My reason for watching anime is the stories and plots. I like anime like Eureka 7, Bleach, D.Gray Man, etc. I find fanservice to be annoying and nothing more than a cheap way to overcome a lack of talent. It's the same way with movies really. Nudity is used as a means of making up for a weak plot and characters/acting.

I like those too...Mehh. Well, first of all the manga-ka for the seiries itself is a total ecchi type kind of guy. Seikon No qwaser itself is pretty borderline to hentai. It was directly pointed to ecchi, and not so much plot. Its all about the fanservice. your taste dosen't appeal to it...then it just dosen't. We like echhi and fanservice. Thats just us. Everyones different.

Has nothing to do with that. Think of all the anime that isn't getting a slot because of trash like this. This shit and other ecchi anime are the reason that anime is so stigmatized in the first place. Honestly, most people when they think of someone who watches anime thinks of some creepy fat guy. If you fit that appearance and you watch this trash then you are making the situation worse, which is a shame because anime has a lot to offer.

Also, you have quite the warped image of reality. The guys and girls from my anime club at university sure aren't losers, and we do not discriminate against fanservice. If you think only fat otaku have a thing for ecchi and fan service anime you clearly need to get out of your basement more.

I have to ask. If you hate fanservice and ecchi content, why are you on SanCom? A site which uses ecchi and hentai artwork to headline it's articles, and is filled with adds for both fanservice-laden Anime/Manga/Games, as well as strait up hentai? Even more importaintly, why did you click the link to this article, which is headlined with a very ecchi image and even has the word "bondage" in the title? These are things you said you hate. So why did you come on here?

To complain? If that's the case, then let me tell you something: don't bother. No one likes a complainer, it's very unbecoming. Elfenlied might not be the best example... But anime is anime because of everything that is anime, not only Grave of the Fireflies, Ghost in the Shell or Honneamise no Tsubasa (completely arbitrary selection).

But I get what you're saying, the troll is probably one of those weaboos that feel totally sophisticated when watching cartoon characters kill each other under the pretense of a "dark, mature story".

I see you get my point. And.. I don't think you could go on and on with your list, as those kind of anime are pretty rare. Still, I can't let those titles slide uncommented.

@Hotaru no Haka: It's a silent story without fanservice, but it may be awkward to assume it had a plot. Just two siblings that run away from home, a brother that won't return because of his pride and thus killing his sister and himself by malnutrition. (It's no spoiler, the movie starts that way.)

I chose these titles because they have a message to convey, which for various reasons is how I interpret "a story to tell". The plot does not have to be epic, complex or even the main focus of the work for that to apply. I particularly got the world literature vibe from Grave of the Fireflies and Honneamise, the latter of which I enjoyed immensely for precisely the reasons most people hated it (of course the breathtaking animation helped a lot too).

So anyway, I'm off to catching up on Queen's Blade S2 :3

True enough. Still, some dialogue really helps to get my attention. Hotaru no Haka and Honneamise were too silent for me. "There's no accounting for taste." is what my translater suggests. Whatever... finished Genshiken (manga) on to K-ON. If you can't fight back, join the moe.
