$110 Haruhi Mahjong Game Total Otaku Exploitation

Even hardened Haruhi otaku have been shocked by the announcement of the latest game in the Haruhi franchise – a thrilling PSP mahjong game of “less than doujin quality,” but with a $110 price tag.
Some screenshots from the game tell all that is needed:
“Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Mahjong” comes in two versions – the DX Pack is an astonishing ¥9429 ($110) but comes with such trinkets as a Nendoroid Puchi Haruhi-chan (a $5 trading style figure), a special box and a DVD. Pre-orders get some mahjong tile stickers.
Meanwhile, the peasant pack comes with nothing and retails for just ¥6279 ($75).
Just whether Haruhi otaku will balk at this abuse remains to be seen – unfortunately, previous evidence seems to suggest not.

Wha~? This looks like those doujin games you can find in DLsite (which averagely only cost at most $20)... and the exclusive figure honestly looks hardly as good as the 3-in-1 nendoroid puchi sets (which usually also cost around $20)..

I agree with what's been said, Saki mahjong would be awesome. But what does Haruhi have to do with mahjong? And those graphics look NDS or even GBA level.

Wow. The characters are bad, but even the tiles are bad! Another test that will show Haruhi fans will buy anything... I thought the first series was above average, but Endless Eight, and all the crazy fan spinoff and meme stuff just beat it to death for me. :/
I wholeheartedly recommend Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Jan as far as modern mahjong games. I also love Suchi Pai and Kana Janshi though I'm not interested in trying SP4, it looks... wrong.

I initialy thought it was $110 for a haruhi themed mahjong set (of real tiles), which wouldnt have been all that outrageous.

The game has a $75 price tag, not a $110 price tag. That's still pretty high, but it's a little silly to say the price of the special edition is the price of the game itself.

This nendoroid Puchi Haruhi-chan have release before as haruri/haruhi-chan comic lotto prize limited only 100 piece. In japan it sale for 60,000-80,000¥. This is great chance to get it cheap.

are psp games typically this expensive (75) in japan or just otaku games? don't we usually get games here for 30 bucks? well the few psp games that we do actually get.

I've been waiting for a true Saki Mahjong game. I guess it's too difficult to program for all those godly girl players' abilities? I'd imagine it could be. But it'd be awesome if they have a Mahjong game with the play characteristics of Saki characters.
