I see the opinion of fujoshi vs random western otaku. Gintama is extremely popular among them, and also Reborn. Why? Have a look at the doujin market, I'd bet you'd barely find anything oriented towards males. That aside, I'd at least say they've made decent choices with Gintoki and Shizuo.
