Wow, Slam Dunk? Parents, reading a sports manga will not make your kid good at sports provided he is not black, but if he is then he won't read anyway.
By the way, there's Slam Dunk mangas in my high school library's reference section, and I'm from Malaysia.
It's funny how censorship works to keep children from reading what officials call "hazardous material".
If you find a "Dragonball" manga in pretty much any school in Australia, it would have all the nudity(or not quite nudity but still erotic material) literally cut out with scissors.

I must say, Black Jack is a classy choice. It is chock full of heady human relationship issues and crises and Black Jack overtakes each problem with cool, dandy efficiency. Awesome stuff. Black Jack if you want your son to grow into an awesome dandy.

Reflects more on their ages than anything. People who grew up in the 90s would tend to gravitate to the popular shows back then such as Slam Dunk, Captain Tsubasa, Dragonball, Kochikame, and Black Jack.

It's in the top 5 most sold manga, over one hundred million sold, but i can't remember exactly what place it was in.
I used to try to emit Kamehameha when i was child.
It seemed to be succeeded by next generation.

The series is superb, but it has potential to turn your son into a philosopher, thus he will be wise enough to defy every single thing you say.
FMA is too deep and kinda abstract for a shounen, anyway. Arakawa should make it a seinen to begin with.
