Every girl I know, except one, that went to Japan and used a train has gotten groped at least once. This was in college, so I had been in contact with many. They were American girls, so I wonder how many Japanese girls have been groped. Honestly though, what's your solutions? I'd rather have there be women-only cars than women getting groped left and right.

I was acting like a gentelman would for many years. Opening the door, bowing, etc. You know how women reacted? They were laughing and it made me unpopular. I stopped - now they call me an asshole. I think that equality means "equal chances" yet they want us to give half to them. What next? 1/2 of all cars on our streets? That's not equality - I call it "social divorce". And if they want us to give 1/2 of things THEY want... Why the hell not give them half of everything? I've never seen a feminist with a bumper stick which would say "Give us 1/2 of work places in the mines!".

‘what ideas do YOU guys have to prevent groping’ - I've argued before that having bigger / better laid out carriages could increase social supervision to the point where it becomes a non-problem. But the fare for such carriages would necessarily be higher to compensate the railway company - if women aren't willing to pay that though, I don't think they're finding groping as bad as they say they do. (Possibly those carriages would actually be more popular among men, since it would shield them from false accusations.)
But there is a more important point to be made. Some problems don't have a solution. Sometimes everything that can be done to alleviate a problem causes other problems which are worse. So responding to people who slam policy X by saying ‘but how would you solve problem Y?’ is silly and not productive. If you're keen on solving Y, you have to come up with a better policy X yourself, or convince people that policy X is not as bad as they think.

I propose a law: to ban all fugly women from this planet and send them in a train to the afterlife. Tha would fix two troubles: ugliness, and feminism.

There's no easy or quick fix for this in Japan.

As long as a majority of men there think "it's no big deal to grope", and a majority of women accept a lower-class status ("we just have to bear it"), then things will continue as they are.

As a U.S. male, I've probably had a different experience than most. I've always been surrounded by -- or perhaps have surrounded myself with -- highly competent females. Since I was little, I've always had female friends.

But it seems many men don't even "get" the fact that it's possible to relate to women in any way other than as potential sex partners. There are many men who have never had a female friend (as in, "just a friend").

How screwed-up is that?

As long as that situation persists, there will be women who will think, largely based upon how men treat them, that "has a penis == an enemy".
