A survey of Japanese women provides an interesting snapshot of what their favourite anime of 2010 spring were, and what they are looking forward to in the summer 2010 season. Some rather surprising choices make their way into the rankings…

The high placing of K-ON!! is perhaps something of a surprise – moeblobbery evidently knows no gender bounds.

Yeah, because it's a list of stuff that'll mostly exclude pointless moe crap.
I can't disagree more alex. A ton of those shows are actually very fun to watch and Hakuoki is actually pretty well made and Ookiku Furikabutte is honestly one of the most accurate portrayals of the sport of baseball in a fiction I've ever seen.
Arakawa under the bridge was very funny. I look forward to a 2nd season...

Really? The fact that its a funny show with girls doing girly stuff that probably relatable for a lot of them isn't enough reason for women to like K-On?
Exactly; I don't get why it should be so surprising that most female otaku love moe. Girls like cute things. Duh.
Hetalia ended up spawning a legion of fangirls so why am I not surpised?
Same applies to Black Butler, though the fangirls aren't nearly as retarded.

This season is pretty much boring anyway apart from a few exceptions.

they love the story of tokugawa shogun period, more than the warring state period, like bassara.
it's the concept of the shinsengumi well that and even though I never saw Hakuouki probably a bunch yaoi pairs just waiting to be made.

Ookiku Furikabutte scoring so well makes me inner fangirl pleased.
I thought it would score higher. Oofuri is really popular in Japan, even if it's unpopular in the western countries.
If it scored any higher, lord knows the other fanbases would be green with envy and rage.

Also, it seems that Mio is becoming like Love Plus' Nene of K-ON!.
I knew K-ON! was a chick anime.
More surprised that guys like it at all. At a certain level of moe that a show can reach, it really all becomes chick fodder.

Yeah i'm not surprised to see sekirei up there. I'm a chick and love it and im not even bi or anything totally straight but I just like the story line and yeah i do like the drawing style.I dunno if you guys know or not, but the mangaka of sekirei who's a chick, also writes yaoi under a pen name. But i still think High school of the dead should so be up there.

As a female I feel the need to give my opinion on last season's anime. I only watched 4 anime last season (I tried watching Mayoi Neko Overrun! but it was so bad), but hey, may as well rank 'em.

4. B-Gata H-Kei
Don't get me wrong, just because B-Gata H-Kei is at the bottom doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it! :3 Then again, I prefer girls over guys, so no surprise there.
As a girl, I found those all pretty stupid. Arakawa was bland and relied on Shinbo's usual arm-flailing humor, B Gata had some funny moments but was utterly forgettable, Maid-sama was as pathetic and pointless as Overrun. Working wasn't as bad as the others, but only because of Satou x Yachiyo.
In fact this whole top ten is pretty much your usual laundry list of the stupidest anime airing, excepting Furikabutte which isn't my kind of show anyway. If it wasn't for Tatami and Five Leaves I'd have just re-watched Aria and Rose of Versailles. I just might do that now, because the summer season looks pathetically childish so far.
