For the first time ever Aya Hirano has spoken publicly of her love life, sparking off instant otaku fury before the revelations have even aired.

In a recent interview she reports (about 9 minutes in) she has “revealed all” about her love life in an upcoming variety programme episode to air at the start of August – “It’s up to you what you think, but don’t hate me!” she says, paradoxically.

With her TV talent appearances for the start of August having now risen to no less than 5 different programmes in a single week, it also seems she is indeed thrusting headlong into the world of TV talent whilst leaving her mouldering career as seiyuu-idol behind.

Revelations about her love life are sure to alienate completely her creepy otaku fanbase, suggesting she may well be intent on abandoning her idol/seiyuu credentials completely.

Even the mere admission that she has a love life has already stoked 2ch’s substantial seiyuu stalking component (along with their even more numerous detractors) into a frenzy:

“‘Don’t hate me’ – she thinks anyone still likes her?”

“So she’ll tell us what positions she likes?”

“A bitch making bitch talk doesn’t change the fact she’s already a bitch.”

“Fans who stop liking her because of this weren’t real fans to start with!”

“Don’t dump us!”

“She can say whatever she likes, if she does it in Konata’s voice all will be forgiven.”

“I hope she’s prepared for the reaction of all those creepy otaku…”

“There’s no way any creepy otaku would forgive an idol who had a boyfriend for even a second.”

Ah the art of trolling, with this her otaku fanbase will be raging in no time. On an additional note I agree with jareth, whoever her bf is will have to fight off a lot of basement dwellers.

    @ LanSlyde 11:06 :

Ah, just rent an arena, announce a free Aya Hirano "event", and make blunt weapons available to the attendees, and film the ensuing carnage as "Otaku vs Otaku Spectacular".

No need for Aya to even show up at the event -- it just adds to the Rage-O-Mania scores of the basement dwellers.

    true to an extent

but then again, anyone that likes her, and is being honest with themselves, only liked/likes her because she voices a series of anime characters.

thus leaving you with precious little to idolize her for if she stops voicing anime characters.

so the question becomes who is actually being more shallow?

the people still clinging to their idolatry just because of a lingering otaku hard-on for anime characters such as Haruhi and Konata (who, being as exaggerated as they are, probably have not actual relation to Aya as a person)?

or the people that stopped being interested because she's stopped doing the only thing she's honestly known for doing?

she honestly has a good voice, and thats it.

i may be shallow, i may be sad and pathetic, but all she was ever famous for was having a good voice, and it will be missed, though i cant say the same for her.

It's really simplistic to attribute her appeal to a 'good voice'. Tom Cruise has a good voice- but Steve Buscemi is a better actor.

Hirano gets her characters- maybe because someone explains them to her, but probably because she's ballsy enough to take risks with them.
Haruhi Suzumiya is an egotistical bitch, but what drives her is fear of insignificance. She's like a Bipolar chairman Mao- and she's the major protagonist. Think about how easy it'd be to get that recipe wrong.

Following Seiyuu customs, she may be cute and glamorous, but what really sells me on Aya Hirano is shit like this:

I can't say that apples to me. I've never heard any of her VA work, and the first I'd her of her was articles posted about her here on SanCom. After reading those I developed a sort of curious apathy for her which led to me picking up Riot Girl on a whim one day. I liked it, and started listening to her music after that. If one would call me a fan of hers, it would be because of that, not her work in anime.

I don't understand why idols have to devote their lives to a bunch of sweaty nerds. If I knew someone that devoted their life to me; who just listens to their voice and has no "real" interaction with then I'm not too happy with that idea.

People shouldn't have their personal lives locked up and have the key thrown away just because of a career option.

Also, it's not like anyone should truly be broken up by this. All they did was listen to her idol-persona.

    Just what's up.

I don't understand why an idol has to give up basically everything in their personal lives for their fan-base. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan, but I wouldn't want her not to have a personal life for the fan-bases sake. It seems more absurd for her to lose her entire career because of it (if that happens).

Nobody's personal life should be caged because of a career option.

Come on otakus, if you really cared about your idol, you'd let her go onto better things and still recognize her.

We are already residents of the 2D world, having discarded the 3D one.
What's the point in idolizing a 3D woman now!?

Let us devote ourselves to our 2D goddesses and let the other 3D residents live their live as they want.
