The menu resumes the essence of the anime. Just it. Fanservice and nothing more.
A FAIL series in my opinion
no cameltoe, what a tease
This is NOT the background image for main menu, it's just one of the actual scenes showing the pants coincides with pop-up menu enabled. The title is VERY misleading. The actual background is just a title of "High School of the Dead" with shaking effect, there's absolutely no fanservice going on. What a false advertisement. The disc uses SONY SBMV technology to minimize banding, the overall image quality isn't that great.
The opening menu sums up the series entirely. This is not an action show, a zombie survival show, a character or plot driven show... In fact, this show is nothing but fan service. At least the menu knows its filthy worthless audience and doesn't pretend the series has anything of worth to offer beyond panty flashes and gravity defying jello mound tits.

Either Artefact is trolling us or 100% of the readers here have some misconception that 'the contents are essentially unchanged' to mean that the censorship still exists - at first I interpreted as this but now I think it means that the BD do not come with re-drawn scenes/extra scenes/specials like BD's from SHAFT (Bakemonogatari BD was a completely different anime...)
If you think about it, it's silly to assume that the censorship will still exist in the BD...

Relying on fanservice marketing to boost disc sales while having high chances of them containing the same thing as the AT-X broadcasts isn't gonna leave them with a bright future for a possible second season if ever they plan to.
On second thought, what was this show about
again?zombies?apocalypse?gore?babes?boobs?panties?
The AT-X broadcasts probably make the producers as much money as the discs, in relative terms (else why would they show it uncensored there?).
Just because overseas pirates never pay the $22 monthly fee does not mean it is not a premium service.
Actually, depending on the purchase contract for the timeslot, they may have lost money on the broadcast.
Just because it airs on a premium network doesn't mean they automatically get a cut of subscriber revenue, the program airing uncensored is intended to attract subscribers for the network.
The biggest profit margin for everyone involved in the production will always lie in physical media sales, because that's the where the real money is and how the production costs are paid, next to outside licensing and merchandise.
Another factor you forgot to take into account was the fact that the series was licensed in the US and streaming an hour after Japanese broadcast on a known portal for a nominal fee, which also netted the production committee yet another source of profit.
Considering the series has already quiet close to the manga a second season is unlikely anyhow.
It was just made to boost Manga sells no doubt.
