Had this ep. actually a plot ? The 1st ep. seemed like it hadn't.
Slice of Life isn't really suposed to have any plot that is worth mentioning in the first place.
This is slice of life?
So you've had your fair share of Squid-girl encounters at the beach eh?
Aria isn't slice of life now? Kokoro Library isn't? NieA_7? To Heart? Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou?
Slice of Life is the everyday goings on of a world, within the confines of reality as defined by that world.
In the case of Aria - their world was that funky Venetian planet thing, and Gondola'ing was their everyday life -- therefore slice of life.
Same to Minami-ke, except in a realistic setting.
Ika Musume isn't slice of life, because in the world they live, a "normal occurrence" wouldn't include a squid-girl coming from the ocean and trying to invade humanity...
Except that she's the main character. It's her world and her life. Also, everyone instantly accepts her.
The series sure does follow the slice of life standard (a bunch of mini-sketches pieced together to make an episode.) The show doesn't follow an actual plot, as that would be rather boring to watch. The show does flesh out character development and adheres to it, and that is what makes this series appear to be one of the better moe animes I've seen in a long time.
I think we need a new category for "slice of wierd" Where the slice of life settings and plots are mixed with surreal happenings.
Ikamusume and Nichijou immediately qualify.
