I remember reading an article about how obesity in Japanese men had doubled over the past 20 years or so, and I find it funny that Japan is still only a hair above that of the impoverished nations -- and actually lower in some cases.

I live in NZ (no.3) and i hav a BMI of 19 (underweight for height). We have a lot of islanders from samoa etc.. and pretty much if they try and eat a westerners diet they get diabetes and end up obese. Maoris NZ natives are generally shot and round. BMI isnt even a good indication of fit/fat.

Yeah I admit, there are many overly fat disgusting people in Australia as there is really slimmer healthy people. It really depends on your location. My area is full of fatties. Everywhere. Thats why I like travelling to my state's capital city, where there is less fat people.

I'm sure this is going to sound racist to some people but I always thought Mexicans were really poor and wouldn't have the money to eat excessive amounts of food. <.<
No not at all, it's pretty common for americans from the US to think such a way.
You probably thought lots of areas around the world were dirt poor. when in reality there are allot of city areas in these countries who do pretty well for example.
Mexicans are poor by American standards no doubt, but it's not that they eat a lot but rather they eat all the bad things they shouldn't, which is easier than it seems because the whole country is overrun with american food chains that sell their products cheaper than a traditional dish.
Obesity then occurs because this 'food' is ill suited to the Mexican lifestyle. Even traditional food is not all that healthy now, which used to be very healthy when a lot of the population worked in countryside farms plowing the fields all day.
Most of Mexico crossed back over the border once the recession hit.

At least in Mexico you don't get prosecuted for being obese. Here I can't even go for a work-out bicycle session or a morning jog without people giving me that look that says "Yeah you better run, you fat fuck". Every few months I am told by family and acquaintances telling me they're worried about my health or developing diabetes. The city buses have advertisements warning parents of childhood obesity. Every week someone publishes a new finding on obesity as if the results weren't obvious. And fat people can't get laid unless they find true love or they learn how to treat women like shit because that is what they respond to.
How do you think that makes us feel? Fucking guilty as shit. Making someone feel guilty about obesity is no way to encourage weight loss. Some of us are trying to lose weight so lay off the goddamn guilt already!
