Appleseed Anime Adaptation Announced (Again)

Masamune Shirow‘s classic manga Appleseed is receiving yet another anime adaptation – this time a 13 episode TV series entitiled “Appleseed XIII.”
The anime will be in the same 3D CG style as the two recent movies, but the story is said to be otherwise unconnected to the movies – although Deunan and Briareos are still the lead figures.
Masamune Shirow himself is to be involved, apparently promising something closer to the manga than the previous adaptations.
Production is by Jinni’s Animation Studios (known for various CG animations), with Production IG cooperating, and staff include a number of figures involved in Stand Alone Complex. Development is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2011.

13 Episodes? That's already FAIL. They'd have a hard time to squeeze enough relevant content into 26 episodes. The movies only covered small portions from the latter half of the series. Add to that that Appleseed, the manga, is still unfinished itself.
I'm not convinced of this but i'd like to get surprised in a positive way. It's not easy with so few episodes.

Maybe they'll get more episodes to cover the rest if the ratings are good.
It'll probably only cover the first half, with a second series shortly following, to cover the second half. Just like GitS SAC has TLM 2nd season.
indeed. i watch both the CG movies and the old anime movie ( cut one ). They were mediocre. Maybe the series can be intressting

It seems to me that Shirow is incapable of creating something NEW. It's either this, Ghost In The Shell or his freakish ecchi/hentai books that took up most of his time in the last 10 years. Goddamit Shirow is lame.
Yeah, if he's going back to old stuff, I want some Dominion Tank Police. We haven't gotten a new anime version of that in like 15 years... it's more due.
I'd love to see some more Puma girls. ^_^
Shirow did work on Real Drive though. I wish more shows used those type of plump character designs.
