Aya Hirano “Will Give Up Being a Seiyuu”

Speculation that Aya Hirano may be set to give up being a seiyuu in favour of becoming a TV “talent” is raging, after the seiyuu revealed an itinerary dominated by appearances on variety programmes.
The suspicion that she is in the midst of a major career change began circulating recently, but became heightened with the announcement of 3 variety programme appearances in under a week.
One show-business source describes her current circumstances:
“Her current manager differs from her last, a seiyuu specialist, and is now a specialist in variety TV programmes. It looks as though from now on she’ll be mainly a talent.”
Whether any of this was tied to her recent episodes is not clear.
Hirano’s introduction to show-business was in fact as a general TV talent, and has made a number of appearances throughout her career, though none as concentrated as now. That she also has a TV show further lessens the leap.
The demands of selling herself to a notoriously fickle and demanding otaku audience may also be a consideration – a career as TV talent and singer would place much lower demands on her image.
However, with most (if not all) of her fame as seiyuu stemming from roles in Haruhi and Lucky Star, shows which are both defunct and comparatively little known in the mainstream, she may face an uncertain future even as a talent.

If I recalled correctly seiyuu Yuzuki, Ryouka （柚木涼香） started as an AV actress

Remember, he was asking what a "FUCKING seiyuu" means.
Yuzuki Ryoka didn't start out in AV exactly. She started in direct to video movies, which are given more freedom with violence and sex depictions, if I remember correctly. Still, there is a difference between AV and what she did.
She'll come crying back when she realizes that the live action talent scene is quick to chew out the fad of the month. When you're seiyuu, you get lifetime recognition. Even if she is to retire, people would know her voice.
Haruhi Suzumiya only goes well with Aya's voice!!

She is a damn good Seiyuu...It just would not be the same without her...

I mean professionally, her voice acting is flawless. No one else can voice Haruhi or Konata the way she did and she still do the fairly "normal" role in White Album, 20 faces, FT, etc etc.
People just keep giving her hate for the things she does outside her career. and some even detest her just for having a wide forehead?

Me too...I don't get all the hate from a girl who has a cute and lovely voice and a very successful seiyuu and actress...
Her voice acting is indeed flawless...
The first time I watched Lucky Star, I fell in love with Konata and her voice...
Eventually when I stumbled on the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and finding out that Aya is Haruhi's Seiyuu, I was pretty happy...
And secondly, yes...I love Aya's forehead and would enjoy seeing it get covered in spunk...It's one of her charms aside from her awesome voice...
Without her and her voice, Konata and Haruhi would never ever be the same...
haruhi was just another high school girls voice but i agree konata's voice was done really well..... can't be emulated easily....

Aya disappearing? won't probly matter. She's the type of seiyuu where you'd only think "nice voice!" and "awesome!" only when you hear it. And not "I hope she voices blah in the future".
Yurippe's seiyuu could replace Aya for Haruhi too.
Although, her accomplishments will never be forgotten. I loved the gekisou, very Very much. I love Konata, and probly wouldn't as much as I do now if it weren't for Aya.

Other than her crazy antics and her public image, it does not have anything to do with her talent of VOICE ACTING especially in her variety of roles most known in haruhi and konata.

she's actually really talented as a singer and voice actress, it's just that she constantly does something embarrassing totally unrelated to her talents.

Well, you can draw some media attention by unveiling some embarrassing stuff, but if it didn't work the first time, you better stop at it. Otherwise you're done.

yeah! I like almost all of her songs, better than most of what is being done actually. I hope she concentrates more in her singing career... would love to see her in a big national tour... playing at Yoyogi National Gymn...
as a general TV personality, she's ok.
the only people that tend to think she's great are the people who were hardcore over her for her seiyuu work to begin with though.
but you don't need to be particularly talented in anything to be a TV personality, so she'd probably be fine at it.
she's a talented voice actress. that can't be denied.
personally, i think she's still overrated even at that, but i won't claim she's a bad seiyuu. she's certainly well above average.
HOWEVER
i completely disagree with the claim that she's a talented singer.
and i don't know of anyone who isn't a hardcore Aya-fanatic (that thinks she's some prodigy at everything else does), that doesn't think she's an otaku-overrated singer.
she sang some above average well-written anime songs for a series that was insanely popular at the time (though frankly if you look at sales numbers, has since been eclipsed. there's a reason KyoAni hasn't been in a rush to return to Haruhi since K-on), and got all the fawning otaku instantly proclaiming her musical genius, but that is all there is to it.
she was never a GOOD singer.
she is a decent singer given good songs.
and live, she SUCKS.
live, she sings loud (and moderately in tune, though not always even that), not well.
her singing ability is equivalent to a Disney teen pop star.
decent (sometimes) is about the best you can say, hardly good.
"tailored" would actually be a more accurate judgment. her singing ability is tailored to a specific audience that doesn't actually care all that much about singing talent.
what will happen when she faces an audience that actually cares?
we've seen what happens to these Disney teens when they decide to try bring their less-than-stellar overall talents out of their tailored-for-them audience.
hell, even amongst seiyuu i can probably think of a good dozen seiyuu who are FAR better singers than she is.

Remember that post about seiyuu's not geting pay as much she work really hard earn her fame at the risk of her own health to be know In the Buisness as being an Idol to many fan's.
lolwut? she sucks as a singer. She's mediocre at best as a seiyuu. I say so long, nothing lost. If a role she voiced returns, they should hire nayuta from niconico douga, she sounds exactly like hirano, but is a better actress, is most likely better looking and can actually sing without being resampled 500000 times in a recording studio.
