Looks to me like they're handing the baton to the 504th by those ending shots.
There should at least be a spin off. I would also wanna see Sanya and Eila couple.
It will be sad without any more Strike Witches and girls walking around wearing nothing much below the waist as if it wasn't unusual.

Considering that only Mio and Yoshika lost their ability to fly and fight, there's a chance that the others may still show up in possible future SW Seasons (probably using 504th).
501th may be down, but I doubt that witches like Barkhorn will simply retire.
The episode per se was strongly plot-deviced for me (it was good, but... you know). For witches low on magic power, they were pretty strong... Maybe "never give up" and "There's nothing a witch can't do" regenerates magic power. Except on Mio.

She's Raise Pöttgen of the Afrika Corps - working with that Marseille who showed up 2-3 episodes ago.
And If anyone wondered, the girls in pic 66 are the Red Pants Squad, the best of the best of the Romagnian Army.
As for the omake, the girl in 77 is Edvardine 'Jinxed' Katajainen of the Soumus Air Force. 78 is Edytha Rossmann a veteran of the Karlsland Airforce - now a mentor.

Considering Season 2's "plot", I doubt that most of the open questions will ever be answered. It is all "hail to pantsu!" in the end.
This series sucked even more... instead of realizing it's plot and themes, it focused on being a pantless moe shit even more...
But who cares.. that's where the money lies...
It's possible that the lost katana(reppumaru) and the miyafuji's striker unit can still be infected and might couse another war?
