Protip: we don't want your lousy ass next gen RPG graphics.. RPG games don't need modernized graphics. they need a good story, cool weapons, and a fun level up system...

Well frankly, you can't blame them for doing this. Let's face it, they probably tripled sales with a single stroke by revealing these screens. These days the only thing more important than a JRPG's graphical power, plot and gameplay (in that order) is how easy it is to fap to the female cast.
This is why we can't have nice things. In the old days Tifa Lockheart became possibly the most enduring JRPG sex symbol of all time and she was made out of fucking lego bricks.
The only thing that doesn't look completely awesome in this game is the design of the damn faces. They look like bad hentai characters sometimes. You know, the ones with the scrunched up noses and weird faces....

Not sure why this is news worthy. Many games let you play without clothes and have great visuals still. And no, I'm not saying sexually, just that they made the character models well.

Monster Hunter is a exception, its still awesome no matter what your wearing.
Ahem, no, my friend. In Monster Hunter Tri with some armor and an appropriate camera angle can get very good shots ;)
It's really no different from most western RPGs where you can strip off all your character's armor and have them run around in their underwear. In some of the earlier western RPGs they were actually naked without their armor.
