90% of Japanese Now Agree: “China Cannot Be Trusted”

chinese-marines

China’s efforts to intimidate Japan into submission have seen such trust of China as there is amongst the Japanese collapse, with as many as 90% of Japanese surveyed saying China cannot be trusted.

The latest surveys of public opinion indicate China’s recent efforts to seize the Senkaku Islands have had the unsurprising effect of substantially hardening public opinion against China – 87% of Japanese men in their twenties now agree “China cannot be trusted,” up from 80%.

Women are just as suspicious of Chinese intentions – 91.8% of women in their forties, the highest, also feel China cannot be trusted, and even amongst women in their twenties 84% agree.

The results also indicate Japanese are becoming concerned by their weakness, especially the younger generations – as many as 94.2% of Japanese men in their twenties now agree that “Japan’s image as a being a nation that will succumb to pressure is a concern.”

Amongst Japanese, concern about China’s aggression also appears to be crystallising into concern about the current pro-Chinese stance of their own government.

The latest incident, in which senior government figures made the highly suspect blunder of referring to the presence of Chinese ships in the area with the honorifics usually reserved for dignitaries, convinced many that the Democratic party’s worshipful attitude to China is incorrigible – now over 90% of men in their thirties agree that the government’s foreign policy is “spineless.”

Across all the generations, the incident has caused many to think their “alliance” with the USA must be strengthened; 39.1% think the alliance should be strengthened, whilst 41.9% consider the status quo adequate. Most support is concentrated amongst younger generations of men – 48.9% and 46.4% of men in their thirties and twenties want a stronger alliance.

Younger generations were particularly likely to admit the importance of relations with China – 95.7% of men in their twenties and 92% of women in their thirties agreed China “is important to Japan’s economy,” displaying a surprising amount of awareness of just who their largest trading partner is.

Where the regions are concerned, the most concerned were the inhabitants of Kyushu, closest to China and the Senkaku Islands. 51.3% agreed that “troops should be stationed on the Senkaku Islands,” higher than anywhere else. 76.1% agreed that “China is a nation which threatens the safety of Japan” and 81.4% that “the issue will continue to poison relations between China and Japan.”

With public opinion now firmly against China, it seems the only thing sustaining Japan’s supine position with regards to China is the Democratic Party of Japan’s substantial Sinophile wing and the short-sighted desperation of the extremely powerful Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) to protect their Chinese investments – one of the few Japanese organisations left which unreservedly supports the appeasement of China.

• China is nothing but a self destructing parasite. It feeds of his own people and sucks them off until they die. Think about how they will treat you after seeing how they treat their own people. And Americans should shut up. Your as spineless as the Japanese. You only start war against countries with nothing more then some wooden sticks and kill 10 times more children and women as terrorists or enemy soldiers. China should fight America. If we are lucky both die a painfull death and the rest of the world lives a peacefull life.

• I can think of a solution to Japan’s lack of balls: Japan should be allowed to have an army again! After WWII, Japan is forbidden to have a standing army or wage war with other nations according to Article 9 of its constitution. It has the Jieitai, which is one of the world’s most technologically advanced armed forces, but it’s more for non-combat missions.

If Japan is allowed to fight back, then it can put its foot down.

• If you want to comment on the issue, look up the history of the island first.
The island ORIGINALLY belonged to China, Japan, like the rest of the exploitive nations of that age. Started the first sino-japanese war and won the island. Then after world war II they were supposed to return the island, but pussied out and America being their victor backed them up.
Now Japan has arrested the fisherman for NO reason as it is disputed sea and arresting another countries citizen there is as good as kidnapping.
I dont know what garbage your media has fed you but if you think about it logically, this entire incident was started by Japan in an effort to seize territory that was never hers to begin with.

You are treating people and country as one and the same. People who generalize like you can be perceived as racist because you generalize about the will of the Japanese people and government. Also, you base your accusations on past generations of Japanese. It’s like basing all of Americans on the overweight ones or on the civil war or on the racism that this country has suffered. You are an idiot because you generalize. However, the Japanese government is generalizing about the Chinese government and vice versa. All governments do that! Attacking the people in general is idiotic and racist. I am not one to throw around the word racist often so I’m very serious.

China and North Korea vs Japan, South Korea, United States, EU, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Australia, India, Israel and many others that aren’t on the top of my head right now.

You really wanna put your money on China?

Japan and the United States are sisters. The United States leads NATO, and has numerous other powerful alliances as well. If China were to attack Japan, the chain of alliances would bring nearly the entire military force of the world down on Chinas head. It’s just not going to happen. They can’t be that stupid.

• Largest does not equal best. Massive numbers of poorly equipped ground forces don’t do much in today’s world. But you are right in that it isn’t likely that ANY known nuclear powers will engage any of their peers in a full-scale war, at least until some sort of real missile countermeasure is deployed (something that, at least in terms of anti-ICBM usage, is likely at least another 15 years away, if not far more).

• I think that most of the world believe that china (as a country) can’t be trusted. I don’t mean to offend Chinese people who thrive to live a petty life, but china is a superpower with a kind of dictatorship. Human right don’t really apply there, and if they were to decide to go on war well things would go pretty bad.

• What staggers me is that very little people has made the connection between this incident and US’ recent relocation of political focus. I may sound like a conspiracist here, but which party would this Japanese shift in trust helps? The Americans who just annonced that they would like to see their influence be felt in Asia or the Chinese occupied with their moon-probing project?

You would think that the most populated country in the world is not governed by a bunch of idiots, who’ll deliberately send in their navy and air force against a more formidable opponent(China’s army is still mainly a land-based defensive force).

Both parties are at fault here(Japan tries to assume its sovereignty on the islands and all the surrounding water by provoking an accident against a civilian craft and China utilizes its political influence to put pressure on the Japanese government, at a price of coruse), a logic, neutral point of view is necessary to analyze the situation, something that most Japanophiles here on Sankaku lack.

Correction, China has lent a significant amount of money to the United States. The United States obviously cannot simply dismiss this debt as they would lose all financial credibility, it would be economically suicidal not to honor their debts.

If China were to declare war on Japan, the United States would be automatically entered into the war in defense of Japan due to their defense pact. All of that debt to China would instantly vanish, yet the United States would keep everything they bought with it.

So the opposite of what you seem to think is true. A war with China would be EXTREMELY lucrative for the U.S. but they cannot provoke it. China has to provoke it. War or peace, the U.S. wins either scenario though, so good chess playing on their part I guess…

• BTW just a bit of heads up for those who isn’t familiar with Japanese and Chinese online communities. Most Chinese online user(Remember, this does not reflect the mass public) think that Chinese Government diplomatic measures are “not aggressive enough”, similar to Japan’s response of “Spineless”.

• The majority doesn’t want war, or those who wants war clearly hasn’t had the experience of being pointed by a gun, or in a life-threatening situation.

Peace is the better way out, though it’s the most difficult path to seek. Hate will only bring more hate, so is killing and destruction.

• The nasty thing is, that this whole mess means that after the next elections, the LDP and SK are back in power again. And those parties are kind of on record as freedom haters.
It’s extremely unfortunate that the party that promised the Japanese public more rights, freedom, change and transparency (something which Japan sorely needs) is basically committing suicide.

• all does assholes that think that japan can win the war against china if that really happens than well you are all fucking wrong because one china has 300 million man in ready to fuck you up and second you all have anime, cosplay and sick fuck as soldiers

• Lol. Your bad engrish makes me feel shameful to be Cantonese. Not because I’m mainland Chinese but your bad English and your aggressive perpetuation of racial hatred.

—–

And as for the article. I cannot believe how ignorant this whole situation has become. While I share a disapproval of the Chinese government, I still feel that the islands belong to China as per territorial history. Then again, it’s always within America’s interest to cause problems between Asian neighbours in order to get an economical head start. Utterly pathetic. America is to blame on this whole issue.

• seriously, this is bullshit. since when has china “intimidated” japanese into submission!? please dont report nonsense. the issue with the island in question doesnt mean that china is forcing japanese into submission. think of the cruelties in WWII that japanese committed.

• YOU MORON! YOU STILL HUNG UP ON WW2 DEATH COMES IN NATURAL WHEN WAR HAPPENS A LOT OF PEOPLE DIE IN WARS. WHAT YOU THINK THEY WOULD DO SING HAKUNA MA TATA OR KUMBAYA SONGS WITH THEIR ENEMIES? THATS WHY JAPAN IS A BIT OF HYSTERICAL SIDE BECAUSE THEY REALIZE WHAT THEY DID IN WW2 WAS WRONG. THINK ABOUT IT LONG AND HARD NO PERV STUFF USE YOUR FRIGIN BRAIN IF YOU EVEN HAVE ONE
and you said (“seriously, this is bullshit think of the cruelties in WWII that japanese committed.”)

• That’s not it! THEY DON’T WANT the BASE in OKINAWA, not that “Americans being around”. Seriously, Japan has no military of it’s own because of America’s promise to protect them. How will it stand to an attack from China? Hence the so-called “hypocrisy of Japan”.

*Sigh* China will be crushed… HARD!

• A lot of people here are clueless.

Dell, HP, Cars, Apple Ipad, LCD TV, Sony PS3, Cameras, and many big name products are made in China!

Wow, if there is a war, all the prices for most major brand will jump. Not many people will be buying things. America will be in recession again.

This time, China isn’t going to buy USA’s bond.

USA will be devastated. The whole world will be devastated.

Many lives will also be sacrifices.

• The auhtor just show the percent of Japanese who agree the title’s idea to us only, but he/she does not provide the exact numuber of respondant, maybe the number is hundred or ten. Therefore, the result of the survey could not present the opinion of entire Japanese,so the author’s conclusion can not be demostrated by the survey. And the viewpoint of this writing can not be convinced.
This writing can not show us the real fact of this issue,it just wants to convice us the almost entire Japanese don’t trust China, actually,it wants to mislead readers

• What generalisation lol, this statement always comes up the moment someone or some country is deemed the bad guy. When the Japanese bombed the US, 100% japs cant be trusted. When the US bombed iraq and couldn’t find nukes, 100% americans can’t be trusted. When China shows aggression to Japan over the rights to senkaku, 100% Chinese can’t be trusted. All in all, 100% humans can’t be trusted, and humans are a species of animal that lies?

• If China does start a war and it stays conventional they’ll get their asses handed to them as the US,India, and the UK would all send their navies to help.
Zerg rush tactics do not work over oceans heck they don’t even work over land any more because of this little thing called air superiority.
I don’t fear their conventional forces as both gulf wars showed what happens to large quantity low quality forces when they face the US military.
They get exterminated in just days.
The one thing that China has that I do fear is their ICBMs.
The US has ten times more nukes but China still has enough to take out a few major cites and shut down the world economy.
But I don’t think they’d want a nuclear war even if their invasion force got sent to the bottom of the Pacific.

• Stealth fighters? You actually believe the PR stunts about stealth fighters?

You disappoint me so, so much.

It is true China spends much more than their official budget, but trust me, not even Russia has stealth fighters. Russia has fighters with RCS-reductive features, but not stealth.

• Low quality soldiers? Have you ever been in the army to know how training is like? I’m not siding China, but their military spendings are way high, and their soldier trainings are harsh. Perhaps you can go take a few photos and show us that China’s soldiers are of low quality…at the cost of being an additional hostage? )

• Do you realize just how much MORE the US spends militarily every year than China does? Not to mention that the US military has far fewer members (drawing from a smaller population base), so a much larger amount would be spent on each even if spending were entirely equal. So yes, in comparison to the equipment used by the US military, China’s is in general of a notably lower quality.

• lol united states/allied forces clearly had better weapons and whatever in Korean War and Vietnam War. They never actually “won.”

The number of troops in Gulf War is nothing compare to Kor/Viet war.

What did carpet bombing achieve in Vietnam? is that what you call air superiority?

• Wow Japan is surely fucked up. They saying shit about China like this when back then they invaded China and killed a lot of the Chinese. America better help China nuke the Jap asses(yeah I know US did say they’d stop using the nukes).

• Isn’t that like saying scissors sharp, fire hot? Are they just finding it out now that china is very very hard to trust? Now it’s not the most untrustworthy country out there but.. considering they’re record it’s not good..

• I’m an overseas Chinese who speaks Japanese (and almost no mandarin), and I am staunchly pro Japan. I teach some fobby kids from China English. Guess what, they love Japan, Gundams, Ayumi and Pokemon. I hope the Japanese learn to accept the new generation of us for who we really are and not based on the deplorable policies of a quasi-communist government. When I visit Japan, they always treat me as nihonjin. Yeah, they can’t really tell the difference either.

• I agree, although China and Japan have completely different cultures, can’t they all just get along? They’re all Asians! Share ideas and work together. I know that’s a naive thought, but it’s better than conflict and resentment.

• Although I do agree with you, that’s almost like asking why don’t Republicans and Democrats here in America get along even though they are all Americans. Trying to talk to children about acting mature gets you nowhere.

• I pretty sure that most of asia don’t trust China, but you know what? Neither do they trust and like Japan haha. Should there be a war between the two, people only shed a tear or 2 for the people of these two country…after they get their money out of japan lol.

• We should’ve just kept all the disputed islands after the war. Maybe use them as target practice for our carriers. We’re is gonna get dragged in to something stupid if Japan, China, and the Koreas keep escalating their island disputes.

• China used be the country with pride, rich culture, and many historic figures.

The modern China is nothing but a country run by corrupted government and moral-less businessmen with quick/dirty profits in mind and more than half of its citizens have no idea what’s happening in this world or even their country.

• all of the richest and most successful businessman is moral-less, plays dirty, slice people’s throat, stingy, greedy pigs and unmerciful. you wont survive for long and be successful if u play fair in business.

• Agreed here.

Chinese history and culture is rich and interesting (I was into Chinese stuff before I really discovered Japanese culture). However, their current government has some large problems. I really don’t want to distrust and hate China, but the actions of their government makes it seem like they want to start a war to prove their superpower status and expand their territory, which is something I’m sure only idiotic nationalists would really support.

• IF 90% of Japanese hates Chinese, then most likely 90% of China’s couple billion population wouldn’t trust Japanese either.

Japan currently only has the US as a standing point that limits the amount of pressure the Chinese can put on Japan, but being the sneaky players they are, the US can just be using Japan to force China to do something regretful (to the world) and if that happens, WWIII won’t be too far off the calander.

Does Japan have the power that can repel China without international intervention? Unlikely.

• Japan is becoming like Hong Kong and Taiwan (yes we are separate with our own language etc). Absolutely hating the country but can’t do anything about it. As a person from Hong Kong we hate mainlander, they’re bully who teach their kids to shit on the floor of our shopping centers go back home and shit on your own turf, bloody bastards.

• I like how suddenly, American alliance is important to them, and is somehow relevant to the faults of their own government. I see that their fear of aliens has risen as well. Maybe those who said “No” and “Don’t Care” didn’t take the survey because the way I see it, the ones who like to express their concerns would vote and the ones who don’t care wont vote.

I will not agree that their entire nation has just voted such a silly option. What would they have done, declare war, and then suck up to the Americans for support. They can’t do that anymore, and you know it. Because both Japan and the Us have strong ties to China at the moment. What they can do is to reelect the old government party and replace the current one.

In other news, 90% of mainland Chinese still don’t trust the Japanese. Of course, those 90% consist of a small amount of people who happen to just have foreigner fears.

• Japanese are worried about China’s bootlegging product’s, a guy who rammed a boat and became a national hero, 4 Japanese nationalist in china held in that country.

I met some Chinese before they maybe defiant but they have a good reason to be.

• i really don’t recommend japan to go into war with china…
as you know china have more military power than japan as one of the security council of UN…
n from geographical view japan is at loss…
if china go into war… they’ll make sure nuke will also goin’ to move… n imagine what happened when the main island of japan hit by nuke….

i really don’t want to see my beloved japan to be in the state of 50 years ago… really… peace is the only best way…

• Man, with all this going on, it makes me think a bit about what people are thinking just like right now. I’ve been away for too long about figuring out the state of affairs of each country. But I’ve always knew there has been some animosity brewing between Japan and China. As easy is to say that all of us regardless of race should get along, there’s always something that got us hating on each other again. Of course this won’t get us anywhere but more hate which is why it feels more better to somehow cooperate. But attempts like that keep falling somehow.

I just better keep watching for now.

• Wow the article makes it sound as if Japan ever trusted China to begin with lulz. Certainly can understand if it was the other way round taking into account Japan surprise invasions and brutality of war crimes across Asia. Yet the Germans are trusted more after their rampage now. Then again the Germans were more apologetic than the Japanese, don’t have Hitler enshrined and the war criminals are still being hunted down by organizations…and the Jews. Also add the whole history whitewash thing with Japan isn’t any better (not like China’s a saint either with it’s censorship and brainwashing too). So I find it ironic that the Japanese talk about not trusting China when Japan abandoned that trust 1st lol.

However you look at it though the native Japanese have always been xenophobic. So trust among other countries and it’s people is low as it is. So yeah you know where this is going…when it comes to China. Not like half of native Chinese trust their own government…but who in the majority really does trust their government nowadays? Never mind countries trusting each other. Really…what the hell is going to happen in the next 50 years in terms of alliances and relations between all countries. That is if we’re still around and not get royally screwed by nukes or fallout. Probably not going to happen. Just saying…

• You know what japan could do to put china in its place?
Ban ALL kanji in japan!

That would make me sooooo happy because it would mean that i could stop learning those damn chicken scratches!

• “that even the Chinese can learn.” ? Wat? That’s like saying ‘He’s english and the english alphabet is his language so even he can learn to spell’ It’s their writting so of COURSE they should be able to learn it. Should have known it from birth. What was your point? You should be smart enough to know your own language for christ’s sake. Grammar aside…

• When you’re a nation like Japan caught between China and the U.S, you have two choices (incoming false dichotomy, but you know what I’m getting at here) – you’re either the proxy state getting leaned on by one power to influence the other, or you take control, and like the kid with divorced parents who plays one off the other, use your strategic position to extract enticements and concessions from both sides.

Ignore the russian-like sabre rattling for what it is, and focus on the real money to be made rather than the military sideshow.

• This seems to be a word of caution for the Japanese low-breeding population. I advise every jap ppl reading this to breed like hell and give china a hard time in the upcoming war.

P.S. I’m a CN(china) hater. 4 ever. And I am not from Asia… I just find them a retarded race of inbred idiots.

• Oh man…

I hate China slightly more than I do Japan, but both countries have terrible issues with ultranationalism.

I hope Japan can contain them ultranationalists from committing international incidents and making decisions that would reflect the government. China’s modern ultranationalists have been known to overstep their boundaries to other regions. I hope the Japanese can keep it to themselves and not follow their fucked-up WWII motherfuckers.

• Big deal, the Japanese haven’t liked China in a long time. But regardless of how they feel about it, they can’t do shit about it: they need China now and have become dependent on the Chinese economy.

It’s simply not likely that a country that has 8,500 IdolMaster otaku sign a petition to bring back female side characters is going to not be “spineless” enough to actually do anything with their dislike for China.

• Kinny Riddle says:

You know, if the wording was slightly altered in defining “China” as the “PRC Communist government”, then I can bet that even 90% of the Chinese themselves (inside China and overseas Chinese) would have answered “No, they cannot be trusted”.

In which case, I can hardly disagree with the mainstream Japanese sentiment right now (the 2ch rightwing fanatics not counting).

• I wonder if it’s okay to say “FUCK THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT” here. I mean, if I was in China, if I said “FUCK THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT”, I would get into trouble. I’d probably be put to death or something because of their insane Chinese government. Who can fuck off.

• you obviously has no clue about China and Chinese government. If you can understand Chinese, go one Chinese BBS or forums, there are lots of messages or posts that challenge the government. So, shut the fuck up and go study abit about China and Chinese government.

• There’s absolutely no need to study China and it’s government. If there are chinese people who hate the government do something about it and kill the pseudo communist dictators.

Until you do you shut up and live with the rest of the world talking about what a bunch of retarded megalomaniac assholes make up your government.

• I wouldn’t call them “mass-murders”. Yes they made a terrible mistake, and they are still censuring the incident in the medias. But the country just wasn’t ready for such a change yet. If it succeeded, the world would have 2 Indias now, which I’m sure isn’t really a good thing.

The winners that you mentionned let a bunch of real genociders lose in the Tokyo Trials because their knowledge in viral warfare would greatly aid in their own projects. Turns out that they aren’t as unforgiving as you thought…

If you want to kick it to the bug, kill all politicians in the world, because none of them are good.Who do you think will most likely provoke WW III? The world police USA or the Chinese dudes too busy making money?

• And after they “nipped it in the Bud”, what do you think the winners did? They turned on each other, started the cold war; America with the Vietnam war and the still ongoing embargo on Cuba, Russia with the Afghan war. You are still not seeing it, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER COUNTRY LIKE CHINA. It’s human nature; just because China are the bad guys now doesn’t mean they have always been. They are a monster created by the west and probably Japan in WW2. What destabilised the Chinese empire, who only wanted to be left alone by the world? The west. After being de-stabilised and numerous factions grew in a fractured China; who funded the communist party of china? Russia. The entire civil war between nationalists and communists was a byproduct of the cold war. You blame the monster but you don’t blame the creators. And now China is turning against one of it’s creators you’re going “Boohoo, poor Japan.”
I know it’s been a long time since WW2, but some people still won’t forgive them for what they did; My mother is a Filipino and she still doesn’t trust the Japanese even all this time. And A friend of mine had a great granfather buried alive in a beach by the Japanese.

So in short: Killing solves nothing, It just means another asshole can fill the gap that was left by the previous asshole.

• The chinese government is a bunch of mass murderers, see 1989. If someone deserves to be killed – they are it.

I do remember WW II. Now what did the USA and the other winners do? They killed the responsible in Germany. Nuremberg Trials, anyone?

It’s the same here. Kick it in the bud – before WW III. If killing certain key elements – like the chinese government – can prevent a war there can be absolutely no logical argument against that.

• “Just kill the guys who deserve killing – the chinese government is a prime example.”

And who are you to judge who deserves to die?
Is it because China are causing trouble? Well i hope i don’t burst your bubble and tell you there will ALWAYS be a country doing shit you or other people don’t like.
Remember WW2 when Japan was being just as arrogant and ambitious with expanding it’s borders? Remember America and the USSR after WW2? Became the big dogs of the world and caused major shitstorms because they had differing ideals. Remember before the World wars? When European countries were colonizing everything? Becaues they thought themselves superior?

There will ALWAYS be countries who start gaining power and then become arrogant invoking the ire of the World community. But thats life. Get over it.

• It makes sense to me. Erase what is causing a problem and then there is no problem. Pure logic. No feelings or regard for human life at all. It is a perfect, no human thought infected, course of action.

• They did protest, that was it. A really dumb idea in a country with a totalitarianism regime like China – with predictable results.
I was talking about killing the government. Get a bomb and blast them to kingdom come. It can be done. Even in ultra secured nazi germany Stauffenberg would’ve succeeded had not dumb luck helped Hitler.

If you wait for the world to help you can wait for a long time. Either nothing at all happens or a big war that would kill a lot of people.

Killing everything is a bad “solution”. Just kill the guys who deserve killing – the chinese government is a prime example.

• “If there are chinese people who hate the government do something about it and kill the pseudo communist dictators.”

They did back in 1989. Didn’t work out so well because rest of the world wussed out when the people needed help.

If your solution to all of the worlds problems is to kill everything, then you are living in a video game.

• I don’t know about the credibility of those statistics. Were those done by news agencies or by a third party outside of Japan? There’s no doubt that some Japanese do not like China, but those are incredibly high numbers to be believable statistics.

• We Chinese never trusted Japanese in beginning with. So i don’t really care if Japanese aren’t trust us. One day, Japanese will once again bow to China just like few hundreds years ago.

• I know you guys love japanese cultures. But you can’t be fool just because some one said something bad to japan.

pig, you give pig foods, they would die for you
you, japan give you their cultures, would you guys die for japan? some day , if something happen with your country, which side will you support?

• China would have to be insane to attack Japan anytime soon, the Japanese are just being paranoid. The US would not sit by and let that happen, and at least for now, the US is not a nation even China would want to get in a war with. That might change in the next few decades unless US politicians get their heads out of their fucking asses, but for now it is the case. This is assuming no nukes are used, of course…

• Neither the USA nor China would want to go to war with one another. Why would they? They’re the absolute best business partners and make so much money off of one another. Both the US and China have a ridiculous amounts of nukes that they are able to deliver, but honestly nukes aren’t an effective weapon and are more of a deterrent.

And why would China want to attack Japan anyways? The wishes of the common masses of China/Japan =! their stances with on another, especially when the two countries are almost on par with US/China when it comes to business partnerships and profits.

• Wrong. If there would be a war with the USA and China, the US would start it. It’s all about money and credit. One of the reasons Chinese manufactured goods are so cheap is because they buy US dollar bonds (or something like that) which in turn means they control their currency, the yuan; which they make sure is weak against the dollar so American companies can but their stuff cheap. Right now there is some sort of trouble between China and the US because of the recession and it’s affecting the US’s manufacturing sector. Because most people are buying from China now and they will always be cheap because of their currency NOW America is getting pissed off about it, even it has been fine up to the recession, no complaints; but now it’s affecting their own businesses, they’re getting a bit ticked off. There is also alot of other things that could wage a war and it definately isn’t about expanding borders. Over 100 years ago it was Britain and Germany with this same sort of problem. How little we have learnt….

• once again, in 1950-1953, China challenge the whole world during Korean War. And we have been beat hell out of United Sates and their allies. So, we wouldn’t feared if we would challenge the whole word for our own land. So, come on up United States, if you are willing be nuked by us and get ready for death of thousands of your own man.

• The reason why Japan’s government is bending over is likely because many of Japan’s politicians have realized that China is poised to become the world’s superpower within the next decade or sooner. People like to talk about “China quality” but don’t realize that its likely that a large majority of their household products are all manufactured in China. Yes, that includes your Iphones, Samsung and Sony products.

•
Younger generations were particularly likely to admit the importance of relations with China – displaying a surprising amount of awareness of just who their largest trading partner is.
It’s time for Japan to get new partners, maybe India. China delivers shit quality anyway.
That pathetic cowtowing has to stop.

• Yeah, China has a lot ressources. Invading Tibet gained them more, Senkaku will pack new ones on top of that. All the more reason to stop them swallowing up everything.

Take rare earth elements, needed for electronics. China delivers 97% of them. Now what did they do? They cut down shipments, massively. China is already starting to put the screws on the world. This has to stop.

• @Schrobby

It’s not just manufacturing though (which many countries around the world use China for), it’s resources. I imagine there’s much we can’t get from other countries (at least certainly not cost-effectively) that we get in China. Moving everything would also be extremely complicated.

• I hope this will not affect the next Comiket or anything related to anime…

The last thing we need is for the Japanese government to pull anime/hentai artists into a draft…

I shudder at the thought of war…Even though I am a Guro Fiend, hentai is my top priority and the safety of the people making it…

Whatever it may be…Hatred, resources…

I hope the war doesn’t happen between Japan and China…And they come to an agreement of sorts…

I love my hentai and anime lifestyle…

• note china will not win that war but the after math for every country in ti will be bad >.> u have 2 admit they have a huge population remeber there communist and i think will forces civies in2 army in war o e even though there weak 1million of them can still be trouble o-o they also have nukes and im pretty sure there dieing 2 use them

• Are you a moron? if a war happens in Japan, the whole country will be affected since they are too close with China, the Anime/Video Games/Manga Industry will be affected as well and maybe they’ll stop producing that for awhile and canceling projects too, if somebody has to take out China, would be USA OR Russia and they won’t be affected like Japan

• War won’t do any good. The last paragraph says everything. The issue is economic. Stop buying Chinese products and they are history.

Problem here is that the world Governments are absurdly hypocritical. They’ll lick the Chinese Government balls as long as the big money generating business can go there and use children and semi-slaves to produce low costing stuff to sell elsewhere.

The good news is that China will be crushed under it’s own weight, specially if you consider environment. The bad news is that it’s gonna take a while and it’ll poison the world even more in the process. Unless obviously we, who are very displeased with the Chinese Government behavior, stop buying made in China stuff and bring them down first. It’s up to us.

• You do realize.. that if China goes to war, North Korea will sure as hell go to war. That’s a clusterfuck right there considering those two are allies. Compared to China, if china is begging for war then North Korea would be demanding it.

• I say Japan should tell the Chinese government to f*ck themselves with the demands and give back their islands and those 4 people that the latter wants to execute…

@Abel Liegod

I don’t care if China want to go to war..!

If this affects the next Comiket, or production of new anime/anime seasons…

I…Don’t even want to think about it…

• how strange people here are, they talk about war talk about some one asked for an apologies, but they never talk about the historical incident that causing this issue.

they are more likely to start a war, using violence to solve every problems they encountered, this make they such a uncivilized race and a loser in wwii.

• I think the most strange thing is that somehow people are managing to hold both the possition that:
China will start the 3rd World War!
and
We should nuke China to the stoneages to teach them a lesson!

I mean, do no one see the irony in those two statements?

• Yes,there may have a war.
not soon after we China can’t keep a fast developing with peace. The citizens now are disappointed the government’s weakness in regain the land been taken over by others. Then there will a war to tell other of the world we are back and we will return to our stage that we stayed for thousands of years.
China it not satisfied about what it is now.
I don’t like war,but if it can not avoid,I’l not escape.
what’s more. The only thing China had learnt from 1860 and the hundreds of years after it is that If you fail behind other country, you’l no doubt be beat.Just like you got in and occupy our land, burnt our city and kill our people. Those things will never forget.

• Kitsune9Tails says:

Yeah, war is the answer! Let’s go kill some Chinese women and kids in their homes. That’ll teach ’em. (/end sarcasm, hopefully with the same amount as in the original post).

Never mind that the only country that has anywhere near the military power to stand up to China is currently hip-deep in two theaters already, neither of which near China.

Plus, I’m guessing that war is exactly what the Chinese government wants. They get to use their toys, cull out their population (with the most politically inconvenient going first), support their government contractors, and get the territorial expansion they so desire by force.

• You realize that Afghanistan’s eastern border is shared with China, right?

Either way, there’s too many retard posts here. Wars are never about who wins. It’s about whether or not the loser will settle with their defeat. And with the Chinese mentality right now of “we can’t lose anything anymore,” no country can decisively win against China.

• Lol, and with all of the world’s largest and most powerful corporations having deep ties with China (many of which include top Japanese companies such as Sony, by the way), who do you think would win? Not that a war would happen anyways – this is the information age, the wars that are occurring nowadays are all superpower nations bullying or invading countries with no economic resourcefulness or profit. The last time a real superpower fought against another superpower was over 70 years ago, when international trade and businesses were a lot less prevalent compared to today.

• agreed there nuke bases arnt in bejing >.> and if they see there gonna lose im 99% sure they gonna fire nukes at random targets and mostly at USA so u hillbillys want a nuke falling on ur farm? hey ma pa thers a magic star falling

• Kinda sad seeing the ignorant hillbilly go “We should nuke China!”, “gotta teach those Chinese a lesson! Lets nuke em!”, “China will start the 3rd world war!”, etc. Really shows how little some people know about the world.

A war with China won’t happen, for same reason USA and Soviet didn’t go face to face during the cold war – nukes. You don’t start throwing punches at someone who has the power to drop a nuke on any of your cities at any given moment.

China has that power, you nuke Bejing, they nuke New York. Still sounds like a good idea to nuke them?

• first make everyone dependent of you, then blackmail them if they don’t buckle. typical.

china’s showing their real face now, maybe someone starts opening their eyes?

not that the alternatives would be so much better. if you outsource to india instead, you’ll be in the same position sooner or later, i’m sure.

• Looks like he knows more than about 90% of the population of USA, I’d say that that gives him more than enough right to have a opinion on the matter… Especially seeing how he’s right on spot, if USA hadn’t made such a big mess of their Iraq invasion USA would already be in Iran.

• Tell me what the hell can you do if there is gonna be a war today? A flip of a switch and half the world is blown to hell. So how profitable is that? Money spent on weapons and not onto the benefit of your own country is a stupid mistake that anyone that has decent knowledge in history will avoid(I guess this is probably the other thing that they don’t teach in schools in America too, huh? Please, nowadays everyone have internet and getting information is as easy as clicking a mouse). What I am saying is if they are promoting peace and then they were to have war with any country, they will be viewed as hypocrites therefore other countries will lose trust in them(especially Iraq and Israel). Maybe war will happen. But at least I know if it does happen it is because of people with the mentality that war can move and solve things. Thanks a lot.

• >>They should have learned by now that war results in nothing but both side loosing and many people dying. <<

They sure learned war is profitable. US are doing it in iran right about now. The media calls it "promoting peace" and the likes and american schools won't teach their students geography of the world, so they won't notice where in the world they are making a mess.

Also, all chinese have two faces.

• Chinese americans I could say are excluded from such a stance (or in better words, couldn’t care less). Or any other foreign born Chinese. It doesn’t equate to what support could be had from immigrated Chinese.

But that doesn’t matter anyhow.

• I don’t know but I think having a war may be impossible. They should have learned by now that war results in nothing but both side loosing and many people dying. And I bet the war is gonna last only a second with everyone firing their A-bombs. Japan doesn’t have an offensive army(they have a tiny army for the purpose of defense only), America is promoting peace between Iraq and Israel and I bet Europe want nothing to do with war. So I really doubt that there will be a war cause the the big guns are out.

It’s a pity that Japan can’t do anything against China but I would seriously like to see China regret their actions again Japan. They are too bloody arrogant. If this continues, their next victim in harassment will most definitely be America. Seriously, I’m not joking.

•
the Democratic party’s worshipful attitude to China is incorrigible – now over 90% of men in their thirties agree that the government’s foreign policy is “spineless.”
Deport them to China if they love it that much.

• @lovelaruku
no, US wont, US army might hold but as a nation it will crumble under the financial difficulties. (China got the US by their (golden) balls)

next, IF a war EVER does start, it will very much be one sided for the Japanese, who poses no threat to China, and is about as useful as a squadron of an US army. And when the nukes starts flying. guess who eats shit. (the whole earth!!!!!!)

• the chinese r weird okay? they should never be trust NEVER.1) they copy the kamikaze of japan2) they have big azz population = big ass army 3)they got nukes 4) there war hungry they fight till there all gone 5) going 2 war is dumb the economy is in the dumps go 2 war were all fked
6)if the usa gos 2 war with china russia will step in with whut ever excuse they got and try 2 fk up USA cause they have a long history 7) north Korea is nuthing with out chinese backing so china will be all like hey korea if i fall u fall >.> help us out

• China is a conventional military that will use conventional tactics. The US is having trouble in Afghanistan because the fighting there should be a police action, not an invasion and occupation of the country. The Chinese wouldn’t do too well against the best conventional military in the world, probably with the support of Nato.

• Haha, only Japan is suffering here. I mean Japan’s economy right now is doing so terrible, and they need China’s tourism bad. This argument has only helped both China and Hong Kong in canceling all their vacations in Japan and moving on to some other country. Statistics show that on average Chinese people spend 7,100 US dollars per trip, Japan can just have fun and continue sulking in their economy.

• no those islands arent worth crap. Its the OCEAN AREA that owning those islands give. China actually loses a ton of their national waters to Japan (since their so dam close). This island will seal the deal on who controls the ocean near eastern China.

• @Schrobby

Normally, if a small fisher boat collides with a big military vessel, who would you think started the aggression?

Did the fishermen on the fishing boat want to intimidate the soldiers with their nets and fish? Or maybe did the military vessel want to intimidate the fishermen with their guns?

Add in the fact that the military vessel filmed everything standardly and the government is withholding the tapes while everything is going apeshit around them makes everything very suspicious to me.

Bottom line: there is too little information to form a solid opinion on anything. While Japan is generally more trustworthy than China, how they are handling everything does rouse some suspicion.

More trustworthy except in conflicts between Japan – China or Japan – Korea, because then each party would gladly lie their asses off to make the other look bad.

• @Schrobby: It’s actually not about the oil, but the strategic significance (for all 3 parties involved). While I’m pretty sure none of the parties actually WANT a war (it’s gonna cost too much because they’re all too powerful), if one does break out, having control of the islands will confer a significant strategic and logistical advantage.

• The guy organizing the protests in Japan would stop the tail wagging really fast, which would be good.

Japan evades nothing as it obviously suppresses media coverage. China evades nothing as well, they just want the oil near the islands.

Who cares about government controlled german media? The chinese fisherboat rammed a japanese military vessel in japanese waters. Whatever the reason, this qualifies as an act of war. That some China loving fags in the japanese government withhold the tapes only makes it worse.

• @Schrobby

growing a spine = begging America for help, wagging their tail in submissive posture?

Oh, and on another note, this whole issue is a farce. Both China and Japan are using it to most likely evade the real problems in each respective country.

German media has been quite neutral in this regard, saying that the chinese fisherboat rammed the japanese military vessel, but it might’ve been doing it while on the run. And adding that no conclusion can be drawn since the japanese government is withholding the tapes of the whole incidence.

•
The results also indicate Japanese are becoming concerned by their weakness, especially the younger generations – as many as 94.2% of Japanese men in their twenties now agree that “Japan’s image as a being a nation that will succumb to pressure is a concern.”
Finally Japan seems to grow a spine. Now start building nukes, show China the middle finger and tell the fags who demand a loli ban to shove those demands where the sun never shines.
