Just wait till more good games come out for it and then there will be a new 3DS model so you can either buy the old 3DS for cheaper or buy a new better 3DS.

To complete my post above: even with the price raise everytime, the DS has sold over 30.5M units in Japan alone, making it the most successful console over there. And it might as well make it to 32M by xmas.

If the 3DS is somewhat as successful as the DS, there won't be a price reduction until a new 3DS model comes out (i.e Lite or w/e).

So if you really want a 3DS it'd be better to go for it at release, or pay a premium price for a next model which might have the same price or even a little higher price.

For reference in Japan the DS went up in price everytime a new model came out: DS < DSL < DSi < DSi XL

That was before the 25-30 percent defect rates became apparent for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and when everyone KNEW that the Wii would be magnet for gimmicky shovelware bullshit, but it was assumed that the 360 and PS3 would be more like their predecessors.

to be honest the wii isnt made for hardcore gamers, and no one thought you would get non gamers to get that system.
