US Military Publishes Moe Manga

us-military-moe-manga-a-lasting-partnership-001.jpg

The US military has issued a charming moe manga in an effort to win over Japanese sceptical of the value of an alliance costing them billions of dollars and the virginity of countless schoolgirls.

Aside from pressing base-related PR reasons which forced the last Japanese Prime Minister to resign after he broke his promise to the people of Okinawa to relocate a particularly hated US base, the manga celebrates the 50 years which have elapsed since Japan was elevated from colony to puppet.

The story covers rabbit-eared American boy Usa-kun as he “protects” a Japanese household from such pressing threats as cockroaches, whilst explaining the details of the alliance, all published freely online:

Unsurprisingly, the manga glosses over all the schoolgirl rape and vast sprawling Okinawan bases which are the most immediate cause of friction over the alliance, although this would likely require several volumes of ero-manga to do justice to.

Japan and America would probably both get into building mecha.
You'll find the american ones are powered by fuel and a battery (most likely nuclear), somewhat easy to use with a bit of training, and will carry machineguns, missile launchers and large-scale grenades. They will be mass-produced in china using lead, iron, and some amalgamation of cheap metals. Three to five will be stationned at each ground base.

Japan, however, will build two giant robots for their tiny country. They'll be in bright colors, will have an action figure line to keep funds coming in, and they'll be powered by sheer manliness, thus only a certain few will be able to pilot it.

Fun thing I learned about today.
Gorilla glass are glass that won't break even dropped from 2 meters onto concrete and it was invented in 1960s. It had little use then but now if used on iphones it won't kill the phone if dropped and it conducts heat better than plastic for those touch screens.

Mechs may be impractical now but so was the arqubuss then.

So sadly, your dream of any mecha will have to be left to the U.S. military. (i hear they have success in all terrain robots and unmanned bombers.)

Gundams would be too much of a logistical and technical nightmare to even be applicable in warfare. Do you have any idea how much it'd cost to create and maintan such things? Not to mention, a giant robot's mobility would be severely hindered by the landscape, thereby making it useless near population centers, especially in cities. Not to mention, it has a massive profile, so combined with an inherrently unstable design, any halfwit can call an airstrike and blow it right out of existence--You wouldn't even be able to do surprise attacks with it. You might as well spend more on tank divisions for the JGSDF, but I doubt the Japanese government is willing to do so.

And no, Gundams do not have the adequate aerodynamics to fly, so don't even think about asserting that.

This means that Gundams are 100% worthwile, as they can stop on entire nations armies so long as they do not have nukes, and won't have a radioactive backdrop!

An exercise for the imagination: a man gets shot in the leg.
He falls over, using his other extremities to manage his leg enough to get back up again. His defense against further bullets is limited.

Now, a bear gets shot in the leg.
It shifts it's weight, and maintains 80% of it's charging speed. Then it comes over and mauls whoever shot it.

The above example is why gundams don't work, and why military designs will continue to be designed by quadropedophiles.
    Oh yeah, I went there.

It's not a matter of doubting they can exist, but where the practicality in them lie. The justification for mobile suits in U.C. was due to conventional long range warfare rendered ineffective due to minovsky particle interference. Close range combat became necessary.

Ideally something like a Valkyrie Fighter would be best, but just think of the costs.

We already have the technology, the problem is a power source that doesn't require a 3" diameter power cable to run the thing.

Honestly, there are a lot of technologies that are hindered by our lack of a viable portable power source.

The troops that flooded most of Europe at the start of WWII were called the Wehrmacht (Defence Force) and currently Germany has the Bundeswehr. And most of the ministries in Europe governing the various armies are called Ministry of Defence. So if you want to know what something is, knowing the name doesn't suffice.
Back on topic, Japan really needs the US troops to maintain the regional power balance, at least until they can kiss and make up with a reunited Korea, if that ever happens.
If the US were to pull out of Japan, either China would try to annex Korea and Japan, or more likely use the implicit threat to blackmail the two countries into effectively becoming dependency states dancing to China's tune. Which would be bad for us as well.
Because of this, I find it incomprehensible that we don't do more to prevent the horribly things our marines are marines are doing in Japan, to bring them to justice, and that we don't abolish the special jurisdiction.

Well, Japan may have a limited force projection, but the US has done a lot to quietly improve their defense profile.

One of the things that's no longer an official secret is the presence of English-speaking Japanese as auxiliaries in Vietnam. Probably no more than 150 guys, but they took that experience and founded the JSDF's combat schools, and farmed them for it's first special forces.

The important thing to see is how early the US understood the need to modify the 'self-defense' template.

I just want to share this, I'm from the Philippines and there has been a time where 3 American soldiers raped and killed a young Filipino woman. The US government bullied the authorities into moving the soldiers into the US embassy. From there, they were transported back to the US. They got off without any punishment. There was a large amount of people praying and asking for justice, camping outside the embassy for weeks. Justice was never granted.

Even with all the contentiousness and the bad behavior of American troops over there, it actually has been a pretty fair deal the last 50 years or so. It's just that it really is unfair to make the Japanese citizens pay for what is an American base in an American soil/base over there..

Also, fully pulling the military from Japan can be risky. I bet North Korea and China are just drooling at the opportunity.

And it is pretty strange how the US has pumped so much money and effort into Japan. It's a really strange situation if you think about it. Did the US pump up the Vietnamese region with money? Did it do the same thing for South Korea or Phillipines? Nope. I'm with the whole 'military bad for locals' thing and all, but historically, it has been a pretty decent coalition.

Now all they need to do is rein in the punk soldiers who prey on innocents.

And when Japan releases those oversized robots, they will discover that they chew up huge amounts of unnecessary power as it strains to keep itself up due to it almost collapsing under its own weight and are less feasible than a tank due to instability and and a large amount of complex and expensive parts (which equals huge amounts of maintenance as well as risk of failure). Also, try putting 80+ tons of chassis and weapons on legs and make it walk on sand or mud. The only real purpose they would serve is if they were a lot smaller (as small as exoskeletons) and served in urban environments, which is exactly what the US is working on.

Don't get me wrong, I love robots and would love there to be real gundams/arm slaves/nightmares/etc. but unfortunately the reality is that those would be too expensive, unreliable, and just useless against something like a tank. It's easy to rip off connecting pieces such as limbs and unbalance something that has its center of gravity high above the ground (this isn't good); it's not as easy to damage a huge, stable block of armor like a tank. Contrary to popular belief, tank armor is either pierced or the round bounces off-there is very little progressive damage.
