Aki Toyosaki, the seiyuu best known for portraying Yui Hirasawa in top moe anime K-ON!, has revealed she is an ardent fan of the Grand Theft Auto series.
She is already known as something of a gamer, with a liking for beat-’em-ups, but a recent interview provides the surprising revelation that she is a big fan of GTA as well:
What sort of games do you like to play?
People often tell me I look the type to enjoy Animal Farm, but actually I don’t really like girly games at all…
Quite the contrary, I like rougher games – I love fighting games like “Grand Theft Auto”! I really get into them.
Whilst some eyebrows were raised at her classification of GTA as a “fighting game” (whilst it does involve plenty of assault, she used the term usually reserved for the genre encompassing Street Fighter and similar), nobody is going to begrudge her good taste.
In other remarks she reveals she enjoys western games, as well as, of all things, sumo games – the named the title below specifically:

I am a girl who loves GTA, most of my girlfriends also enjoy playing that sort of games. That's not uncommon at all. I don't know a lot of girls who like to play those so-called "girly" games... They're boring, sexist and retarded.

Most likely she has tried gta once and thought it was funny or something. This is just a form of fanservice of course, most likely she's playing flash games like the rest of the female populace.

I know a lot of girls that play a lot a massive variety of games. I don't think that it's a question at all if girls play awesome games or not. Yeah, there will always be attention sluts that will claim to be into various titles just to appear all the more appealing to someone.
Plus I wouldn't necessarily mark off all "girly" games as horrible. I do have a massive guilty please of Harvest Moon (Super NES, N64, Gamecube versions especially).
I don't think it's impossible to find girls(STRICTLY SPEAKING) playing the same kind of games we play.
Just last night on NicoNico, I finished watching a series of videos showing two sisters playing Resident Evil for GC for the first time, and FINISHING it, with CHRIS. Some lulzy moments with the girls' shrieking in times like Hunter's first apperance were gold(they record their commentaries together with gameplay in real time).
You can find plenty more similar videos on NicoNico, with some playing FPSes like Call of Duty.
