Both the K-ON! manga and anime are apparently due to end in September.
The latest issue of Manga Time, where the original manga is still being serialised, reports that “the next instalment will be the finale!”, whilst another page informs readers that “both the anime and manga are to climax!”
Just whether these announcements can be taken at face value is still not clear – some have voiced doubts about their authenticity (although the consensus appears to be that they are genuine), whilst yet others wonder if the manga will simply transition to a university setting or otherwise be renewed.

Nothing will actually happen, they'll play a few cool songs with delightfully moe animation, and then the series will 'end', shortly before OVA's and a movie are announced.
It's funny how people will just hate anything that 4chan decides to hate nowadays. Not everything has to have a proper story, Ikki Tousen and Western-made superhero comics are perfect examples of that.
It's rather obvious that we need to have haters for something to be significant... simply put the balance... the Yin and the Yang, the Black and white, the Sun and Moon, the Day and Night...
We need need to have haters that ass-force their definite hatred of something. Because the want the whole world to know how they hate something.
I dunno maybe it makes them feel better or satisfied.

Many great comedy animes don't have a 'real' plot, but that doesn't mean they're bad. And K-on! happens to be largely based on comedy.
I never cracked so much as a smile at their "comedy".

I always love when people use the "THEY JOINED THE BANDWAGON" excuse when it comes to a lot of people disliking something. Granted, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that there are some people that do it in the first place all the while there are just people out there that dislike it for various reasons.

Hope to see the mangaka's next manga project. Hopefully it'll continue the cute, relaxing atmosphere of K-On.

K-ON! was cute and relaxing for the first four episodes or so. Then it got bad pretty fast. I still watch it but I don't enjoy it as much as I did when I first started.

It was alright~ I gotta say I enjoyed it, but I didn't follow it. It's a wonderful little piece, I just don't see any reason for it not to be shorter.
