Japanese gamers share a ranking of the most enjoyable games of the first half of 2010, revealing the Japanese gaming market truly seems locked in desperate times.

2009 was a great year for games. 2010 looking to be kinda drab, with a few games of interest but nothing really original or new, mainly sequels and rehashes.

Peace Walker is just pimping out The Boss's epicness, SIMPLY WITH AUDIO FILES.
Let's see, of these, Peace Walker's an awesome game, never heard of Etrian Oddysey, Xenoblade looked good from what I saw on this very site, SSFIV was good and was also ranked highly on X-play's year-to-date list, Nier was garbage, Ar Tonelico I know nothing about aside from the fanservice, KH is usually pretty good, LP2 was low rated but very fun in co op, SMG2 was good and God Eater was pretty good.
What about this is a bad sign about the Japanese game industry? There's not a lot of overlap with the western ranking, but other than that the majority of these deserve to be highly ranked.

If this is desperate times then i'd like to see good times for gaming, those games are amesome. I have or pre-ordered 6 of those game for when they release them here.

umm if you played all(yes all including portable ops) you'll know how both snake's have gone through, especially big boss. but if you don't like it, it's fine since each person has different taste :D

this list will probably change until the end of the year, because mahoutsukai no yoru, mbaacc and starcraft 2 are yet to be released.

Wow, 3 top 10 PSP games, and only 1 DS game. Seems Nintendo was smart in releasing the 3DS when they did. It seems the DS is lossing ground in the, DS has better games argument. I guess Sony didn't take too kindly to people not seeing them as a threat in the handheld market anymore.
I think this actually is in reflection to a lot of the newer DS titles not being out yet (Pokemon, etc.)
but yeah, once the 3DS comes out, these lists are going to go back to Nintendo domination

It would only make sense that from a Japanese standpoint games like Halo Reach, and Nier would have less reception there as to their possible higher sales in the U.S.

Big name gaming companies keep making random 1st person shooters and add in a few new features (whips, freeze ray, etc.), it grows old. They should work on fighting games and free-for-all brawl games. Damn I'd love to rip the guts off someone and choke his friends with them. That would be awesome
This is where I show how old I am. Back in the first half of the nineties, everything was fighting games. The exact way it is FPS games at the moment. I honestly don't want a repeat of that.
