s OP always has a few changes; this episode’s even includes includes the cute Meruru:

Ruri’s tea-drinking looks oh so ladylike.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_06

Ruri does a good Kirino impersonation (this is actually what she is doing here).

The book that Kirino shows to Kyosuke is again drawn by an actual doujin artist 嵐月/ STORMOON of circle CREAYUS (website here).

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_09

Creayus’s most noteworthy work is a bevy of gorgeous Code Geass art, especially of C.C., so sampling some of Stormoon’s art on the Channel is definitely recommended.

The party sits down together to watch Kirino’s favorite anime 星くず☆うぃっちメルル/ Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru.

Kyosuke’s reaction to the amount of service from little Meruru’s henshin (transformation) sequence:

The song (simply titled “Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru”) that plays during the show is sung by seiyuu 田村 ゆかり / Yukari Tamura, voice of none other than that supreme mahou shoujo Nanoha Takamachi herself.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_17

Kirino’s dancing to the song looks great – watching her locks of hair bounce to and fro is delightful.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_18

She even does Ranka’s Kira☆!

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_19

Kuroneko is sadly unable to appreciate the positivity of this sort of show, however.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_20

The CM bumper has this fun parody of the Love Plus games.

The title of Kirino’s planned book has a fun pun of sorts that may not be explained in subtitles, so here is a quick explanation:

妹星 / Mai Sutaa is spelled with the kanji for imouto (little sister) and then the kanji for hoshi (star).

The furigana hovering over the kanji explain how the word is to be pronounced, “Mai Sutaa”, which means something like “Little Sister Star”, but since the “mai” reading of the imouto kanji sounds just like the English “My”, so the title could also mean “My Star”.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_22

“Beegle”.

Shibuya’s overcrowded train station area.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_24

The famous Hachiko statue, as seen in countless movies and doramas.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_25

Kirino likes shiny things.

Kyosuke reacts as you’d expect at being asked to buy something like that.

Kirino manages to wrangle these earrings out of her brother, at least.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_31

Kyosuke truly is in an unenviable position here – keeping a little sister like Kirino might be as expensive as keeping a girlfriend, but in his case, he doesn’t get to enjoy of the benefits (at least not this early in the plot).

A lightly moistened Kirino.

Kirino’s nude bathing figure, sadly obscured by the very opaque glass.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_37

Kyosuke is understandable excited…

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_38

A call from the lovably moe Manami.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_39

Manami:

“Kyou-chan…you wouldn’t happen to be… with a girl, or anything like that right now, would you?”

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_42

Kirino’s line here is great:

“Disgusting…you’re getting turned on by your own little sister?!”

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_43

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_44

The ED this episode is shortened by having much of the credits play over the couple talking, but the short ED does feature another new image song, “Masquerade!”, sung by Kuroneko.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_45

Kuroneko’s seiyuu, the popular 花澤香菜 / Kana Hanazawa, best known for her incredibly moe-sweet sing-song voice used in roles such as Bakemonogatari’s Nadeko or Angel Beat!’s Tenshi, is a treat to listen to, so the song is a must for fans of her voice.

ore_no_imouto_ga_konna_ni_kawaii_wake_ga_nai_episode07_46

The gorgeous illustration that lurks behind the ED and that is used as this episode’s ending image is by 宇木敦哉 / Atsuya Uki (personal website here), a mangaka who is probably best known for also directing the Aniplex-produced movie Cencoroll in 2009.
