Anime Girls Shapelier Than Ever?

Way back when it was done on hand drawn Cels they were either blocky or they didn't have a midsection and that was a style. Take the 1st 120 EPs of SailorMoon, the middle of their legs went up to their breast area so it looked like they had really really long legs but the skirt only covered emptiness. Today with the computer generated photo tracing lines, they are almost lifelike including down to the creases between the thighs, legs and around that never would have made a Cel drawing.

I really think it's just variations in style.

Though the example for '97 is just fuckterrible. What the fuck is that?

This comparison doesn't show the more current trend towards girls with either a really flat chest or really huge boobs. I haven't really seen a whole lot of normal boob sizes recently.
