Idol Master 2 Now Yaoi Master

IdolMaster fans have been stunned to learn that IdolMaster 2 will be adding a trio of hot bishonen to its traditional line-up of pubescent girls, even as a number of traditional fan favourites have been dumped from the game.
“Alice or Guilty”:
The three boy idol unit (including, appropriately enough, a 14-year-old called “Shota”) is known as “Jupiter”:
Presumably their inclusion is intended as a gambit to broaden the game’s appeal to include the as yet untapped yaoi-doujinshi consuming fujoshi market.
The changes are likely to provoke a creepy IdolMaster otaku reaction (if not a rebellion) – announced before the surprise addition of “Jupiter” was the removal of of four of the girls (Iori, Ami, Azusa and Ritsuko) from the playable roster, infuriating their fans, as well as a change in seiyuu for another of the girls.

HOLD ON Ritsuko, etc fans! If you read the Japanese website, the girls are *not gone* exactly.
Ritsuko has become a producer for 765. Iori, Azusa, and Ami are the unit she produces. Smoky Thrill is their debut song. I suspect this means those four girls will not be playable - just at the start of the game. (for story reasons)
However, if you remember from the first iM@S, you unlocked more capabilities as you played the game and your Producer Level went up. I think those four girls will probably be playable later on, as the story progresses. After all, we have already seen videos where those girls are in the 5-person units you can have!
So dispair not.
They are OFFICIALLY non-playable.
Or at least they'll be availible as DLC's. If not, someone's gonna smack a fag! Heheh. Get it? Cause the new bishies look gay? ...yeah. Not very funny.

Too bad. The only reason I had to get this game has vanished. My original unit was Ami, Miki and Ritsuko. But without them, there is no production unit for me.
Adding those gays to the idol line was a terrible mistake. Not only do I disagree with adding sexually confused brats to an exclusive loli-looking game, but they're taking the same steps Square Enix had in recent times.
Son, from now on, no more Idolmaster for me. I'll miss Ritsuko.
I agree with you 100% Also, why add guys to a game that's marketed towards guys? If you ask me, it doesn't make sense.
If they're trying to appeal to the "bisexual" women(that seem apparent in this site), or gays, this is going to turn off the general fanbase that plays this game. Not saying there's nothing wrong with their marketing, I'm just saying that there aren't many "bisexuals" or "gays" I'm aware of...

Really though, the issue here is that they expect to make a profit from this decision.
The reason why the 'market' for female gamers is largely 'untapped' is because the number of gamers who are going to buy a hardcore otaku product like this, even with bishonen is... very small, and the backlash from current fans (( especially with the obvious and inevitable perception that they took out some girls to add the guys in... )) will be very large.
It seems likely they didn't even put the simplest of thought into this design decision.

You'd be surprised what the Otaku can do. At the very most, by simply not buying this game or tossing the entire franchise all together, the company would be forced to abide by their safe fan-base. Or they could simply go after the Fujoshi women, which ever comes first.

but they didn't so the reactions were not unwarranted. by removing 4 of the girls and changing their seiyuu, that's like asking for a rebellion.

Instead of making it a new game, bonus content or just a part of the game they actually remove some of the girls for no truly necessary reason.
Getting new fans doesn't mean you have to lose the ones you already had if you're smart.

Those who did the character designs obviously have no idea what fujoshi likes... Those guys look lame as shit! If they are seriously trying to win over the yaoi fangirls, they would include a smexy, mysterious megane san, stylish badboy and a pretty long haired shy type, the three stereotypes of BL.
I feel ya. Then again, usually that type of thing would include more guys as well. But I have a feeling that they will get costumes to compensate.
From what I know it's not 100% sure that the 4 girls are not playable...I think that this game will be like the PSP one...in story mode Ritsuko's unit it's your rival...but in free produce you can use them...well I HOPE so...idolmaster without Azusa is shit.
