There are some understandable doubts as to whether the ISO mark is genuine. Reportedly Malaysian authorities later banned imports of the ersatz seaweed, though Beijing shoppers seem to have had no such luck.

Coming from the nation that makes bridges out of rubbish and cooking oil from sewage, it could be worse, if barely.
