Zombies really do appear to be the new moe – top yakuza beat-em-up franchise Ryu ga Gotoku, or Yakuza as it is known overseas, has dumped yakuza in favour of zombies for its latest release, Ryu ga Gotoku: Of The End.

Thanks to Sega’s marketing genius, international Yakuza fans can probably forget about tasty hostess action in any overseas release – for the last game, Sega deemed such elements too Japanese for mere foreigners to comprehend and cut them from the game entirely.

I'm with the WTF comments here, but it's not the first time for a spinoff I suppose, so long as this is a one-off thing and not the permanent direction the series takes. In any event, although I don't care much for zombies (the fun I had with L4D and RE5 notwithstanding), this had better get exported and exported uncensored.

Left 4 Dead yakuza version? I'm in, as long as they leave the game untouched. An issue that freaks me the most, why are Japanese developers being so hermetic believing those kind of elements are not bearable by western costumers?

Yakuza didn't chunk out the yakuza... the yakuza are the heroes in this shit....
Not all yakuza are inherently bad people, and Yakuza 3 displayed very well what lengths the Yakuza can and will go to, to a degree. Naturally there will be some fantastical elements with realism, but generally the Yakuza series have been fairly faithful to portraying the yakuza.

When a franchise becomes way too successful (both in quality and financial manner), it's that hard to stay true to the original path? It's Sonic all over again.
Oh well, at least the fourth main game stays true to the formula, so I'm looking forward to the localized Yakuza 4 in next spring, hopefully without those unlogical cuts. But this is propably not gonna be a purchase.
