The video of a Chinese fishing vessel ramming a Japanese coast guard ship at sea off the disputed Senkaku Islands taken by the coast guard has been leaked, despite the Japanese government’s efforts to suppress it to protect relations with China.

The major crash occurs 1 minute into this video:
The fishing vessel can be seen swerving into the side of the coast guard vessel alongside – the direction of its wake seems to clearly indicate it was the fishing vessel changing course and not the coast guard ship.
The Chinese vessel rammed Japanese ships not once but twice it seems:

Of course, with the videos being leaked there is no guarantee of their authenticity – however it is hard to see how they could have been faked (the Chinese ship can be clearly identified) or edited to give a misleading impression.
[Update: the coast guard has confirmed their authenticity and the government is vowing to hunt down the person responsible for the leak]

Claims that a coast guard member was attacked in the water by the Chinese seem not to be supported by the video – whether this was a tactical fabrication as some have suggested, or was merely left off the released video, is not clear.
Claims that the Chinese captain was drunk are also neither confirmed nor discredited by the evidence shown in the videos.

With the videos out, both China and the Japanese government have some major explaining to do – China might be expected to shrug off the incident as a patriotic act by one of its citizens against Japanese aggressors invading its waters, but the hitherto extraordinarily pro-Chinese Japanese government may now be in danger of falling, and the Japanese public is likely to be firmly Sinosceptic for the foreseeable future.

At first the chinese boat is not moving and the patrol boat is turning around him.
Then suddenly, the fishing boat starts its engines and seems to deliberately ram the japanese boat's stern.

i'm trying to figure out what exactly happened in the second video... the first one, obviously it was the chinese boat that turned as indicated by its wake, but in the second one, the coast guard boat is clearly the one that turns. whether it was expecting to squeeze past the chinese boat or had told the chinese boat to stop or what.

It seems that no one here is interested in the video. By the way i view it, it seems the japanese coast boat is trying to ask the chinese boat to stop and using its boat to block their path. However it seems that the chinese boat doesn't care and just ram into it.
Notice the angle of the video, it always show chinese boat but not with the japanese boat until they crash together, i will say its some simple video editing. But the chinese got to be crazy to ram a patrol boat.

I watched it and saw the chinese ship ramming the coast guard. It's absolutely clear they attacked, it was no accident.
As captain of the coast guard vessel I'd have retaliated and sunk the chinese. Would've been perfectly legal.

in terms of the video, it doesn't seem to have any CGs, all of it "looks" original, of course the Chinese fisherman was probably one of those town folks, who was brought up on the thought "Japan is evil", here's a fair point of view, what was left out of all the descriptions on this matter was that the Senkaku islands did originally belong to China/Taiwan, but was "given" to Japan during the war, the reason they want the place back is due to the fact other places previously "given" away such as Hong Kong, were given back, they have the reason to take it back, and +, it was Taiwan's fault China got involved in this anyways, if it wasn't for Taiwan, this could've been resolved easily (Japan's army out powering the Taiwanese government 2:1), anyways, not from Japan's point of view, Japan basically "won" the land through a war and was said they would keep it afterward (thanks to the US) they're just trying to keep what they got fair and square. They have every right to the land, but are willing to compromise for the sake of being good neighbors with China, Korea, Taiwan, etc. if it wasn't for the Taiwanese government stupidly being greedy slobs, this might've just been something solved within an hour.........

the thing is, it was an incident involving a Chinese civilian boat and a JSDF ship, so the person in question that is responsible for this cannot be directly tied to the Chinese government, so there is no reason to go to war. however, it does strain political ties, where both sides will now be less likely to cooperate in any kind of political matter.

The island belongs to Japan legally. That's a histrical fact. There are many international documents to prove the facts but there is NO document nor evidence on Chinese side to prove otherwise. Bring out the legal document which are not forged by the RED CHINA if you can .The Japanese side can prepare legal one.
