A detailed diagram of none other than Nagato Yuki‘s very own home is featured in this month’s issue of a Tokyo housing magazine.
The otaku taste for dabbling in architecture is well established, but Nagato’s apartment likely ranks up higher than most other such schematics.
The magazine is 都心に住む / Toshin ni Sumu (Living in The City), and the appearance of Nagato’s residence is part of an article entitled “A Home Where The Entire Family Can Relax” – a nod to the fact that, by Japanese standards and certainly by Tokyo standards, it is a gigantic familial residence.
Nagato’s apartment, or マンション / manshon (“mansion”), as the Japanese oddly call this sort of concrete-constructed apartment (the term “apartment” is reserved for shoddy wooden structures), is worthy of further study.
Not all of Nagato’s apartment is shown, and the apartment shown here is definitely on the large size, but it might be reasonable given the obvious luxury of Nagato’s building…
The ”washitsu” (Japanese-style room) above the red “Living” (living room) is obviously connected to the events of Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu movie:
The living room is where the table stands; the door to the washitsu is to Kyon’s back and left.
The “DK” (“Diner Kitchen”) does explain exactly where Nagato disappeared to to fetch the plates the oden meal – she merely seemed to disappear towards the front door, only to return with the utensils a few minutes later:
More information on the Toshin ni Sumu magazine can be found at their official website; the issue with the Nagato mansion diagram is the 1December issue.

The world is becoming otaku...
And to think I thought I was the only person who figured out the schematics for Kuroi Mato's house. D:
So Yuki, can I come over? ^_^
It comes complete with Kyon and Mikuru in the other room.
I'd rather have Nagato with Kyon's sis instead.
I'd... be lying if I didn't agree with that...
Dont be greedy.. I'd take the room with Tsuruya only, please :O
Yuki you got to tell me how you got that house. It's Awesome!!!
i don't know what you are talking about ;)
i don't know what I'm talking about ;)
"The world is becoming Otaku"... you know, there's something to be said for that being a somewhat poetic, if not majestic statement. Would it really be so bad if this type of thing is the conduit with which people were reborn with passion about things again. The consistent uncertainty and the exposed lies of that which we considered magical in our youth, such as church, has come and gone, and most of us in the younger generations are sick of being fed lies, so rather than follow those lies out of submission, I think in some form... in ways that probably aren't even familiar to us... we're somehow building a new form of passion and imagination into the world.
That's different than just liking anime or manga, that's just fandom. The Otaku who function in society take on a new level of accountability and passion compared to most others, and it scares the masses, even if these otaku are more 'normal' looking. Those of us who have figure collections and wall scrolls and read manga in bed while going to work every day and constantly striving for more.
It may seem a bit strange to consider it, but perhaps in the right hands Otakudom is quite the powerful tool as a vehicle for change.
In other word.. Moe(passion one)?
Yup, it is. Real world with buildings from anime would be cool.
Real world with girls from anime would be even better.
Can I has Hanaukyo Mansion complete with maids? :3
Seriously? They haven't released it on DVD yet!?
For the movie?
You might wanna mark 18th December....
How christmassy.
But damn, that is so long!
Does house come with Yuki?
I want Tsumugi's mansion, with her of course included :3
Mugi-licious eyebrows and all!
Don't forget the cakes and that amazing Kobe beef.
Oh, Mugi overwhelms me!
porque los perros tiene pulgas y las pulgas tiene pulgitas
Por que las pulgas te sobran y los perros te buscan. Amigo.
needs more rooms for yuri
Yuri makes efficient use of space, but I suppose if you wanted to invite all the girls in your class over... <.<
Just use the big room as orgy temple and you're set.
Yes hot steamy bodies =^_^=
More than enough room for Kinect!
Um, random much? Those people who write these articles really have too much time on their hands.. or is this a strategy to get more buyers? Sure creepy otakus, but otakus who buy their stuffs.
I merely wrote the article since I am an otaku, and this is what I regard as one of my otaku activities.
Trust me on this. ^^;
This looks like a pretty big apartment by any standards, but considering how small my place in Kyoto was and my even smaller hotel room in Tokyo, this place is a literal mansion by comparison. I'd be blessed if I could live in a place like that, although to be fair, since they live in a fairly small town in the Kansai it's not AS ridiculous as it would be in Tokyo.
Does it come with a free Yuki? Although I'd prefer a Haruhi, she can actually hold a conversation--I'll pass on the Mikuru though, useless moe blobs will just suck down on my wallet.
It's also a penthouse suite in downtown Kyoto.
Nagato is for all intents and purposes a Trillionaire, she just doesn't live the lifestyle expected of one.
the red area is where you go to die.
A visit to Yuki's would probably be the best you'll ever have with a (true) girl.
Oh, you don't want to go looking at apartments with a girl...
--
Why do fansubbers fuck up mansion -> apartment translation so often?
"A one room mansion (wan rūmu manshon ワンルームマンション) is a Japanese apartment style in which there is only one small room (10 m2/3.0 tsubo; 110 sq ft in many cases) and usually a compact bathroom. This is equivalent to the western style studio apartment."
Cool, I'm going to start telling people I live in a one-room mansion. They'll be so impressed. (Instead of taking pity on me when I say I live in a little studio apartment...)
Next issue will probably have the house schematics of the characters in K-On
Kyoani's next troll move. "Real Estate"
Have you ever dreamed of living with Nagato Yuki, Mugi or even Konata? Well then, all you have to do is buy a real estate from Kyoani's tro... I mean "Kyoani's 2D --> 3D Homes". 2D not included.
Maybe I am just missing it, but I don't actually see any measurements here.
lol next thing you know everything is now anime brand
....oh wait it's already happening
This is a great article & I would like a place like this...though I am sure I will never be able to afford it...
Thanks, glad you liked it.
This is awesome but I know clear well that I will never be able to afford this for sure...
I always thought it was a pretty cool apartment.
