Hot on the heels of the official Final Fantasy XIV PC comes a selection of Square Enix approved PC hardware ranging from mice and controllers to, of all things, a “made for Final Fantasy XIV” router…
All that is missing is a Square Enix endorsed ISP – presumably limited to 15 hours a week of usage.

you sure know how to make money square "-_____-
actually, no, they don't know how to make money. that's why they've been sucking dicks lately and sell people crap that they don't need.
I would be sold if one of the bonus items you got from the special edition stuff was "fun".
Here is a video for people who don't understand the fatigue system (and for people who think they understand but really don't).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abE09-tqhoM
Ugh, they didn't even try to make them good looking? They look like any other generic accessory set.
Final Fantasy condoms would be a great idea. So many meanings to it...
I kinda liked the router design
they might as well make a ff14 car, bike, pillowcase, condoms and whatever else they can use to milk gamers
Where's the dutch wife cat girl based on the race?
/taps foot
I've pre-ordered my lalafell loli sex doll already.
The controller look terribad(sure it is shaped like a PS3 controller but the internals and plastic are probably much cheaper), the mouse looks like one oft hose $5 laptop mice. The router is probably limited and terribad in comparison to un-square-branded routers. The keyboard is a wannabe g15(before the color LCD's)
The speakers probably overpriced garbage as well....
Rarely have I seen quality game branded items. At the same time, why even offer a mouse when your game doesn't properly support the same mouse interface that games have been using for years. Namely hardware mouse rather than software. Better yet with hardware mouse most people won't complain when their FPS drops slightly but with the current system you not only can see it but you can feel it.
neat set ...yet, just another way to rip us off
do they sell clocks too? Or day planners with shit already filled out for you? Fuck this shit, their business model needs to crash and burn.
Coincidently I had to spend hours examining my rooters firewall logs to figure out how to enable the awful download program square happened to make for FF14... so that router up there might actually be somewhat useful. Then again, setting it up to be decent is a lot harder than just sticking a logo on it. So I have a guess what they did.
19xx = Play For Fun
20xx = Play For Dumb
even the idiot can Finish SE RPG Game Now
Oh brother, maybe they should make mice works in their game before trying to sell one.
fuck that game I could not even get the sound to work in the open beta test but it worked fine in the closed beta test, if you buy this game and the sound is fucked be forewarned
Maybe I'm paranoid here but a Final Fantasy router? Could it be that Square Enix has the ability to spy on its subscribers? Maybe it's not only the router that's bugged but all the hardware that is final fantasy themed.
of course you're paranoid. why would SE want to spy on a piss-ass-no-good-consumer such as yourself? the data they will collect from your SE certified $3000+USD FF14 computer is just for the lulz. o, don't mind about all those SE popups that copies the same graphics over and over. it's just a minor bug they haven't worked out. it seems that their computer also inherited the copy pasta virus from the game.
When do we get the official licensed Twenga?
This hilarious beyond measure.
Square Enix must be on the weed. They don't trust in merchandise anymore.
I'll wait for Final Fantasy XIV: The Toilet Paper (needless to say I'm getting the lalafell version).
This mouse and controller look nice, I want it :D (mouse in first place xD)
Whatever MMO you play DO NOT buy any other mouse than the Razer Naga. I don't care if it's approved for Final Fantasy or comfortable left-handed surfing while looking for porn. The 17 buttons on Naga will come in handy.
But the only thing in those kind of mouse that pains me is, lack of 2xLeftMouseButton Click :/ I like this button when i'm navigating in windows xD
The controller is tempting as the UI really is designed for one!
The only thing I want from FFXIV is a client that works on my bootcamp-running Mac Pro. I have all the processing power in the world, a billion terabytes of RAM and a pretty strong graphics card only to have the client crash. Bah.
But I play on my old PC and it is a very good game. Some tweaks need to be made to the design, sure, but half of them are confirmed to be on the way, and a lot of the other 'problems' such as the fatigue system are not problems at all that have been blown out of all proportion.
Tuff luck, runs fine on a MacBook Pro, the only problem is that the game is mostly crap.. As mentioned above: pretty graphics, ok music, may be the plot is also good, but the rest - from controls and mechanics to locations design and quests system - is silent horror.
Tortured myself a few days playing open beta and got rid of it for good, I'm not a fanatic to turn blind eye at obvious misses of developers.
I think a lot of the mechanics are an improvement over most MMOs tbh. I love the battle system, it's so much nicer to be involved in your fights rather than being able to spam the same tick-based moves.
The crafting and class mechanics are excellent as well. There are one or two design decisions that I don't like, and the interface is absolutely horrible I admit. But this is my favourite MMO to date despite all that, largely because it doesn't suffer from a lot of the same problems that most of them do.
and by involved in your fights you mean 1 1 1 1 1 1 1(did the skill go off yet?) 1 1 1 Oh snap I have enough TP do do a special 2 2 2 2(I think it went off) 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 alright mob killed only 100 more till I can level up.
Well so what ?
If SE wants to make some extra money from a gaming pc with some FF XIV stickers on it, let them :p
Though I agree the FF router is a wierd piece of equipment :D
Maybe the router is designed for low ping rates.
Nah. I guess it is designed for max profits. ^_^
Well here is there FFXIV gimmic -
1)Make the game so that ppl have to get a super good pc and video card to play
2)Charge them monthly to play but limit how long they can play
3)To maximize profit have only a few ppl work on level design and only use a few graphics for background, and now endorse things that are approved to play the game.
I guess from a business point of view they should make money no matter how many games are sold >_>
1) Beta works fine on my 3 year old computer at 1080p.
2) Fatigue system limits you to 8 hours 'worth' of grind xp (not playtime) at 100% gain, with diminishing returns for each hour for another 8 hours worth. Limits for Physical level and each specific job are independant, so if you want to keep character progression going at "Max rate", you switch classes and only lose out on the phys level gains a bit. (Think grinding for JP in FFT instead of actual character level)
Unless you are a loser NEET you're not likely to bump into a hard cap. And it's not like the game logs you out after 8 hours of play anyways, you just don't level up (as fast).
3) Terrain features are reused about as much as it is in WoW or other MMOs, it's not something you really notice in game unless you want to really nitpick.
Summary: It's alright to hop on your hate bandwagon, but at least try things out or learn a bit more before you do, or else you look like a Florida preacher.
I tried this game for a couple days. I really REALLY wanted to love it as I am a disillusioned WoW player still trying to find that fantasy experience I loved so much in the original Everquest. Instead what I found was boring boring...boring!
2 hour drive sounds a bit much,
1 hour to make food? a day?
and you don't need a 1 hour bath male or female, 15 minutes is more than you need to wash hair and clean self, unless you masturbate there too.
for me, i have honestly never met a person with more than a 30 minute drive to work, who wasn't looking for a new place closer to work
At anon 10:02, I think you're dumb. Look here:
I have to work 9 hours a day, and -7 hours for sleep (thats exactly how much I sleep) that leaves me with 8 hours. -2 hours to get TO and FROM the job to home. -1 hour to prepare food and eat, -1 hour to take a bath, do other stuff for me, and that leaves me with approx 4 hours a day for gaming. at weekend I usually busy cuz I do lots of stuff, and have about 6 hours a day for gaming, 20+6+6= about 32 hours a week for gaming. Oh wait, you're actually right. That's pretty much.
like i said above, that is fucking retarded. let me fucking level, ill do other shit later once i cap.
i for one, once i hit the hard cap in everquest, went on to max trade skills, than went on to max everything else.
if i want to level, LET ME FUCKING LEVEL, if i want to level other classes, ill do that when i give a fuck about them.
you your 3) look at everquest.
we have discussed that reusing rocks, textures and houses, and other objects like that is ok, however they copy pasted LARGE chunks of land, this is FAR different form any REAL (you pay money a month to play, not any of these bastard children free to play kind of nickel and dime games)
ever quest is over 11 years old and reused less than this fucking game does.
and to your 2) lets say that someone in school has the rough equivalent of a full time job, and they put in over time. thats 40 hours a week. over time of 3 hours a day thats 55 hours a week, and lets assume 4 weeks at 7 days each a month to make the math easier.
and lets allocate 8 hours to sleep a day, i know i sleep 12 hours, but i can function a work day on only 2, so 8 will be the happy medium.
thats 56 hours of sleep a weeks
55 or work
and a week has 168 hours
thats 57 left over hours a week
and thats 228 hours a month left over. now you can tell me that those people have no life, but if you are seriously telling me that of that 228 hours, its hard for you to play more than 32 hours, than maybe mmo's aren't for you.
i know while i was in school i was putting 40 hours minimum into everquest a week. because i learned to function on 2 hours of sleep.
telling me to do other things than to level up, and most of it being meta game bullshit is unacceptable. you dont force people do play that part of the game you make people want to play that part of the game
You can "level up" different classes ( it's the same char, but multiple specializations ), and there're so many that you can grind for the week without sleeping and still wouldn't get the to limit.
3) Terrain features are reused about as much as it is in WoW or other MMOs, it's not something you really notice in game unless you want to really nitpick.
Not really, cannot be unseen, it's like a maze if you look at the map
Also
"All that is missing is a Square Enix endorsed ISP – presumably limited to 15 hours a week of usage."
It's becoming quite redundant. Seriously, this must be mentioned in every article? It's not even completely true.
They limit you to 8 hours of good gameplay so you don't notice all the copy pasting
I've played the open beta too and there's definitely more to hate than just the terrain and the lesser exp as time goes by. I prefer the FFXI arrow over target than the circle - target seems to always target urself first. The having to hit the "skill" key repeatedly to use the skill to ensure victory - tho this is less of an issue since it is also used in another mmo i enjoy playing. Weird movement from still position to running position.
One thing not really mentioned much is this crysta they are coming out with - its gonna be making FFXI a pay n play sorta feel - the more u pay the better stuff u get and whatnot. Nothing has been said as to what its used to buy exactly but im thinking an In-game shop in sure to be added.
I find it deliciously ironic how many people copy and paste the same criticisms when one of those criticisms is copy and paste design.
I've played the open beta pretty solidly for the past couple of weeks and not run into any of these problems. Those I know who HAVE run into Fatigue have made forum threads explaining their experience with it and how "actually, it isn't really an issue at all."
At least all the FFXIII hate actually had some substance. If you're going to criticise XIV, at least do it about the stuff it actually does badly, such as the UI.
What do you mean the router is weird? It's probably guaranteed to work with their shitty partcher so people don't have to use torrent clients to get patches.
If the game doesn´t sell well you have to make the money with the merchandise.
Why would they approve a mouse... the mouse in the game doesn't even work properly, by design.
Cause SE knows, no matter how much you bitch about it, they still laugh at someone who orders it like on Amazon.
Because you use a normal mouse. You need to buy the certified FF XIV one. Squenix sure found an interesting way to make even moar profits...
It's not actually a mouse, it's just an empty plastic shell to set next to your computer. They know nobody's going to use it and they can make more profit that way.
Must get controller o3o
I like the all in one idea, moreover u could use that set for any other PC game
I thought there was a limit to capitalism heh
Tried the beta, slow ass game and you can't jump.
Grind fest Ctrl+C Ctrl+V?
Do not want.
Does it come with an "Extra Play Hours" Gift Card..?
@Azure Xuchilbara
It doesn't log you out after 8 hours, u just gain a penalty on the amount of exp gained on that particular job.
Every Final Fantasy fag knows that u need to play more than one job in order to survive anyway.
sub jobs are like sex- if you dont have it by 18; people make fun of you
Sorry, but no.
"The XP gain limit is not tied to any class/job but is per character." - Game's director
Agreed.
A true Final Fantasy XIV computer would have a special chip, recognizing all the recurring information (due to copy and paste) and use that knowledge to save enormous amounts of processing power.
15 faps per second?
No, it would run at a blazing 115fps on a netbook. However, the result would be the same 15 frames copy and pasted at blazing speeds to your monitor...which would, of course would need to be a FF monitor
@Anon 08:37 if that loli nude mod is made, you can up the faprate to 60 fps.
It would still run at 15 fps, though.
I want a Chocobo PC. That might look so silly that it would be reversed to awesome.
You need the special controllers & mouse to jump and the special router for the game to run fast. ^_^
if there is 1 good thing about square, they aren't forcing you to get those to play the game, and the could.
SE should sell the official FF14 dildo, so they can buy it and fuck themselves.
Dear lord, then it's a must buy!
i lol'd at the router. can you imagine some1 buying that as a collectors item. "dude, i got a special edition router sealed"......wtf?
you can actually enjoy a dildo, they want to do the raping themselves
I can understand the controllers ....but speakers??? WHY?
you mean you need the router to extend the gameplay to more than 8 hours a week
Unless you get the FF speakers, you won't get hear the Nobuo Uematsu music, and instead it will be replaced by Leona Lewis' latest album.
awwww u poor thing. u can't jump ;;
Whiny retards. do not want.
<_< if you want to hop like a rabbit just play WoW you retard
Yes, you can't jump. That summarizes my point of view on the slow ass gameplay. What's that game supposed to be? Some kind of visual masturbation?
Last decent third person game I played that you couldn't jump was Zelda, and at least in Zelda you still jump if you try walking towards a cliff.
