China has seen to it that Japanese clothing is banned from an upcoming APEC summit to be held in Japan.
The APEC summit, to be held this year in Yokohama, will see Asia-Pacific leaders gather to discuss various issues, primarily economic.
Traditionally the summit location rotates through the member nations and a noted part of the event is a photo opportunity in which leaders dress up in the national costume of the host (as can be seen above with the premiers of Japan and China embracing each other whilst dressed in traditional Chinese clothing).
This year however, Japan has once again succumbed to Chinese pressure and cancelled the leadership cosplay event entirely.
Some sources connected with the event have tried explain the change as “in order to show signs of economy amidst a financial crisis” but others have frankly admitted “it was because China disapproved.”
Wearing traditional Japanese clothing, or even clothes which can be mistaken for it, is on occasion enough to provoke attack by mainland Chinese, and Hu Jintao probably did not wish to be shown so dressed, although this does not explain why he did not simply refrain himself.

Well guys, I have to admit what anon @12:08 said was true, that China is a bully but not an admirable one. But my point is even if they are the bullies, what can Japan do? Nowadays, almost anything that is related to money must go through China, and this includes America. If China were to get pissed off by Japan, Japan is screwed. But as you can see Japan is try to act as mature as possible(unlike China which is nuts) trying to avoid conflict. Why you ask? Simple. Japan is putting their people first, and from WW2, they know all to well that pride is useless and their people is most important and they will give up their pride(although not entirely). Whereas China has never felt this kind of power and this feeling of pride before. And now that they have it, they are enjoying every moment of it, just like Japan during WW2.
Yes, it seems that Japan is making dumb decisions, causing them to lose their pride but it is not because their are stupid, it's because it is for the greater good of their country. Before long, it will be your turn too America.
But I also believe that this is only the first phase. If I am the strategist in this I will give a weak impression to the enemy. If they continue to harass you. You finish them off with one decisive blow. You learn that from zen lolz. But by looking weak, your enemy will let his guard down and all his weaknesses will be shown(like how China is too full of themselves).
