UNICEF’s Donations at Work

unicef-house.jpg

UNICEF Japan doesn’t only spend its donations suing critics into silence and campaigning against freedom of speech – it has also spent tens of millions of dollars building and maintaining its gigantic HQ in the middle of Tokyo.

Built by Mitsubishi in 2001 in Minato City, Tokyo’s most expensive and prestigious district, “UNICEF House” cost at least 30 million dollars to construct and boasts 3,702 square metres of office space across 5 floors and a basement.

The lavishly appointed headquarters was the cause of instant consternation when completed, with many questioning the appropriateness of an HQ more befitting a multinational corporation than a non-profit children’s charity supposedly concerned with improving the lot of starving third world children.

UNICEF Japan for its part claims the huge building was necessary “to save money.”

Photographs of the interior are completely lacking, save for the all important gift shop – those wondering about the relationship between UNICEF Japan and UNICEF proper might well notice the organisation refers to itself only as “UNICEF” here, and of course the name of the building omits the fact that the organisation has nothing to do with the UN.

unicef-giftshop.jpg

unicef-hous-signage.jpg

By comparison, the real UNICEF’s sole Japanese presence consists of a single room in the Tokyo-based United Nations University.

Of course, the real UNICEF is scarcely any better than UNICEF Japan in terms of its unaccountable use of donations and taxpayer funds in such worthy causes as censoring freedom of speech – in particular, serious questions must be asked about any organisation which allows regional franchises to use its name in the perpetration of widespread fraud, and it can hardly be regarded as an innocent party.

I'd becareful if I were you SnooSnoo.

UNICEF of Japan reminds me of how Scientology works elsewhere, setting up "HQs" that cost millions in the middle of cities, and using their money to heavily litigate the offending opinions and criticism.

They're truly scary stuff. They are NOT afraid to hunt down everyday civilians. I'd rather not say more at this point...

    Religious-Cult Mafia = Scientology

"We'll send 'them' to cap your ass if you threaten us..."

    Legal Fraud Organization = UNICEF

"We'll sue you and your website to silence your ass if you threaten us..."

I really don't give a damn what both of them do...But the latter of the two is a threat to anime and hentai...

And that makes it everyone's (anime/hentai fans) business...

might need more than a stockpile of molotov to bring down that base of evil. you need a team, better weapon (c4, Ak-47, Famas, Rpg-7,), and loli magazine (to recover your 'pscyhe' and use it as a bait)

You need FMG-148 Javelin instead of Rpg-7, HK416 or XM8 prototype instead of AK-47. Semtex instead of c4 as it's harder to detect it. You also need a H&K PSG1 or FN SPR for long range sniping.

loli magazine is also fine but remember to provide a box for your Snake where he could read it safely. Otherwise it could trigger a femnazi air raid from the UNICEF Japan's rooftop. With hang gliders!

There's plenty of such weapons in Camp Zama, Yokosuka Naval Base, and Misawa AFB--Take your pick. Get some spec-ops guys on your side and let them handle the dirty work.

Now do you understand why it might actually be a good thing for the Americans to have a few bases over in Japan at the cost of a few Okinawan schoolgirls' virginities?

It's a given that the longer a charity or special interest group has been around, the farther from their initial goal they stray from.

In the end, they become a vehicle to gather more money and to do everything in their power to continue their own existence and relevance.

One can look at Unicef, various environmental groups, feminist lobbiers and the like as examples.

well i hope they dont stray away from their principles as Yevon(FYI: religious organisation in FFX, first the party is in support of said one later on hunted down) as they used machina themself by forbiding it to others and the thing whith the "undead"(forgot what they were called)
taking into account they stay in for the rights of children, i hope they dont abuse them as the ones they want to protect them from(the real 3D ones)

@snoosnoo: do you really mean Yu Yevon(final boss in FFX, storywise) and not just Yevon

Well what your said about their organisation parallel with the Yevon religion is right too.
But what I meant was the after a long time, they forgot their original purpose and just focused on staying alive like Yu Yevon.

If this bunch of crooks tried to pull this shit in any Western country, they'd be under criminal investigation. It's quite obvious that they're allowing people to be misled into believing that they're part of the real UNICEF in order to get more donations and to give their moralistic proclamations more legitimacy, and it's quite obvious that a lot of the money they're given by people who want to help poor African kids is actually going towards giving Agnes Chan and her fellow holier-than-thou prudes and freedom-haters a very comfortable life.

They should be hauled in front of a court and made to explain why they don't make it clearer that they aren't part of the UN and what percentage of the donations they get are actually going towards helping real, living, 3D children.

There are bunches of crooks in western countries that perpetrate fraud like this all the time and get away with it. How is Scientology really any different? They claim they're trying to help people, but really they're just stealing their money. And that's just the most obvious example. Plenty of western charities have very dubious financial practices. Just saying, this sort of fraud isn't limited to Agnes Chan and her ilk.

    'UNICEf' JP:
"Um... A little less than 0%. But that's OK because we have a big ass thirty bazillion yen building sitting in the middle of the most expensive district in Tokyo, to prove to everyone that we are most definitely a non-profit organization."

they say if you win the lottery, that you should give a good sum to charity... i'd say use that charity money to help those around you. local food shelters, money to your freinds to help them out. owell

and the so called pledges by the uber rich to donate atleast half of there multi billion dollar fortunes to charity.. What Charitys???
