More China quality produce emerges – this time nori (laver, or edible seaweed), made from quality black plastic instead of mere seaweed as might be expected…
There are some understandable doubts as to whether the ISO mark is genuine. Reportedly Malaysian authorities later banned imports of the ersatz seaweed, though Beijing shoppers seem to have had no such luck.
Coming from the nation that makes bridges out of rubbish and cooking oil from sewage, it could be worse, if barely.

There was a case a year before the olympics in China where they had mixed melamin-powder (in my language. Its the white color/shell of the white ikea billy bookshelves (just as an example) and other furniture) with milk powder and kthat was poisoning and killing babies...

I know someone who designs electronics for American companies with factories in China.The factory basically modified his designs to save money and apparently managed to make an exploding hand-held GPS in the process.He says the words "WTF" translates pretty well to Chinese despite the language barrier.

Being risky as food stuff, you can never tell where that plastic came from. Looks like production cost cutting in a bad way.

ISO 9001 is a easy as pie to obtain...
Reading the legal document is the hardest part.
All ISO 9001 means is that you rigidly follow a set of procedures in your quality manual. So, if your quality manual say:
1) Buy plastic
2) Repackage
3) Sell "seaweed"
4) ?????
5) PROFIT
then as long as that's exactly what you do, you can get ISO 9001.
