4,500 Rally Against China – “Freedom & Peace in Asia”

The leaking of the Senkaku ramming video the state tried to suppress has prompted yet another flag waving march through Tokyo in the name of “freedom and peace in Asia,” apparently larger than previously.
The demonstration took the form of a peaceful flag waving procession through central Tokyo, including Ginza. Just how big the demonstration actually was is not clear, but published estimates in the Japanese media are higher than previously, at 4,500 or so.
The demonstrations appear to be rapidly gaining an air of respectability in the face of Chinese provocation and government incompetence – not only did major rags actually cover the procession, but an LDP diet member and former defence minister, Yuriko Koike, attended and gave a speech.
The tone of the demonstration also took on a more international perspective – placards challenged China’s efforts to dominate Asia, and Tibetan and Vietnamese dissidents addressed the crowd in Japanese.
The media is stressing a more mainstream participation in the demonstration after the leak of the videos, saying for the first time housewives and students were participating (although this is probably a fabrication as plenty of female participation was visible even in the first event).
The obligatory carefully selected quote, in this case from a 34-year-old Chiba housewife attending for the first time:
“I wanted to attend before but with the leak of the video I’m furious with China. The government too is outrageous, how dare they try to hide a video like that – I had to attend.”
It seems Japan’s grossly incompetent government has done more to harm long term relations with China by its subservient toadying than any anti-Chinese government ever could have done by deliberate action.

Its ok lets just wait till more countries joins against the chinese cockroaches!
Look at these racist comments (against Chinese) getting voted up.
Is your self-esteem higher?
I'm Chinese, my best friend is Japanese. How do we solve our problems? Yu-Gi-Oh cards of course, it always work. Both Prime Minister of Japan and Prime Minister of China (Everyone knows the President of the CCP does shit) should try it, it does wonders.
Or play mahjong, everyone loves mahjong, especially Asian senior citizens.
Asian? which Asian?
Well, it may work, 'till you lost the game and have to pay out to the winners.
my mom plays mahjong too
whats weird though is that she's white...or is she? >_>
I' am Japanese.I like most of Chinese people, but I hate the Chinese Communist Party like other japanese. My English is bad,sorry...
Chinese Communist really loves to butthurt ppl
no worries we here at the complex hate the ruling communist party as well ^.^
it's time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d-DUEL!
I think the problems that you settle are much more important than the stupid uninhabited islands between Taiwan and Okinawa. And you handle it with more maturity than the 'leaders'.
I'd rather have the chinese government and the japanese government fight each other to the death.
Bread and circuses, worked once, will work again.
Most well dressed protesters I ever saw.
in japan everyone is "well dressed"
No they aren't.
I like where this is going. Multiple countries will work together against China. The japanese populace will bring down their cowtowing government.
All according to keikaku.
*yawns*...This thing still not settled yet? It's just the same shit we've seen everywhere else...well some of us who don't stick their heads into the ground and ignore similar crap that's happened. Protest this, protest that. Followed by more bitching and baawing from both sides. My piece of rock, no my piece of rock. Nationalist tards start antognizing more. Trolls, racists, haters, weeaboo's, nationalists, band wagon jumpers, propagandists, mindless sheep, "freedom" people, hypocrites, "moral" zealots, dicks, ass and pussies takes advantage of the ragefest to bitch about each other. Then finally business as usual.
Well might as well grab the popcorn and watch the fireworks...again.
whut type of popcorn and where r the seats >:D
*grabs a bucket of popcorn and shares with ANON*
This ain't gonna settle anytime soon. For as long as the Chinese government gives the people someone to hate more than themselves, the people aren't going to be pointing their torches and pitchforks at them.
Just like 1984.
The Americans should just sink that islands and nobody can have it (no-one lives on it, right?), problem solved. Geographically the island is so much closer to Taiwan and no where near the Country of Japan. Theoritically it should belong to Taiwan, of course China would claim Taiwan as part of China etc.. Take care of the source of the problem first.
We let them get this close to us in terms of economics via outsourcing major manufacturing plants there.
Now we realize we've been played in the long run. It's like that Mahjong game.
now the million dollar question is:
will the Japanese government do anything?
More like: Will it be toppled and when?
They just need to kill China whit a F-ing nuclear missile kill the china pest >:)
Yes, because a nuke always solves the problem and has absolutely no consequnce in this day and age lulz.
hey dumbshit hows ur life peaceful? "They just need to kill China whit a F-ing nuclear missile kill the china pest >:)" whut have u been living under a rock? its the modern day all govs can detect a missile 10 min be4 it hits dumb shit china also have nukes u reallly want some bombs falling on ur yard? wiping u off the face of the earth?
Right...if a fishing boat of your country ram a ship of another country, your country should get nuked for it? Wow, that make perfect sense!
Bottom line is, this is nothing more than a car crash on sea, yet both sides are making too big fucking deal out of it. You seriously think the Japanese care about a single Chinese fishing boat ramming their coast guard ship, or those damn islands? They are just raging because of their government caved in and apologised to China is hurting their little pride. They couldn't take it up with their own government so they gone and harrass the Chinese embassy instead, which causing 'some' Chinese to see it as an attack on their country which in turn leading to the riot.
Let me get this straight...
1. A single Chinese fishing boat rammed the Japanese coast guard ship on its on accord
2. Japan government decided not to play ball and released the captain and apologised
3. Japan public are pissed at the action carried out by their own government, but rather than taking it up with their own government, they go harrass the Chinese Embassy instead
Seriously...does that even sound reasonable to you guys? May be everytime some foreign ship ram your country's coast guard ship, and your country decide to let the so-called criminal go, you should gather up thousands of people to harrass their country's embassy...because of the action of one damn boat?
If the Japanese public want to dispute on the territory ground, put pressure on their own damn govenment and politician to force them to negotiate with China, not taking things into own hands and harrass every Chinese they come across because of this stupid incident.
Don't we have something similar in the past? Britain and Iceland, remember?
This is what you call a sensible argument.
They didn't mob or harass the embassy they did the same protest they've been doing the Chinese thought they did there's a difference you're missing.
I was refering to the first protest they did at the Chinese Embassy right after Japanese government apologised to China in case you are misunderstanding...that was what led to the riot in China.
Sure the Japanese didn't physically assault the Chinese Embassy, but does that mean verbal violence can be tolerated or ignored? Like someone call your mum a bitch and you sister a whore, and you punch him in the face, and that make you the guy in the wrong now is it?
The only difference between the actions of Japan and China was verbal violence vs physical violence. Another thing is that while some people in China assaulted Japanese related things in the riots, Japanese also assaulted Chinese in Japan, such as tourists, but don't expect to see that kind of news reported much here on this site...and even if it did, it would most likely be passed off as "they deserved that, it's their fault they were born as Chinese".
Also, the Japan's protest move from "invasion of Japan territory cannot be forgiven" (yea, one bloody fishing boat) to "China's military power domainance over Asia". They are trying to justify and make themselves the patriots putting on the banner fighting for the sake of the entire Asia, be in reality they are just doing it for their own sake.
Also this over this island incident, did you really think Japanese government bowed before China because of fearing their military power? No, they are just afraid their country's economy would be seriously affected if China stop doing business with them. The Japanese protesters' quote of the subject of "military power" is just an excuse they themselves decide to throw into the context to justify their cause.
Lots of people (well idiots) think China will start a war, but in reality is that they DON'T NEED TO (and it would be stupid to make themselves world's enemy). All they have to do is shut their doors to foreign countries in trades and businesses, and it would already be enough to create chaos for them economy wise.
Eh, no. You're wrong on both accounts. First, it's not like people around here don't condemn the actions of the Japanese rioters. It's just that the Anti-China factions is quite a bit larger and that's not just because there are lots of otakus around here.
Second, if China would "close its doors for trade" as a sanction, they'd die. China is mortally dependent on trade. Even more so than other countries. Let them reach their economic peak and you'll so that they will face the same problems the west is facing for decades. And those problems will hit them even harder because Chinas growth happens in a "fast-forward" mode.
I think you misunderstood what I meant...or may be I wasn't clear on the closing the doors for trade part. I don't mean they seal themselves off completely...what I meant they can pick WHO to trade with, and who NOT TO trade with.
I have read the other articles, and I'm well awared of the riot that happened in China. And no I doing think the riot is the right thing to do, but the riot was actually the result of the Japanese mobbing the Chinese Embassy in Japan, not the boats crash.
Also, I really don't get it...what are they trying to achieve with all these protests which are just throwing oil at fire? They want to cut ties with China now is that it? How is THAT gonna be realistically beneficial to them?
One thing I know is that if the PVC were to be made in countries other than China, the retail prices will most likely go up, and it certainly would not be beneficial to me.
"A car crash at sea" :/
All well and good except that the sea is pretty big, kinda hard to hit something by accident. It's not so much a car crash, as a crazy nationalist ramming a cop car with an artic truck. And considering it was a Chinese fishing vessel clearly and deliberately ramming a Japanese government vessel, yeah, the people of Japan have a pretty good reason to get pissed off about the incident alone, let alone the government's weak cover up.
Calling for nukes, etc IS over the top and plain retarded though.
It's a matter of sovereignty. If Japan apologizes to China, they are indirectly saying that they were wrong to be near those islands in the first place(Because they belong to China). The Senkaku islands lie on a potentially huge gas and oil field.Ownership of territory between countries is a complex matter where the winner is usually the one who can impose their presence the most in those territories. Its got nothing to do with pride and a lot to do with politics and money. What kind of idiot would give away billions in natural resources to China?
You are missing the point, it's not a matter of 'if', they already 'apologised' to China and it's not like they can take that back. And the argument over the islands has been going on for decades...it's not like the conclusion will come out of it anytime soon. Both sides are trying to claim the island on a shouting contest (protests) to see who can shout louder, but it still not gonna resolve the issue and end up with a conclusion.
Tension between the two nations has always been pretty high with an traditional 'anti-the other guys' view. These protests are done peacefully in a country where peaceful protesters don't get shot on the spot. It's not just about islands and boats. it's about how china can be bullies because they have a strong military presence.
The purpose of peaceful process is to spread awareness and provoke thought and you and I are discussing it on the interbutts with each other.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
Just humans being humans (read: stupid).
Marine-RX179: Nice how you've carefully omitted everything China has done re the situation. At least read the earlier articles and comment threads before spewing inane garbage here.
Great idea Weaaboo.
nope they'll continue to cower in fear 'til election season
