Touhou Anime Preview Released

A preview of Ufotable’s upcoming Touhou anime has been released, and Touhou fans cannot help but note that it looks very promising indeed.
The preview itself was screened at Machi Asobi 4, and filmed illicitly by attendees as is the custom.
The preview initially starts as an “Anime Tenchou” trailer, which understandably enough nobody in the audience or anywhere else cares about, but halfway through the video breaks into Touhou, causing something of a stir:

Just what form the anime will take is still not clear (a full announcement is promised on the 20th of November) – but the worst case scenario of a 1 minute advert featuring Tenchou and the Touhou girls as funny hat wearing sidekicks looks slightly less likely.

Well there has been some doujins about the girls being outside of Gensokyo at one point. Although I'm sure if Sanae is involved with the group here she'll be more along the line of being puzzled on how she got back while everyone esle came along with her.
My guess boils down to the Forbidden Template between Magic, and Dammit Yukari.
Great animation quality. Let's hope they keep it that way.

The first 30 seconds are, I think, a spoof of those Lucky Star spoof-type bits- with the store staff desperately trying to get Konata to buy form their shop.

Looking at the PV, seems like a different animation studio from the original doujin anime (MAIKAZE) made it. From the urban setting, it appears that "if animation studios can't bring us to Gensokyou, the youkai will bring Gensokyou to YOU!"
Since Touhou Project had started out as a doujin game and has given rise to doujin works by different artists, it would make sense to have a different animation company to pick up the baton Studio MAIKAZE has dropped.
Also, Anime Tenchou does indeed look promising, I must say....
Never understood the fun of trailers. If I can't watch it right now (meaning in less than 3 minutes) it doesn't matter. If someone reminds me of this once I actually can watch it, I might check it out. Otherwise... well I already forgot what the trailer was about.

if they have time to make a trailer, then they're probably on the way to finishing it....generally of course...you do get anime studios that make the trailers first...
That trailer sure looks promising. Seems they broke through the barrier into the outside world. Considering skyscrapers are not danmaku resistant having Flan fighting in a city should be something akin to armageddon. ^_^

I've been keeping away from this since many years (no particular reason, have my hands full with many things already), I guess I'll have no choice but to embrace the Touhou fandom too if it becomes an anime

You DO realize this is by no means an 'OFFICAL' anime but rather just a doujin/promotional thing Anime Tenchou is using to hype itself, right?
Considering ZUN himself is sponsoring/directing/has something to do with this, and the fact its done by ufotable who are a large studio well known for their mind blowing quality of animation (as well as production costs), i'd say this gets pretty offical
Problem is this though. Zun is not directing or sponsoring this. He hasn't endorsed it and he has nothing to do with this project. As long as it doesn't go commercial, Zun will not do anything to it. It's merely another group doing doujin stuff with it, but it'll probably be the closest one gets to "official" only by the fact that an anime company is involved. Nothing more.
I, personally, have neither positive or negative expectations for it. I'll see it and let it speak for itself, but I'm not going to call it official nor am I going to revile it without watching it.
Zun denied knowledge of it on twitter, it's about as official as any other doujin anime.
He could be hiding a surprise unless proven otherwise.
Wait until after 11/20.
If this is official at all he might actually not be able to say anything before then.
