Microsoft: “No Reviews of Kinect!”

So, i take it that piece of garbage has its own version of the RRoD? As always, Micro$oft has enough money to simply "refurbish" broken pieces indefinitely and they don't seem to mind the bad rep of their console at all. What's the secrecy? Must be something mindbogglingly stupid. Maybe they detonate after specific movement patterns?

Whenever a company tries to prevent reviews (like SE with FF14), it's because the thing is crap, so it'll be funny if it turns out to be amazing and MS just didn't want anyone ruining the surprise.

I don't believe that for a second, but then Kinect was accused of not picking up black people properly for a while, so who knows?

Based on what I've read so far, Kinect is only for white people who are rich enough to have entire rooms bereft of furniture to devote to the cause.

If it turns out to be true, the rest of us can just play Street Fighter like nature intended.

If you arent proud of the product you are releasing they why are u releasing it. Tell it on the mountain...Kinect just might not be what they say it is general perception among gamers is a lag fest if it gets to the general public it fails.If you have fixed the LAg then let it be reviewed

still Playstation Move and Wii Motion Control are probably the best motion type device ever.

You know, this is kind of silly, since virtually everyone who has actually USED kinect says it's fun, and that everyone in the room had a stupid grin plastered on their face. The only people who bag it out haven't used it and won't use it because they're too manly men...

Well then let just get straight here there is no way there will be a FPS game but no review people are still piss of with the idea and how it work so let me know how it go when it come out -__-

Well my sis bought it and I have to say it's not that bad.
If there's not enough light facial recognition sometimes fails.
It's not 100% accurate, but at least it's better than PS Move.

I can't wait when shit hits the fan for Microsoft. When this peripheral fails and it will, they'll lose a lot of money, fire people and Microsoft will forever go down in history for making such a fail product.

Kinect is pretty much the EyeToy or Playstation Eye without the move controller, just not really worth it.
I also don't really see companies investing that much into it either. They say it frees you from the controller but honestly only so many games you can play w/o a controller.

Oh dear god. It as all the showings of a crappy product but watch it rake in the best scores.

Kinect looks to be the epitome of casual to me. Too many complex actions and the damn thing probably wont even register 80% of what you're doing. On top of it causing injury if players try to imitate anything on screen...I mean look at what happened with the Wii. Gamers broke fricken TVs because they thought you actually had to swing or chuck the damn thing really hard. Not to mention anything with complex controls wont fly, that sucky FPS included. if they want Kinect to work how people want they probably need it to have special gloves and leg guards to register movement than actual limbs...

MGS4, FFXIV, and now Kinect...yeah, seems as if saying "don't review this" means exactly what it sounds like: "Our product sucks and we know it".

The bastards at Microshit just want to keep the public ignorant of the hazardous amounts of fail that the Kinect radiates. The fish wouldn't bite the worm if they knew it was poisonous after all. Because fish are stupid. Microshit wants to keep us stupid.

There's enough footage on the internet for me to make my own review: -10/10. Suck it, Microsoft.

Okay. How are they going to learn from issues that happened with Kinect if they can't take reviews/criticisms? Besides, why limit freedom of speech anyways?

I'm not going to buy the Kinect because I rather see impressions of it. If this is how they are going to behave, then I rather not buy a product because there's no reviews nor insight. I'm not a blind shopper.

I still don't know why they went through with this. Oh wait, yes I do. It's because of Nintendo. But the difference is that Nintendo came in at the right moment and made a shitload of cash where as the gaming divisions of Sony and Microsoft downplayed their fear but came out with the six-axis controller, which is shit, and natal which looks boring to be honest. My opinion my change if I gave it a try but I doubt it.

There is a german Review and kinect has about 40-60%.

When u think about it, such technology simply isnt possible right now. It takes motion actors for life-like movements for say, a basketball game for example: a special room with a green/blue screen, a special suit with those white balls at certain key points, and recording of said movements, and even then you STILL cant get 100% tracking, but damn does it come VERY close and life-like.

Thinking Microsoft was able to do this prior to the Kinects first demo's some of us got to thinking: "wow, they did it, after all it is microsoft." or "I can't believe it's actually possible"

But after watching so many 'demo' videos and what not, we see that it was all just a big fake, and the technology simply isn't there yet to give us our controller-free gaming that some of us were expecting. This device is going to go the way of the Virtual Boy, but probably not as fast seeing as how it is Microsoft after all, they probably wont abandon it as fast and attempt to prolong the inevitable just a bit longer.

I find it a little hard to believe that the life of the Xbox rests entirely on the Kinect as whoever the author of that quote seems to think. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seemed like the Xbox was doing decently enough here in the US.

i hope kinect die quickly, but i dont think it will..with that half-billion used in kinect launch...well i still need to buy a xbox 360 to play some games.

Sounds similar to the Final Fantasy 14 release in Japan. I didn't follow, but I heart it went swimmingly :P

They're spending 500 mil to market that thing. What if they used that money to make games. They could have made 10 or 20.

Bah, these things are just show-off to try appealing more casual gamers. Hardcore gamers don't give a damn to them, gamepads are the only things we need.

whats the point of doing this these days ? ppl looking for reviews will just end up in blogs or sites like Sankaku that are always waaaay more negative than any official "reviewer" that depends on game companies to pay for his/her food directly or indirectly will ever be
