$110 Haruhi Mahjong Game Total Otaku Exploitation

Even hardened Haruhi otaku have been shocked by the announcement of the latest game in the Haruhi franchise – a thrilling PSP mahjong game of “less than doujin quality,” but with a $110 price tag.
Some screenshots from the game tell all that is needed:
“Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Mahjong” comes in two versions – the DX Pack is an astonishing ¥9429 ($110) but comes with such trinkets as a Nendoroid Puchi Haruhi-chan (a $5 trading style figure), a special box and a DVD. Pre-orders get some mahjong tile stickers.
Meanwhile, the peasant pack comes with nothing and retails for just ¥6279 ($75).
Just whether Haruhi otaku will balk at this abuse remains to be seen – unfortunately, previous evidence seems to suggest not.

I've been waiting for a true Saki Mahjong game. I guess it's too difficult to program for all those godly girl players' abilities? I'd imagine it could be. But it'd be awesome if they have a Mahjong game with the play characteristics of Saki characters.
I assume how it would work is everyone (I hope the player included) would get "abilities" they could use.
Otherwise, normal Mahjong just doesn't work like that...
If you mean saki portable for the psp I think is already released since March.....

are psp games typically this expensive (75) in japan or just otaku games? don't we usually get games here for 30 bucks? well the few psp games that we do actually get.

It seems imports are usually pretty expensive to begin with, but yeah, Otaku games seem that much more expensive.
Though Strike Witches 360 game came with a Miyafuji Nendoroid limited edition, it still cost something like $120..

Yes, except Haruhi is far from dead. The movie just grossed hundreds of millions of yen and has been running for almost seven months now.
If that kind of those numbers equate to a series being dead then I wonder what would be required for a series to be considered successful.
the movie wasn't bad, however animation, and i believe the novels are dead.
and as of right now, this series is on its last legs, only more books at a decent pace can save this but i seriously doubt thats going to happen
