“Nichijou” Anime Announced – A Bridge Too Far for KyoAni?

An anime adaptation of slice-of-life gag manga Nichijou (“Everyday”) is to be handled by Kyoto Animation, but fans are wondering just whether Kyoto Animation will be able to work its magic on the source material in question.
The manga, harshly described by some as “degraded Azumanga,” looks to have character designs and material even Kyoto Animation would be hard pressed to turn into top selling moeblobs:

The manga is however much more popular than K-ON! ever was prior to being turned into an anime, though amongst fans respect for the original work seems only to translate into scepticism as to what Kyoto Animation will do with the series, especially with regards to its art.

Yep slice of life... I wish my life had those so that I can finally stop taking it seriously.
I'd call this "slice of weird" since it mixes ordinary settings and situations with the absurd, like it's American cousin "regular show."
Boo-fucking-hoo! I happen to like slice-of-life so shut the fuck up. I hate shounen animes, but I don't go around whining about them. Simply say "Meh, not for me. I'll just go and watch something else". Not so fucking hard, is it?
I haven't complained once in the last five years, but the way the anime industry is going, every second anime will be slice-of-life.
99% is just nonsense dialogue over and over again. If you like words so much go read a book instead, I for once would like to watch something that goes with the word ANIMATION!

Wasn't Lucky Star compared to Azumanga as well? Good thing KyoAni put their magic touch and made Lucky Star a million times better than that lame Azumanga. It's an insult to compare Lucky Star to Azumanga.
Azumanga started off well, but grew nonsenical with Osaka's crazy day dreams or the old gag with kuudere Sakaki always being bitten by cats (do they ever get tired of it?).
So yes, I don't foresee any problem of KyoAni putting their magic touch in Nichijou. They are like the Blizzard of the anime world. Anything they touch turns to gold.
