The word "Moe", should just die. The American word "Mo" or "Moe" was meant to be a short nickname for a person's name starting with the letters MO.

Japanese slang makes no sense to me.
It's a form of moeru, which can mean either "to burn" or "to sprout". How the term came to be used in this context is debatable. Do some web-searching; it's entertaining and educational.
