It has emerged that Microsoft has finally solved its long running RRoD problem in the new Xbox 360 Slim, in true Microsoft style – by removing the red light from the design completely.
The specification reveals the modest reduction in size the unit enjoys, as well as the removal of a certain red LED:
Whether this was done deliberately to terminate the RRoD for PR purposes or just to save a few cents on the unit cost is unclear, as is whether the Green Ring of Death will simply replace the Red.
*facepalm* I thought it was a REAL solution…
changing red with green. now i see microsoft qualification
Oh, wow…
Well, there goes my chances of ever getting one…
I still believe laying it down instead of standing it up makes it last longer.
(I’ve had mine 2 years now.)
It does. Look at the console and the way stuff is packaged inside…. standing it up impedes airflow through the console and out of the console.
Not many people have realized that and/or brought that fact up for some reason.
What is that Kinect port bullshit?
As I understand it, the Kinect connects via a USB port. So either in the front or the back of the Xbox. Yet it seperately lists the USB port elsewhere in the feature list.
O_O
Yeah, it uses a slightly different connector, probably to prevent buyers from using it on computers or something.
